Steamdeck 2 is about 2 years away. I’d say if it constantly has you wondering (upgrading) and leaves you emotionally curious when playing your games, go for the upgrade
Being an owner of the lcd and oled I would honestly just wait not that the oled isn't great it most definitely is but it is what it says it is an oled sure you get a few more fps but it's not enough to where it is noticeable. me jumping back and forth between my lcd SD and oled I can't really tell all that much of a difference tbh besides colors being better and the oled not having the screen bleed like the lcd. The new thumb sticks are nice as well but because they resized them it's hard finding thumb grips for them ( I don't want my actual thumb sticks getting dirty ) but I'd say the thumb sticks, track pads, and screen as well as touch are the only real noticeable differences between the two. If you can just wait it out the SD 2 will be well worth the wait. enjoy the SD you already have as it's still a phenomenal device to own!
Honestly, all the pc handhelds out now are good, I just picked the Ally for access to games that I purchased on Xbox side and compatibility with some game anti-cheat requirements , I'm just hoping that Microsoft will eventually release an update to optimize handheld usage once the popularity of these devices reaches its peak.

I think your channel has alot of potential maybe 250k in next year. Keep your vibe, keep the style you dont ramble on much is pretty much to the point with a little opinion added. I think a good video would be showing everyone bunch of little easter eggs you know about for the deck like the track pad scrolling etc im sure there is alot more little things the deck can do that no one knows about.
Wonderful review. Thank you for your honesty. The question of price/performance really is important after the Rog Ally price drop that, at least in the UK, makes it cheaper than the 1tb OLED.
I’m both. I use the Steam Deck as a emulation home and portable console, and I also use it for most old PC games. I use my Desktop PC for all my triple AAA games, more demanding games, RTS games, other games from different launchers, etc. but here is the beauty of it all. Really appreciated this video and the format of pros and cons. I'm getting the Steamdeck OLED in August and I can't wait, but I did want to compare options against other handhelds. On my PC and PS5, I love FPS games and gaming online with my friends, but I'm getting a handheld to chill and relax away from my desk. Dealing with chronic migraines I love the idea of just laying around my room playing games on this handheld and not have to worry about sitting up and playing at my desk or a big tv screen in my face. Also with traveling and getting to play those story driven games I love so much on the go. Just bought 29 games with the Steam summer sale in prep, some I likely wouldn't have on my PC cause I like the idea of just chilling around playing them versus at my desk. You nailed it at the end for viewers with the situation asking if I were to bump into you at a coffee shop and the gaming scenarios, it really clicked for me that the Steamdeck is perfect for what I want. Fantastic video and you earned yourself another sub!

I love how right at the end I was thinking "Finally! A good, comprehensive review! I'm subscribing to this guy." And immediately after he asked for advice to improve his videos. If you see this dude, phenomenal video. I went through like 5 or 6 videos trying to decide this system was worth it for me and none of them broke it down as well as you did. Thank you 🫡
Your voice is so soothing. I just subscribed! :D Your review made me realize I do want Steam Deck and that it is more than enough since I am not a techie gal to begin with. So straightforward SD is better than ROG Ally or Legion Go for me. Thank you. Feels like a stronger Switch for me.
Hey I just thought of something that could be useful for the viewers: If you separate the video into sections, like you did, put the timestamp/sections in the video bar where its easier to jump from section to section (idk what its called but its imbedded in the video progress bar/playhead) Keep up the good work!
I’m simply glade I will never touch a Legion Go or ROG Ally. Because I used to be similar to you in the fact I want the power hungry specs and a very high end handheld if I get one. I’ve calmed down from that point and I understand it’s not practical for my lifestyle, but to not have to deal with those problems because I’ll only ever have the steam deck, is a blessing.
I love the steam deck out of any other handheld PC out there just because of the SD repair-ability. After my warranty expires I'm confident that I would have my SD for a long time, being able to performing an intuitive DIY. Parts are readily available. I'm actually interested in the MSI claw though.
Ive been wanting to get a Steamdeck lately and Ive been watching a lot of videos reviews and the like. Most talked a lot how the OLED has this and that and is a bang for your buck which not gonna lie, I don't really care about the tecxplanation. What I want to know is the performance and how is it as a gamer. Your perspective on a "casual gamer with a Steamdeck" tremendously helps imo and your conclusion is spot on. While I don't care about graphics on Ultra, I do care a lot about view distance and graphics in High settings so thanks, I might get an Ally instead.
I sold my rog ally for the steam deck and honestly I am super happy with my decision. The amount of trouble you have to go through to get a game playing is ridiculous.. especially offline.
I am pretty new to gaming, so I’d say I’m casual. I would not say I’m feeling super ambitious over having good FPS or even graphics. I don’t like shooters and don’t like competitive online play. I just want to play a bunch of rpgs, including Baldurs Gate 3, Skyrim, persona 5, hogwarts legacy, and more. I might get a terabyte sd card to make it easier so I don’t have to constantly delete and redownload. I might also play some old GameCube games I have with an emulator. It will be nice to have it all in one place. It may not be perfect, but to me it sounds like I didn’t make a mistake in buying it as a new, unambitious, casual, and noncompetitive gamer.
A month ago, I was choosing between SD OLED and the Ally. While the Ally is great spec-wise, I've had experience with ROG gaming laptops and trust Valve more as a company. I got the SD OLED instead: the battery life and oled is really its strong suit now. For witcher 3 and shipbreaker, I can get 3 hrs easy. My experience with gaming laptops only gets me 1hr to 1hr 40mins. Despite being a laptop, it's not great playing it on your lap 😂😂😂 The OLED screen looks pretty at the same time is a magic sauce for the system. The 90hz screen locked at 45 fps resulted in a more stable, smoother experience while demanding less resources. From my time playing the Deck, there's not really any noticeable difference from 60fps (maybe in fast-paced competitive game, it can be a vast difference, maybe).
Great point about the type of games determining the device you should go with! That is something I haven't really heard, as simple of a statement as it is. My LeGo is my first handheld, but I like RPG games better than shooters and don't care about the highest settings. The SD may have been a better choice for me. Playnite is my fav launcher so far, and really helps it to feel like a console. My biggest pain point for the LeGo is lack of quick resume, so making time for gaming has to be more intentional. Your channel has good vibes, keep it up!
Hi mate I just want to tell you that your video is as awesome in the fact that you’re honest that’s what I love keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing a lot more in the future. Cheers.
I would love a video of games that surprisingly run really well on the steam deck or games that look beautiful at 60 fps. For example I heard Mad Max looks great. Same with need for speed
Awesome video man, it just popped up in my feed. Picked up a second hand 64gb LCD Steam Deck on Tuesday, absolutely love it. I'll be upgrading the SSD and grabbing a micro sd for it.
About performance Steam has a huge advantage over competition and it's shader cache. Framerate might be lower but it's more stable and smooth and to me at least, it's a very big deal.
I agree on the battery, I don't see the need for having to plug the steam deck in for hours. Especially if I do emulation, I can play for at least 3-4hours and not worry about battery. I love my steam deck.
I preordered the original 512gb model and loved it so much I went ahead and bought the OLED two days ago. Now the waiting game on its arrival. I'm also a Valve fanboy so... Each person needs to decide on their own if it's for them or not. Personally, I love the steam deck. As for games not being verified, many that aren't, are still totally playable. You just may need to pull up the onscreen keyboard on occasion. No biggy to me.
Been planning to add the Steam deck oled to my growing collection of handhelds. Btw, I enjoyed listening to your background music while I was working. Very relaxing. 😊
I agree on the upgrade, it’s not totally worth it, but in my case, I’m active duty military and I was able to sell my OG model to someone for their upcoming deployment, so I used the funds for the upgrade! Again man love these videos, keep it up 🔥
As always your reasoning is linear and explanatory. As my birthday approaches, I'm actually considering a purchase. In my case, with age (haha) I'm starting to have vision problems, so a legion go would be the best choice, also thanks to the detachable controllers which would allow me to have more options for playing positions. However, even if I am a Windows user for work reasons, the really irritating thing would be to find myself available to play the game for an hour and lose it in various settings. To date I haven't decided as Steam wouldn't allow me to play some titles. Anyway ,Thanks for the explanations
"Oh, sir! excuse me. Stop the train, Cyber Dopamine dropped a video. Must watch!" 😅 On a serious note, thank you for the honesty, it comes through clear and it's not pushy in any direction. Keep them coming CD. Your efforts are appreciated.
6:15 this really got me thinking where I live the oled is so much more expensive and if the difference is not something that crazy I rally should just get the lcd one the only think that makes me think about it is the battery, also nice vid man got a bunch out of it with the perspective you gave from using the legion go EDIT: also from where Im from I can actually get the legion go for the same price as the oled 512gb
I had multiple handheld before like Retroid Pocket or Miyoo mini and only used it time to time. Since I have the Deck I use it almost everyday and that's despite the fact that I own a big oled tv for gaming. Sometime it's just nice to chill in your bed and play. I also use moonlight that can do flawless hdr streaming over wifi 6 (tips for you, use the 2560x1600 resolution on your PC and cap the framerate to 90 fps with RTSS, it's buttersmooth and really detailed even with a 800p screen). I also really enjoy playing older PC game that are suppose to work only with a mouse using the trackpad and joystick. For instance currently I play Thief from 1998. OLED to me is a really big deal because I care about color uniformity and also deep black. Thief for instance is very dark and it make a huge immersion difference if you use a simple LCD screen. I'm gonna buy an OLED monitor too because IPS has just so many problems (uniformity, bad blacks, backlight bleed, etc)
After trying the Switch OLED, I felt like the colors were so off on my original Steam deck. I play a lot of indie games with bright colorful graphics so the OLED is really fantastic, very noticeable. No regrets selling and buying the new version. Also battery life is SIGNIFICANTLY better and it’s somehow lighter than the original.
if you care about HDR (once you try it you won't want to go back) I think it's totally worth the upgrade. Currently there isn't a lot of game supporting it, unless you do PC streaming, but if valve implement some kind of auto-HDR and I think they will, then it will be a killer feature.
I like the outro and interaction in comments is good, i listened to the video for the most part, but i thought this actually one of the best takes out of the 20 steam deck oled reviews, calm, collected and objective, i am going to emulate, and i am going to mod morrowind with openmw to make it run native linux, and i play oblivion, skyrim and a lot of older games i want to catch up on, and i like the fact i can use this machine as a computer if i need to have a big screen or get some work done, God bless, hope you do well, i'll give ya a subscribe, hope to see more about the steam deck, we can learn together :D
I hope valve can figure something out, not being able to play multiplayer out the box kinda sucks. Ima about to pick up a legion go. Good video brother
I just worry the battery life as the more u play the more u charge. And of course nowadays we know build in battery do had lifespan which last average 2-4 years depend how often it use.
Alright... stupid question time. (Steam deck owners that possibly see this comment, please let me know!) What is the screen burn in time for oled? I play a lot of games with static elements on the hud, I mean... hundreds to thousands of hours on said games. Do I have to worry about screen burn in after just a few hours?
10 degress less on steam deck oled is actually that makes me want to buy it. the original SD is hot, both on steamOS and windows. for example when i play genshin, I get 80+ degress celcius
Just watch 10min ago and then ordered the old steam deck ! Thanks mate! It will last until a new steam deck that can almost run AAA games as a pc with a decent graphics card Sub !

You helped me decide to buy a steam deck. It will be my first “pc” gaming since 2000. Thanks man!
Heck yeah welcome back brotha we missed you! You’re gonna have a blast
Great honest review. I think I will wait before buying a hand held console, it’s nearly there but not yet.love the calming music, the pace of the video. Subbed.
his voice is so chill, subscribed :) and thanks for a good review ...im still in dilemma which one to get :(
Thanks!! What games do you play?
I love how right at the end I was thinking "Finally! A good, comprehensive review! I'm subscribing to this guy." And immediately after he asked for advice to improve his videos. If you see this dude, phenomenal video. I went through like 5 or 6 videos trying to decide this system was worth it for me and none of them broke it down as well as you did. Thank you 🫡
Oh bro that’s awesome! I’m glad I got the nail pretty well with this vid. Thanks for the comment dude it means a lot
Great video bud, you have such a great and humble personality. Looking forward to seeing your channel grow!
You are a very genuine reviewer. Love hearing your take on stuff
Thank you! Glad I could help
Have the lcd model and have been liking the idea of the extra battery life. You reckon its not worth the upgrade and paying the extra bucks for?
Hey I just thought of something that could be useful for the viewers:
If you separate the video into sections, like you did, put the timestamp/sections in the video bar where its easier to jump from section to section (idk what its called but its imbedded in the video progress bar/playhead)
Keep up the good work!
Good point. It is fun to take apart the steamdeck
Valve is the company to back 109%
Cant believe this kid is only on 16k subs, should easily be on 100k, keep up the good wook, I look forward to next vid.
Heck yeah! I'm glad this helped. I dont want to be that tech expert kinda person. I want it to be relatable
Despite being a laptop, it's not great playing it on your lap 😂😂😂
The OLED screen looks pretty at the same time is a magic sauce for the system. The 90hz screen locked at 45 fps resulted in a more stable, smoother experience while demanding less resources. From my time playing the Deck, there's not really any noticeable difference from 60fps (maybe in fast-paced competitive game, it can be a vast difference, maybe).
Super good input I hope more people read this
I just couldn’t get behind the ally because of the SD card issue.
AMD! THEY JUST UPDATED SLEEP FEATURE
@@CyberDopamine I'd love to see a video about this
Took a while for me to get into the style, but I found this review incredibly candid
Oh yeah its freaking awesome. Have a blast with it!
About performance Steam has a huge advantage over competition and it's shader cache. Framerate might be lower but it's more stable and smooth and to me at least, it's a very big deal.
This man has a bright future on this platform. Imagine putting this level of quality content so early in your channel. 🔥🔥
Love hearing that. I’m gonna keep at it! Would be a dream to do this full time
No dude this is legit
@@Worthless. mans called me a bot bruh
Them cheekbones are slick bro.
Wish I had that kind of cheekbone.
I agree on the battery, I don't see the need for having to plug the steam deck in for hours. Especially if I do emulation, I can play for at least 3-4hours and not worry about battery. I love my steam deck.
The steamdeck loves you tooo
Bro, your jaw line is crazy. Good video.
Hahahaha thanks!
The Honda Civic analogy is spot on, dude. Well put.
Dude thanks!
Preech. Super good input
Been planning to add the Steam deck oled to my growing collection of handhelds. Btw, I enjoyed listening to your background music while I was working. Very relaxing. 😊
Lofi house music brotha. its the bees knees. Thanks a lot!
@@CyberDopamine the one that you are playing, what is the exact title if you don't mind.
I agree on the upgrade, it’s not totally worth it, but in my case, I’m active duty military and I was able to sell my OG model to someone for their upcoming deployment, so I used the funds for the upgrade! Again man love these videos, keep it up 🔥
Bro thank you for what you do man. Massive respect.
I just bought the Steam OLED, thank you for sharing your views
Have fun!
it might be worth showing what settings you play your favourite games on, just to show off smoothness/quality settings you prefer
Love the ladybug in the background 🐞 great video as well, it helped me with being more realistic with my OLED! :)
My girlfriend painted that isnt it freaking cute? Glad I could help you out
I like the chill style of your videos, keep it up!
A video on Palworld performance on Ally would be great. :)
EDIT: Oh and the optimal setting for gameplay docked, and undocked.
Noted!
"Oh, sir! excuse me. Stop the train, Cyber Dopamine dropped a video. Must watch!" 😅 On a serious note, thank you for the honesty, it comes through clear and it's not pushy in any direction. Keep them coming CD. Your efforts are appreciated.
Hahahah I love it. Thank you! I’ll try to keep it that way
I need a honest review for this dude’s jawline
hahah thats funny. 1. I;m very skinny and cant gain weight. (idk why) 2. Mom looks like a skeleton
6:15 this really got me thinking where I live the oled is so much more expensive and if the difference is not something that crazy I rally should just get the lcd one the only think that makes me think about it is the battery, also nice vid man got a bunch out of it with the perspective you gave from using the legion go
EDIT: also from where Im from I can actually get the legion go for the same price as the oled 512gb
That jaw line tho 🗿
Sweet voice, interesting and detailed content. Good review.
Your review is very thorough and makes excellent points. Great job!
Glad it helped!
This was a fantastic review, thx man.
No worries!
You very intelligent and know what your talking about,i hope your channel blows up, keep up the good work 👍🏼
Oh thats super nice. Thanks!!
Switch def bumps up the saturation a little bit. Glad you enjoy it!
This is a good review that check out as much as possible to people's different usage
Hope you go bigger :D
Thank you! That is the plan!
if you care about HDR (once you try it you won't want to go back) I think it's totally worth the upgrade. Currently there isn't a lot of game supporting it, unless you do PC streaming, but if valve implement some kind of auto-HDR and I think they will, then it will be a killer feature.
Good review laid back and relaxed in your presentation, no nonsense with the truth- keep it up, Subscribed!
love it thank you so muich
Wonderful video, very informative and such a relaxed vibe. I like it, much better than all the fast paced super hyper type of content out there
Thanks for letting me know! I plan to keep it this way
thanks for going in depth i needed to hear this
I like the outro and interaction in comments is good, i listened to the video for the most part, but i thought this actually one of the best takes out of the 20 steam deck oled reviews, calm, collected and objective, i am going to emulate, and i am going to mod morrowind with openmw to make it run native linux, and i play oblivion, skyrim and a lot of older games i want to catch up on, and i like the fact i can use this machine as a computer if i need to have a big screen or get some work done, God bless, hope you do well, i'll give ya a subscribe, hope to see more about the steam deck, we can learn together :D
Thats freaking awesome dude thanks for that comment. Skyblivion coming pretty soon too
It depends. I had the 64gb model and I'm so glad to upgrade. 64gb was giving me such a headache when updating my emulators and software.
I hope valve can figure something out, not being able to play multiplayer out the box kinda sucks. Ima about to pick up a legion go. Good video brother
Valve is onto it dude. Just takes time and its the Anti cheat developers that gotta make it compatible so its just time
God love your videos and music. Very chill brother.
thaaaaaaaaankssssssssss
I just worry the battery life as the more u play the more u charge. And of course nowadays we know build in battery do had lifespan which last average 2-4 years depend how often it use.
I have an OG Steam Deck, but I want the OLED for the 90Hz display alone. Outside of that, I don't care much for it.
Alright... stupid question time. (Steam deck owners that possibly see this comment, please let me know!) What is the screen burn in time for oled? I play a lot of games with static elements on the hud, I mean... hundreds to thousands of hours on said games. Do I have to worry about screen burn in after just a few hours?
hi😊 no you dont need to worry about
You're good, Trust me.
Subbed! Was a proper chill video and a nice watch :). Keep making good videos!
Hekc yeah thanks! I plan on doing just that my friend :)
10 degress less on steam deck oled is actually that makes me want to buy it. the original SD is hot, both on steamOS and windows. for example when i play genshin, I get 80+ degress celcius
You have a beautiful soul dude. You earned my sub...
Oh that’s awesome. Haven’t heard that one before thanks a lot!!!
Just watch 10min ago and then ordered the old steam deck !
Thanks mate!
It will last until a new steam deck that can almost run AAA games as a pc with a decent graphics card
Sub !
Heck yeah bro youre gonna freaking love it!!!!!!!
subscribed, love your vibe and personality
heck yeah thanks!!!
Valve didnt "have to use" linux. They "wanted to use" it. And did a hell of a job.
Thank you for this vídeo, i Just know this Channel is going to be huge subscribed
Dang, no domo, but my boys got gigachad jaw!
