I remember whenever the lunch bell would ring, everyone would be excited for free time, and I would be stressing out in my head because I had to find a way to pass an hour without looking like a weird loner.
I have to say you are one of the most courageous, level headed and down to Earth people around. It took guts to let viewers know what you've been through. I especially admire how you overcame adversity and the triumphs you have achieved. To an extent your life and mine have similarities. I've been through bouts of OCD and eating disorders. I don't look back on my public school years as a wonderful phase of my life. Yet we both can look back and see how good things are today. And, in some ways, the extremes we've experienced have made life today so much easier to handle. While many people may appear to have especially grand surroundings and be living in finery they're probably one paycheck away from disaster. I'm thankful that I can hear the alarm clock in the AM, for the water heater providing a hot shower, for a car that starts every time and for not being in debt. That last aspect is the one that gives me the most comfort. Well, got to run, but thank you for putting up a new video. Good luck with everything today and I'll look for you again!
Thanks so much for sharing and listening; it means a lot. I'm glad you enjoyed it and could in some ways, relate. It sounds like you have a great head on your shoulders. Wishing you the best :)
@@brisbreathing Hello again! And thank you for your note. It's good that you and I can understand each other's travails and triumphs. I had to go for a blood draw this afternoon. The nurse introduced me to a trainee (a Mott Community College alumni like myself) and asked if I could be an "observed guinea pig." No problem! Practice makes perfect and those two ladies had a great rapport. Plus, this was a very pain free experience. I was glad I could help someone with their on the job training. Likewise, if you and I lived nearby I'd enjoy being someone you could connect with and turn to in a pinch. The jumper cables and the Mister Fix-It tool set are always ready for action. TTY again soon!
thank you for posting this ! i'm not autistic, but i do have ocd, gad and selective mutism and was diagnosed at fifteen. i had to leave school when i was fourteen because it was like genuine torture and received no support from school because nobody could actually say what i needed help with because i wasn't diagnosed at that point. i firmly believe most schools are not meant to accomodate neurodivergent people. i'm sixteen now and i've left school and i'm now studying hairdressing which is going great cause my tutor is incredibly supportive and recognises my potential. best wishes to you.
They’re definitely not and it’s pretty unfortunate, but I’m glad there are/were alternatives to fall back on. It’s great to hear that things are going well for you now! Thanks for listening :)
Thanks so much for sharing your story Brie. Your public school experience sounds absolutely awful I’m so sorry you had to go through that. A lot of what you said reminded me of what I’ve been watching my brother go through this year he had a really hard time transitioning from elementary school to middle school and while initially I attributed to more of a environmental thing related to personal difficulties we’ve had in our family and his emotional responses to the challenge of that, the more I learn from individuals such as yourself who are late diagnosed adults, the more I think that autism might also be part of the picture and it would explain a lot about what is being overlooked and why certain things we tried haven’t worked.
Thank you for listening! I’m sorry to hear about your brother. It can be really challenging for anyone but especially a child or teen. I’m glad you found it at least a bit insightful.
Saw you took down your last short, and wanted to say that the Internet is great for gaining a better introspective perspective on yourself. Have you thought of having other autistic people on this channel to talk about certain themes?

This is exactly it
