    This video is great and very helpful! One thing I learned installing an a 98 hx that didnt come with ac from the factory is that in addition to the wiring harness, you have to get relays for the compressor clutch and the condenser fan AND a little diode that sits in the fuse box, which makes the fan work. I was chasing it around for days until I figured it out.

      In 2024 eks and egs are abudant in junk yards so getting all those pieces is not a hassle

    Great video. I'm going to look at a sedan that has a b20b but no AC. Hoping most of the components are there if not it doesnt seem like too big a deal to install it all.

    I bought a rebuilt Honda CX as my first car that I knew didn’t have working AC, which I assumed it was just not installed since it came as optional on that spec model. Come to find out the whole AC system was in it and it was only missing the belt 😅

    What's that exact name of that plug ? And where does it run down from ?

    Great video. Just getting ready to do this job. Is you cordless ratchet 3/8. What kind is it, and where did you get it? Also, can you take the a/c bracket off (for the belt) with the compressor still on it? Thanks again.

      Snap on. 3/8 power ratchet. We got it from a friend. And No you can't really take the bracket off without taking the compressor off first.

    I bought an auto 98 EK with a bad transmission and no AC. I purchased a 99 sedan with the same engine but its a manual with AC. Two things, can I just pull the entire engine and transmission with the accessories and put the newer dash and climate control into the EK or would there be an issue with the computers as both airbags deployed in the sedan, but the EK only has a drivers airbag. Thanks.

    I have an all factory 94 EX Coupe. 5 speed,
    Bought in 1997....
    Went with solid motor mounts, street 75A poly on all 4 Innovative mounts.
    Q. I have very little vibration, until I turn on my factory A/C.. Especially in very hot weather, steering wheel vibrates big time at idle..! Driving no vibration...
    Is this normal for solid mounts?
    Do you guys have a solution on eliminating A/C vibration on your cars....?
    Love my solid mounts, except the A/ C at idle.. My A/C comressor is original factory, but was rebuilt years ago..
    Thanks!

    when you have everything installed and before you take the car to a shop to get it properly vacuumed and charged, is there any risk of damaging any of the a/c components on the drive over since the belt is hooked up to the compressor and it is running with the motor? Just wondering in case the oil level of the compressor is low or anything like that if there is a risk of running the compressor vs. just leaving the belt off until its vacuumed and refilled at an a/c shop.

    • @HondaStreetGarage
      @HondaStreetGarage  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No because the compressor will not activate without a charge.

    • @HondaStreetGarage
      @HondaStreetGarage  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually a full system should go for around $250 on eBay. But I've seen systems sell for $50 on a part out. $150 is prob the average price.

    • @WindyCityRicky
      @WindyCityRicky 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Honda Street Garage okay thanks. what are the parts I would need to do a full install?

    • @HondaStreetGarage
      @HondaStreetGarage  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Ricardo Gonzalez AC system is .... The compressor, dryer, condenser, condenser fan, pressure switch, hard lines, (under the hood) also evaporator, expansion valve, climate control/AC button (under their dash) and of course wiring harness for the AC system as well as the AC compressor/fan Relays. Also if the system has been open to the air at all it NEEDS to be vacuumed! Before filling with freon to remove any air in the system because once the system is pressurized the air turns to water and that destroys the AC compressor. That's why a new dryer is always recommended because is can't hold to much water.

    Hi! Do EKs without a/c from factory have that plug at 0:51? And do I have to get this harness (4:10) from a A/C EK? I already have the evavorator installed behind the dash, so there are places for A/C lines in the firewall.

      +Honda Street Garage Oh okay. Sucks your work would be appreciated in here California. Idk where your at but here in Southern California, there little car shops. there all shops that ruin your cars worse than it was when it came in. And alot if places over charge. I'm busy with college and have no time for mechanics right now. I'm just trying to maintain m vehicle and restore my body kit and, a/c, and interior. I'd drive up to any shop that does honest hard work . Now that's hard to find these days!

    Is really important to have the driver side lower motor mouth? If so can u explain me why?

    • @HondaStreetGarage
      @HondaStreetGarage  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm assuming you're referring to the lower front torque mount. Most after market solid mount kits do not require them. However they are necessary with stock mounts because they prevent the engine from rotating to much when the engine revs and the clutch engages. They also absorb vibrations as well as keep your engine in place and premature cv axle/ shift linkage wear and failure.

    • @michaelc5019
      @michaelc5019 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Honda Street Garage I have a 94 EH9 and has all AC components but the compressor clutch is bad, wanting to replace the compressor but with it being a 22 year old system, any suggestions on what else to replace along with the compressor? maybe the Drier or Condenser or just the compressor? clutch is definetly bad on it, I'd imagine that's why previous owner stopped using it

    • @HondaStreetGarage
      @HondaStreetGarage  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Michael C a new dryer,compressor,condenser would make the system work like new. I would even replace the expansion valve ( under the dash attached to the evaporator) and pressure switch. to make sure the system was like new. Most parts are cheap with the compressor being the most expensive part.
