This is an excellent summary of driving both highways and echoes our own experience in 2016 (except the Dempster extension to Tuk wasn't yet open). And my favorite of the two was the Dempster because, despite the towns, there was more solitude on it. A lot less truck traffic. And yet, you do encounter more people because of actual towns and the ferry crossings. And those people live there, rather than being workers there. However, we saw a lot of wildlife on the Dalton, especially on the North Slope, and next to nothing on the Dempster. Which seemed a bit strange. Anyway, great video that anyone planning to drive either road would do well to watch. Thanks a bunch!
Thanbk you Mark. Yes, indeed - I did not mention that: On the Dalton we also saw a lot of wildlife on the North Slope. And really nothing on the Dempster (except billions of mosquitos haha). Locals told us that in September lots of wildlife can be seen on the Dempster but in the summer, the growing season, they all hide in the forest. So ... if I ever go back into that region I'd drive it in late August or September.
Excellent. Focused, on point, actionable information to help your fellow travelers and over landers. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Jacob, your comment is very appreciated
Very informative episode looks amazing. Jiew looks so confident.
Have a great time Gerald.
Thanks Gerald. We hope one day you also make it up there. It is really beautiful despite all the loneliness and the mosquitos
"Jiew looks so confident."
No surprise! With an earlier swiss clockmaker (master of time!) on her side, the future should be safe... 😎
