Hi Dane, Passed my test on Friday at Dun-Laoghaire,Dublin center . Anyone looking for tips or rules of driving in Ireland especially if you are from a different country please do watch Dane’s videos to become a proper Irish driver. He’s the best. 👍 Thanks a lot Dane and really appreciate your hard-work and efforts in making the videos. 🙏
Hi Dane, Once again I want to thank you for all the videos you provide for us. I have watched it over and over again and I learned so much with you. Not only for passing my test (WHAT I DID TODAY), but to drive properly and save. May God bless you. I will send a donation. You deserve many of it. I will also share your channel link in a Facebook page of all the Brazilian in Ireland. Thank you so much.
Hi Dane, I love your videos! I'm from Brazil and I'd love if you could turn on the captions on this video, it helps me a lot to get the lesson. Thank you very much!
Hi Dane, nice videos as always! I have a question at 6:31. Did you cancel your indicator because you could see that there's someone and you're not going to move anyway so you didn't want to confuse them? That's what I think it is and I would have the instinct to do that too!
Yes that's right, I cancelled it because I wanted the other driver to know that I wasn't in a rush to pull out. Also because I was parked sticking out, as opposed to being in a parking space/bay off the road, I felt it better to cancel momentarily.
I had a test on Monday and I got 2 grade 2 faults.... But failed because of not clearing a junction properly 😭😭😭 thanks for al your help though, I'll hopefully get it next time
No. But that is a bit of a silly question, every right turn is different so I can't give you a single answer. You need to learn to read the junctions and plan ahead instead of looking for simple one word answers that will only mislead you.
Hi Dane, nice videos be nice if you could put a video about blind spots a approaching junctions, changing lane, moving from different parked positions, thx u
Hi Dane, every video you do is so helpful, I’m curious, what’s the name of the that folder you have with the small cars that are magnets on the traffic background?
Hi Dane , if you haven't already done this would it be possible for you do a top 10 most important things to know before your driving test compilation video?
Hi Dane, what about when you're going down John's Road and there's the cross junction and you're indicating to turn right when the light is green. Where would I be positioned whilst waiting as the traffic coming up the hill are also indicating to turn in the same direction I am (towards Jim McGees) I got a mark for this in my mock test as I waited at the white line as I waited for a gap in the traffic while the light was green and then turned right up along by Jim McGees. 😊
Good old Jim McGee, I'd say every soul in Wexford knows him. Once the light is red you remain behind the white line, but once it goes green you must roll up into the middle of the junction and give way to oncoming cars. All will be revealed in this video - th-cam.com/video/KBwrusnNPhQ/w-d-xo.html If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.
Your videos have been so so helpful with my driving Dane. I have my test tomorrow and just wondering would I lose marks for driving in 2nd gear around 30km zones, as I find it too hard to stay under 30 in 3rd gear?
Good luck for you test! You got this. Okay I'm by no means an expect on this, but I don't think it's going to be an issue if you're able to control the car in second gear at that speed, safely and comfortably. Yes it's not the most efficient way but I don't think that warrants a minor! That's just my 2 cents
If you're up around 30km then you need to be in 3rd gear mostly as it's better for the engine and more environmentally friendly, 2nd is more of a climbing gear. Best of luck with the driving test
Hi Dane, I’m been studying you videos lately and I’ve found them so helpful! I’ve just a question in regards to turning right at a junction. How do you know which lane to choose when turning right? What’s the best way to identify a dual carriage way? Thanks in advance
It depends on what markings and signs are there when you are turning, normally keep right turning right. A dual carriageway has 2 lanes at least so if you see a 2 lane road up ahead there's a good chance its a dual carriageway. Also you might see a road sign letting you know this.
In general do you have to come to a complete stop for a blind junction that has a yield sign ? I was told if you don’t fully stop for any blind junction it’s a fail even if it’s unmarked. Some junctions only open up when your 1 or 2 cars away from the junction, would they be considered open
I was supposed to have my driving test today but the tester deemed my car unworthy because the passenger side window wasn’t functioning and he refused to carry-out the test. I can’t find any regulations on the RSA website or from any emails from the RSA that mention that having an operational passenger side window is a must. What should I do now?
Well I'm happy to clarify that the tester was absolutely correct to cancel the test because your passenger side window wasn't functioning. Your car and all its parts must be in full working order and this is especially true in relation to the windows during the current Covid 19 crisis where ventilation within a vehicle is very important. How you thought this wouldn't be an issue is a mystery to me. There's absolutely nothing you can do only reapply, try again only this time make sure your car is in the proper condition. If I was a driving tester there is no way I would have tested you today.
Hi Dane, another video I've found really helpful, thank you. Just wondering why some instructors allow me to dry steer when doing a 3 point turn, and tell me it is okay for you to skip from 4th down to 2nd gear, whilst others don't allow this. Will I lose marks in my test for doing these?
Probably the same reason why some people vote for Donald Trump and others vote for Joe Biden. Because we're all different and I hope that's the way it will stay because the world would be very boring if we were all the same. Just because there are different ways to do things doesn't mean one is right and one is wrong, there's more than 1 way to skin a cat.
I hope they do because that's exactly what it is - coasting. But coasting is not a problem in this scenario because we are going so slow and doing it for the greater good of improved control and a better opportunity to see what is coming. So whether some random tester thinks it's coasting or not? I couldn't care less because I know it's safe and practical for tricky blind junctions.
Hi thanks for the videos! If turning right at an unmarked junction - no stop or yield sign or lines, would the first gear trick be a good idea or should you come to a full stop? Thanks!
Absolutely not. That's completely ridiculous and I don't know why you would suggest that. Why would go to first gear approaching a roundabout when there's no need to stop. Don't look for easy, lazy shortcuts.
@@DaneTygheletsdrive thank you for the reply. Sorry if my question sound ridiculous. Also, it’s not because I m looking for lazy way I thought it’s better percussion.
I forgive you. The honest answer is that sometimes it is safer to do junctions in first gear, for example if they are blind or dangerous. Other junctions can easily and safely be done in 2nd gear, it will depend on the situation and the junction. To try and do every junction in 1st gear under some illusion that you are being safe is ridiculous in the real world not to mention dangerous and irresponsible, it would probably be frustrating to other drivers and lead to problems. Driving doesn't consist of easy one word answers, each junction needs to be judged on an individual basis.
Hi Dane, if I drive to the roundabout, and I'm going to turn into third exit, then I saw a man has intention to over. How I should do ? Do I need to stop and let the man go?
It's difficult to say because each situation is unique, but it might just be that he's creeping out to either get a better view or in preparation to take off. But if you feel he's too eager you still have right of way and it might not be practical to stop on the roundabout but you might not have a choice depending on the situation. Perhaps keeping a little right as you leave could be an option while making sure you are indicating correctly and checking your mirrors, a quick blind spot or sideways glance would be useful too.
Hi Dane, thanks for all your helpful videos, finding some great content before test on Thursday. Also great to see a fellow Wexford man succeeding at getting such a large TH-cam following; fair play to you. Hope you could answer the following: when turning right from a minor road junction (with one lane for turning right) onto a main road with three lanes (including a bus lane on the far left), should I be in the middle lane or right lane after the turn? Is the far right lane always for fast moving traffic? Thanks a mill.
Thanks for the support and best wishes with the driving. In that case it would appear that you should use the middle lane as the left lane is a bus lane and the right lane is usually for faster moving traffic. However an exception could be made if directional road markings allow.
@@DaneTygheletsdrive Just to let you know I passed the test today on the first go and had to turn right into 3 lanes so your advice was spot on! Thanks so much for your amazing content, donation coming your way!
