Hey, you mentioned it might only be useable for NTSC versions and not for the PAL Versions. Is it possible to have some additional information about this? I've spotted this on the german page of amazon and I am interested in purchasing one, but now I am not sure if it is of any use for my PAL Gamecube. Thank You.
@@RoXolid It has to do with PAL games not being able to be that high in resolution. The Adapter can force them to, but with various results. I have one for my PAL console, and it works fine. If you just plug it in and let it do its job and not mess too much with the settings, you'll still get a much better picture than through an AV to HDMI adapter.
Out of curiosity does the adapter then also plugged in with the mclassic weight it down? And that's alot that would stick straight out. On the GCHD MK2 it's to the side.

Thanks for the great video content. I always enjoy watching your uploads. I have two questions though... Do majority of the games that you show have progressive scan? Also, could you do a comparison or side-by-side of these games being played on a Wii with a component cable versus the GameCube with the HDMI adapter?
All these games were in progressive scan mode. The issue with that comparison is there's no way to capture the Wii without going to something like a RetroTink2x and converting the signal. so it's not a great comparison.
I recently found I had some gamecube extension cables so I been enjoying that as my go to now. Let's me play just about anywhere I'd want (either the TV or my PC monitors nearby) and I been liking it! Wavebird is great, and maybe with some long lasting batteries I'd use it more. This device looks like a nice solution and the picture is great. I been using S-VIdeo -> Retrotink 2x for my GC and it's doing solid work but I gotta say this is nice for the simplicity. You mentioned that your capture card lost signal during Double Dash. Are you using elgato by chance? I was having the same issue, but for games like this or other resolution changers I found a cheap, generic USB capture card works well for playing titles like that. Thanks for sharing!
I'm using a Hauppauge PVR 60 Pro. The reason why it stopped recording is that there's a slight signal loss when the resolution changes. No Signal = the capture card stopping to record. That's what caused that.
@@RoXolid Makes sense! Sounds like the reason mine loses signal as well. Thanks for the reply/info and for a nice video. You picked some good titles to show off the device and I hope you have a great rest of your day :)
Currently lamenting that I don't have digital AV out on my GameCube ☹️ I got mine for Christmas 2003, so that must've been close to the time they removed the port for cost management purposes.
The main difference is that you go straight to an HDMI cable and you can add scanlines. Now you can go from those component cables to like an OSSC and get 5x line multiplying so they actually have some advantages
Would you say this is a night and difference between the prism and a hyperkin hdmi cable? I happened to snag a GameCube with digital video out. Is the prism worth the extra $50 over something like the hyperkin cable?
True, but you still need to tap into that connector internally. This is something where the normies can go ahead and utilize and not have to worry about a special connector type
Someone needs to produce a GameCube controller that's wireless but still the same size, style and weight as the wired version GameCube Controller......also include all bumper buttons L1 L2 R1 R2 with click L3 & R3 buttons on the original design sticks. Edit: this would the work on most of the modern console's obviously including the Switch.
@@RoXolid The gamecube games in 480i are a massive improvement. Including the wide screen of course. Dose the Gameboy player games also enjoy that improvement? I would only get one for my gameboy player. Would you recommend that?

So it does flicker to black for just a second if and when it changes resolutions. The best example I can give is approaching the death Star in Star wars rogue squadron
So I have the LG CX and I’m using the this HDMI by retro bit. And I notice audio lag. When playing for 5 minutes the audio starts to lag. An example would be when playing smash and i hit an opponent the sound would lag for a second. I’ve tried it on a tv that has hdmi and other video ports from 2008 the Sony Bravia and on that one is worse. Sound is gone for a whole second. Any suggestions this was really pricey almost $90 bucks :/. And I’ve tried different hdmi cables and the result is the same.
Just received mine. Playing Rogue Leader I’ve noticed some lag when the resolution changes. When my ship explodes the screen cuts black for a second and I miss it. Is there something in the settings that can help this?
Check out the video I just uploaded yesterday, there is a firmware update that may help you. The other thing is to make sure that you are using game mode on your television
I would love to review or even own a wavebird controller man.. I would love to find one for a decent price first. Any suggestions on where to find one.
I plugged this into my Samsung HDTV, and the output is 16:9. Is it supposed to be outputting at 4:3 automatically or do I have to adjust my tv settings?
AH, ok. I would think that if you are skilled enough to do the Digital output mpd then doing the HDMI mod would probably be the way one would likely go. I know that's how I would do it myself.
Check the review, there's footage of those systems in there. I'm doing the systems I didn't feature in there first before highlighting those alread covered
Thank you for your reply. Was hoping to find a good not too expensive option that would work with both my N64 and GC. Hoping not to have to splash out the cash for one unit per console.
@@ACobraFumante-th5lb First of all, avoid Kaico. They have been reported to have reverse engineer and copy other company's gear. They are the same company as BitFunx. Google Kaico and RetroTink to see what I am talking about. The Hyperkin will work with the analog output of the Gamecube and N64. That's basically tapping into either the Composite or S-Video signal which looks drastically worse than what these cable do, which tap into the digital output. When I said the cables aren't cross compatible that's what I was referencing, these cables use a different port that is a digital output vs the analog output of the AV from the N64/SNES/Gamecube
@@RoXolid Have you had any issues with your HD Prism? I have had sound issues in Phantasy Star Online. For instance, if you were to play Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, or Drill Dozer, with an official Nintendo Gamecube controller that is wired, and you have the rumble feature turned on, your controller WILL rumble within the context of the game you are playing. The Wavebird is great, for people that do not care about haptic feedback.

The carby V2 can be updated if you ship it to them but since they fixed all the issues since the first carby it seems pointless.
I'll bet Nintendo still has the patent active
I have one that’s wireless but my parents bought it for me like 15 years ago. Not sure if they still sell it anymore
Is there any comparison to EON GCHD Mark II?
Not in this video. I may do a video showing the GCHD, Carby & this compared to reach other. Honestly, the video quality is virtually identical
@@RoXolid Thank you for the information
Anytime! That's what I'm here for! And thank you!
@@RoXolid The gamecube games in 480i are a massive improvement. Including the wide screen of course. Dose the Gameboy player games also enjoy that improvement? I would only get one for my gameboy player. Would you recommend that?
Which one is better? This or the Carby?
Pretty much identical video output but this is much easier to update
@@RoXolid I'd love to get something like this for GameCube but I don't have that many GameCube games and they're so expensive, I'm not sure how to get them from GameStop's website as they always are listed unavailable.
So, you can run this and then an MClassic after this and get even better video- correct?
100% Correct
Oh look, another retro gaming channel with a Patreon
Don't forget the channel memberships, those are important too. And I'm also a Patreon and Super Chat supporter of many other channels.
Is there any delay when cutscene ?? Black screen with sound
So it does flicker to black for just a second if and when it changes resolutions. The best example I can give is approaching the death Star in Star wars rogue squadron
What did you plug into the adapter port of the prism though? I’ve having a hard time figuring out what to pay to attach it to the tv
Prism -> Gamecube. HDMI Cable -> Prism. That's it.
Does it work with a GC PAL System?
Wavebird all of the way!
It's a darn good controller!
Have you tried it with mclassic ?
Yes, in fact if you go to the rapid fire section those are so going through the mClassic
Are you using game mode on your TV?
@@RoXolid yes
Hmm, no idea
big selling point I think is the price compared to EON.
That is a major advantage! Nearly 1/2 the price!
The Original Star Wars!
CORRECT!
Thankfully the Zelda rap is just an obscure commercial otherwise I think it could have killed the franchise lol
But the Zelda rap is still better than Breath of the Wild....
Any suggestions on where to find one.
they are real nice
Hopefully we get conventions sooner than later, otherwise eBay for now.
It does work for PAL consoles, just not all games though.
Good to know!!
i don't know if i want to get that adapter for my GameCube
How are you connecting to your tv currently?
@@RoXolid through the av cable the system came with since i don't have a hdmi adapter for it
Gotcha. This will make your games look sharper for sure. You can also go S-video too

I plugged this into my Samsung HDTV, and the output is 16:9. Is it supposed to be outputting at 4:3 automatically or do I have to adjust my tv settings?
If you tv is set to display 16:9 that's what it will do. You'll need to adjust the TV to 4:3
@@RoXolid Thank you for your response. I was paranoid that I got a bad unit. Again, Thanks!!!!!
Of Course!!
Wavebird all the way.
Such a great controller
@@RoXolid the first good wireless controller, IMHO
I think technically it was the first first-party wireless controller if I'm not mistaken
How does the color compare to composite?
Night and day difference, so much better than Composite!
@@RoXolid Thanks for the reply!
Unless you modded you GameCube for digital out with the digital out mod kit that Dan made then it would work with the dol101
What are your comparing it to? Unless what exactly?
@@RoXolid I think he means that the adapter will only work with a DOL-001 unless you mod your DOL-101 to have digital output
AH, ok. I would think that if you are skilled enough to do the Digital output mpd then doing the HDMI mod would probably be the way one would likely go. I know that's how I would do it myself.
Wow it’s on sale now on Amazon $67.99
Could you make a video of what the 64 or SNES looks like with this hooked up? (That is if it works on those)
Check the review, there's footage of those systems in there. I'm doing the systems I didn't feature in there first before highlighting those alread covered

I've often tried justifying the game cube, but a Wii is also a game cube , much like a Wii u is also a Wii .
Yes, but the video quality is better on the Gamecube than the Wii's GameCube emulation.
U sure u won? lol, cool vid.
I did! SOAB!
@@RoXolid I give you the benefit of doubt.
I have the original video of me reacting to the gameplay, I can always post that!
Do you know if it works for Nintendo 64 as well?
It does not, different port entirely
Thank you for your reply. Was hoping to find a good not too expensive option that would work with both my N64 and GC. Hoping not to have to splash out the cash for one unit per console.
Nothing will work with both.
What about the Kaico or Hyperkin? Those does not work with both consoles?
It's not HD bro it's 480p for ntsc. Sure it connect to the HDMI but it's not high definition. It still looks great for the gamecube.
That's what Retro-Bit calls it.
@@RoXolid Have you had any issues with your HD Prism? I have had sound issues in Phantasy Star Online. The sound will be fine the majority of the game but every so often sound will cut out for about 2-3 seconds. It annoys me when it happens. Is this normal with this adapter? I have not updated the firmware and don't know if updating it will fix it. I am using a Dell 32 inch 4k 1800r curved monitor. I think I heard that the firmware fixes sound issues in some samsung monitors. Not sure if this is a samsung/lg monitor. Also I haven't tested out any other gamecube game because PSO is my baby. I guess I should try out other games.
@@jojowilson2868 No issues at all, it's been absolutely flawless
@@RoXolid The firmware update is suppose to address audio issues on samsung monitors right? This might be a samsung monitor. It's not horrible that it does it but it's annoying. I hope firmware update fixes it. I thought mine might be defective but I am unsure.
@@jojowilson2868 I think that was the case, but I don't totally recall, sorry

There's a table of contents in the See More section.
Can you use this on other systems??
No, it is designed just for the Gamecube.
@@RoXolid so wouldn't the M Classic be the best option for quality price and the ability to connect to many different consoles?
No, because there's no way to get an HDMI out of the Gamecube to be able to go into the mClassic without something like this. NOW, you can go Gamecube -> Prism -> mClassic, that would look even better still, but you have way to directly connect the mClassic to the Gamecube

The gamecube controler is half grabage, half awesome. If the C stick just had a normal analog stick that alone would be a huge improvement. And that D PAD SUCKS.

How come ? I just saw a video of someone in the uk with a pal gamecube and pals smash bross and it totally worked .
No pal??? I dont think so
I think it does 576 on PAL but can't confirm
No rumble? No Wavebird.
What do you mean?
@@RoXolid The Wavebird does not support rumble features. To save battery power, it was literally taken out of the controller.
Gotcha, I thought that's what you meant but wasn't completely sure
👍
Don't get me wrong, you are correct about the freedom the Wavebird provides a user, but I've recently replayed games that I exclusively used the Wavebird on, like Super Mario Sunshine (the Nintendo Gamecube version), and the immersion I initially missed, is disappointing.
Oh I get it. It's one of my criticisms about the Wireless Brawler64. But once I'm playing I don't notice it's gone. With 3 dogs, wireless wins for me

I think the title is misleading
How so?
@@RoXolid the prism isn’t HD. This just allows progressive scan on LCD/LED tvs for a clearer picture. But HD if I’m not mistaken is 720 or higher.
Also I guess it’s not the title it’s the thumbnail caption that’s a bit misleading.
Since the name of the Product is the Prism HD, that's what I based the thumbnail off of.
