Ha! I was just lookin at hats and Lane's name pops up! God bless him. Lane Frost was a 3rd cousin of mine and my granny's favorite. I'm glad Lane is still part of the conversation no matter if it's bull riding, cowboy hats, or just Oklahoma cowboy life.
I bought this hat and LOVE IT... I reshaped the brim. It literally only took 5 to 10 minutes. Wasn't into that square brim on me, but in no time with very little effort, I made it exactly the way I wanted. Thanks for the recommendation.

I am not a fan of "vented" straw hats, which is why I like the Square so much. I am sure they are cooler, especially during the prolonged summers here in southcentral Texas; but in my opinion they just look cheap.

As always another great video! One thing, the crown is more of a "square" or "brick" crease, the RCA crease is similar, but the front tapers and narrows down just a bit. Almost like a pinch front crease. It's also noted for being slightly higher in the front than in the back.
Stetson markets it as having the “Bull Rider” crease, so I went with their assessment. Figured they’re in the hat making business, so who am I to argue…
I agree with the other person I would not reshape that I like the brim shape never knew that it had a name to it and the crown of the hat that is a nice looking hat man for sure
All of my hats with the exception of the Open Roads have 4-inch brims or bigger. The ORs are, of course, 2-3/4 inches. In the past year, I’ve had a large malignant melanoma surgically removed from my right cheek and two facial reconstruction surgeries that followed, so my Stetsons serve as much needed sun protection when I wear them. Plus, most folks say a big guy like me needs a big brimmed hat.
I’ve done videos on the Stetson 10X Rancher straw and the 10x and 6x Open Road straws if those can help you decide which is best for you. Thanks for watching!
Many have recommended Akubra hats, and I’ve heard great things about them. My late father wore only Stetsons, though, and he swore by them, so in tribute to Dad, I am a Stetson loyalist, too.
Many thanks. Since I buy hats through the Internet without trying them on first and then unbox them on video, I have been quite lucky and very pleased with just about all of the ones I’ve purchased. I’m sure I’ll buy one that makes me look totally dopey before too long.
Well, thanks to HNMC's videos, I now own one of these as well (he was also responsible for my buying a Stetson Marshall!). It is an excellent hat, a little hard to come by as Amazon was continually out of stock (after cancelling my order three times!) but I finally found one at Murdoch's here in Texas. It fits true to size for me, I got the same exact size as my other Stetsons (I also have a Rancher) and it fits perfectly without any issues. For the price I am extremely pleased with it, but I have to stop watching HNMC's videos as I don't know how many more Stetsons my wife is going to let me buy!! :D

Amazon prices are like buying airplane tickets. The prices go up and down depending upon whether you buy at “peak” times or “off” times. I was looking at a pair of boots on Amazon the other day, and the price dropped almost $40 in a couple of hours. Just keep checking at various times, and you’ll probably find the same $60 with PRIME shipping deal that I did.
Well, I never got around to reshaping it. I just wear it like it is and watch my wife grit her teeth because she's not at all a fan of the way it looks...
I like the WTP, but then again, I'm in Westest Texas, so maybe I'm biased. You should consider shooting a video while reshaping the hat in the bathtub.

If it ain’t made BY Stetson, it’s made FOR Stetson. Sweatband states it plain as day, and it’s in the Stetson catalog. Don’t know why anyone would question it. Ain’t like anybody is going to counterfeit a $60 palm lead hat.
I bought the Stetson Square Mexican palm hat, and Stetson customer service claims the sweatband is "genuine leather." However, it looks and feels like vinyl or plastic to me. When I applied heat, it shrank like plastic, further confirming my suspicion that it's not real leather. Am I misunderstanding something about this material, or is Stetson being dishonest?
In my most recent unboxing video of the Resistol Amarillo Sky, I noted that I wore the Stetson Square in a pouring rain at an all-day music festival, and it performed fantastically. Yeah, i'd forgotten about the specific sweatband in that hat. I now own a few dozen Stetsons, and it's impossible to remember which one has which sweatband. Leather, pleather, naugahyde or whatever kind of sweatband it is, the palm straw Stetson Square is a good hat for rain or shine. Ain't exactly the prettiest or most expensive hat, but it serves its purpose well.
Looks like Stetson doesn’t offer this one anymore. So I went to my local Cavender’s and found a very similar palm leaf straw hat for $39. Made in Mexico.

The hat looks good on you the way it is, but I understand, I like a certain style as well. How in the heck do they make a hat like that for under $70. I can't imagine the labor that goes into that hat because a lot, or most of that is hand work. Must be paying little Mexican children 2 cents a day.
I dont like the square hats all that much. Its the mark of a cheaper hat unless its custome done. I just reshaped my classic straw stallion stetson and its got a great curve to it. But my mad hatters of texas, is my friday night special, a new clean dress type. But its git the standard square shape that justins and ariat also have. Its cookie cutter stuff.
That's exactly why I clearly said it's the kind of hat you can wear while jumping in a lake, you can throw it carelessly in the back of your car or truck, and if something happens to it, there's no big loss.
