Passed after my 4th attempt today. You'll always be nervous but one thing to remember is there's no need to rush once you start the test. You're not in a hurry to get anywhere, keep that in mind and you'll be fine!
Dane, passed my test first time today and whilst I had an absolutely amazing instructor, I think your videos also really helped. This one and the practical demonstration of reversing around the corner were a lifesaver! Thanks for all your great work!
What a coincidence that you put this up today. I know my ability and I've come a far way. When I started learning to drive a manual car, I was awful and I kept stalling but now 1 year on, I rarely stall and I'm capable of driving in busy areas but my brain loves to put me off doing my test and the minute I'm examined in a test situation my strengths don't show. I really want to do my test soon and move forward but it's controlling those negative thoughts. Thanks Dane ☺️
I'm exactly the same. Left learning until my 40s and I'm constantly thinking negatively about long I left it and how hard I find it even though I've come a long way. I keep holding off on the test as I don't feel I'm good enough. Dane makes some excellent points here.
@@DaneTygheletsdrive one thing I've noticed is how bad many experienced drivers are! It actually boosts my confidence as a learner, knowing I'm doing my best to drive safely and conscientiously :)
I've my test in a month. I'm so incredibly anxious about it. I don't have a private car or my own car, so I only get to practice with the instructor, so I can't drive as much as I would like. I'll try to read that book you recommended!
Thanks Dane for your great videos and calming advice. I passed my test today on the fourth attempt. I found all four tests made me very anxious and I've never really felt this type of anxiety in preparation for any assessment before. You clearly care about the people who are going to watch your videos and your advice is second to none. I know it helped with many things today in the test, like the reverse around the corner, observations, trying to keep calm. To anyone reading this who has failed multiple times like me and who thinks they might never pass - keep the faith. Thanks again Dane.
Very impressed with the mindfulness tips. I’ve practiced meditation myself a while ago for a while and still use it every so often and these are exactly the things you learn in meditation. Focusing on your breathing, Being aware of the weight of your body on the surface your sitting on and the contact points, And of course bringing the wondering mind back to the breathing. Glad to see them being talked about and I think I may take a look at that book ☺️
Hey Dane! Just passed my test today with only 3 grade 2’s and zero 1’s. Massive thank you for all your videos as they’ve really helped my confidence. You’re doing amazing things here, i think if you started a series filing people’s pre-tests with a voice over explaining their mistakes it would really gain a lot of views! Cheers and best of luck :)
I have my test in two days and recently took some lessons (that didn't go well) and had a nervous accompanying driver practicing with me the last few days. Causing lots of doubt and negative thoughts. I have been watching your videos every night. I really needed this video. Thanks Dane
Dane, just want to say a huge thank you for all the content you put out. I've been watching your channel for the past number of months and rewatched many of my favourites this week leading up to my test this morning. Happy to report that I passed! I made a point of rewatching this video before I went to the test centre this morning and the advice on "living in the present moment" was instrumental in me getting over the line. As a nervous driver, one or two incidents on the route today would have normally made me panic and lead me to make silly little mistakes, but by using your advice, I simply forgot about them and kept going as normal. I'll certainly continue to be a supporter of the channel for the foreseeable future, you never really stop learning as a driver! All the best to you, take care.
Glen that's lovely to read, I'm very happy to hear that but you had to prove yourself to be a good driver and that's exactly what you did, now you have a full European license to show for it, congratulations and thank you so much for your support 😊
Watched this last night before my third attempt at the test today and passed, finally! The nerves are what got me the last two times and this time I kept reminding myself how well my practice had gone over the last few weeks. I think a lot of the test is to do with mindset. Thanks for a great video and for anyone else about to sit the test; do the route every single day for as many weeks as you can leading up to the test so that there are no surprises on the day + know the theory inside out for a clean slate when you go driving!

I'm having major trouble dropping down in gears, I'm short - 4'11 I've tried getting as close as I possibly can to the clutch to fully engage it as I drop down from 1st to 2nd I end up missing it, it screeches and goes out of gear all together and I panic, it's an older manual (2010) not sure if this is the issue, I have tried the palming method, boosting myself on a cushion etc, any tips or have you come across this before ? my test is on thursday 😞
Maybe look into getting an adaptor for the pedal to make it closer to your feet. Or maybe use the instructor car, maybe that would be more convenient and comfortable?
Hi Dane really i feel nervious all the time that i have to do something very inportant i know what you are saying about this breathing is really important. a personal question the litle doll that you have in your desk all the time where is she from ? really is a curiosity

When pulling the hand brake up should you press the button in
Yes and no. Press it in as you pull it up but not for the last 10 or 15 % as this helps secure it and prevents it from dropping back down.

Yes. Don't forget to breath but Everything is equally important and each individual person will have strengths and weaknesses unique to them.
Just wondering if you can you drive to the test centre unaccompanied
What would you think?
Hi Dane really i feel nervious all the time that i have to do something very inportant i know what you are saying about this breathing is really important. a personal question the litle doll that you have in your desk all the time where is she from ? really is a curiosity
You have to live in the moment. The doll is a gift that I purchased for my late Mother while I was travelling in Peru in 2005, it was hand made by indigenous people.
I've my driving test tomorrow. Am super nervous.
Me too! Good luck! I’m doing mine in Finglas
Good luck to you too! Hoping it goes well! Doing mine in Tipperary town. Will be very busy but hope that works in my favour
Best of luck with your test 🍀
Just passed my test first try! Thanks so much for the help!
Congratulations on your great news 👌
Hi Dane I'm just wondering if you are using your own car for the test do you need to have a spare tyre in the boot or does it matter? Thank you.
It's not going to be looked at by the tester.
@@DaneTygheletsdrive That's perfect, thank you.
Best of luck
Hi Dane, can you tell me if its fine to use the reverse camera while doing reverse around a corner? Thanks
Yes that would be fine but don't look at it all the time, you need to look behind and in your mirrors moreso.
I go to the exam with a translator. Does the translator also need an anti-eating gene?
You won't have any translator anyway
👍👍

I am getting palpitations from now
Watch the video and listen carefully.
