- Toyota Hilux Champ, Toyota Tamaraw or Toyota Hilux IMV-0 is a light commercial vehicle sitting below regular Hilux. The Toyota IMV platform is an automobile platform for SUVs, pickups/light trucks and passenger cars. The name "IMV" stands for "Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle". It uses a ladder frame chassis construction with two body style a Short-wheel-base and Long-wheel-base. Three engine available a 2.0 Litre N/A 1TR-FE (139 PS), a 2.7 Litre 2TR-FE (166 PS) and 2.4 litre turbo diesel 2GD-FTV (150 PS).

Toyota has plants in the US. Doesn't require permission to build from lobbyists or politicians.
It looks like the heart of these trucks are what made Toyota. Tough basic trucks. Not opulent but comfortable.
This vehicle is just what we need in every country. Modern vehicles have become far too big and too laden down with expensive and unnecessary gimmicks. All you need is power steering, a powerful heater and a good radio and speakers. I have owned and loved a Mazda and a Toyota pickup in the past but the modern ones are ridiculous. I now have a 24 year old Renault Kangoo and I would not swap it for any luxury car.

@@wilvaro1979h sadly it will not pass safety requirements for other countries so they will have to put abs, and airbags in it maybe other things so they'll either make the price double for a base model or not introduce it to countries like USA, England, Australia, etc.

Not filled with alot of bs tech, just functional, rugged and to a good price. This is what we want.
This brings back memories of the beauty of simplicity from the old school hilux and land cruisers. They’ve just added usb charging point and a screen. Good drink holders, great tray. It’s a Toyota, it’ll go for half a century. This is a game changer in the utility truck market.
Cheap and cheerful. No “bells or whistles” just a basic truck which is what most real truck users need. Modern trucks are just high end SUV’s with a bed and a complete waste of money.

Almost every European truck /van has this feature. Its necessary when loading heavy stuff with forklift.

Yup, Car manufacturers are missing the boat on no frills, I drive older simple vehicles because of the simplicity, my work car is a 23 Outback that 7 out of 10 times the electronics fails to connect to my phone, I buy cheap Bluetooth connectors off Amazon for the older cars that connect 100 percent of the time. They can keep the bells and whistles, I want simple and cheap. A Shame we'll never see this truck in the US for $10k, but it shows manufacturers can certainly make a cheaper vehicles for the common folk.

Finally a real Work Truck for us that do not want leather heated seats and carpet for $50k and up. In mid 70's a stripper van was cheapest vehicle on lot. A passenger seat was extra. Then next cheapest was a plain old pick up truck with rubber on floor and a bench seat. The price of a work van is north of $50k, which is ridicule's.
We need these all over the world, especially in northern europe!!!

I am 62 and figured the vehicle I have now would be the last and I would drive it till it ain't no more. I refuse to buy a new vehicle because they are overpriced with bells and whistles I never use. Toyota is on the right track here and I would definitely consider another vehicle if I could get something basic. I can afford more but I don't want more .. just the fact that Toyota is even thinking along these lines make me want to support them. Good on them.

For a non-pickup person, the craziest part of it is not only its price, but it actually looks cool as hell.
I have been looking for something to shuttle family friends back and forth to beach to keep my car clean, if this comes to US I am all over this! Buy a stripped down version then build the back as people and beach gear hauler, perfect solution to my needs.

I had one for years. Amazing truck! Off roading every weekend with it, and sold it with 300k miles on the original drive train. Everything still worked perfectly. Except the cigarette lighter lol
