- Today we'll be going over how to install a Tachometer cluster into a 1996-2000 Honda Civic! If you have a base model with no tach, this is the EASIEST way to install one. Absolutely no wiring necessary, it's plug and play! This method also shows you how to swap over your odometer to the new cluster and keep the mileage reading from your car!

Just had a tachometer cluster given to me. Glad it's a easy swap thanks for showing everyone how to man.
I have an 96 DX hatch automatic. My speedo went bad, picked up a 2000 EX cluster at pick apart for $34. Went home and swapped out my old DX basic cluster in about 10 mins. It was that simple. Plug and play.
im gonna do this to my car and ur so sincere and humbled especially at the end i really enjoyed the tutorial also. Thanks!!
Glad I could help!
thanks for this, just got a 00 dx and with it being my first manual daily having no tach is a pain lol i hate doing bad shifts cause im not familiar with the car yet
Happy to help!
Thanks to your video it motivated me to do the same swap for my newly acquired 97 cx manual, thank you for this well explained tutorial.
Just got done with mine successfully. Thank you so much for this very helpful video!!
No problem!
I have a 96 honda civic dx automatic transmission that doesn't have a tachometer (just like the one you initially had). Would like to swap out my cluster and have the tachometer.
Will a 99 EX/LX cluster panel fit my 96 Honda Civic DX? Both with automatic transmission.
Hey man just a curious question.. if I buy an automatic cluster, can I also buy a manual fuel/temp gauge without the PRNDD2 and easily swap that gauge out in the future?
I like the idea of the automatic one, you think it's plug and play as well? knows the gears its in with the lights? My automatic doesnt have rpm. would be nice to know it
You can install a 95-01 CRV cluster also if you don't like the blue color on the gauges
Won't fit

If you don’t mind bro do you know any link to order those faces ?
do you still have that cluster for the automatic?
I have an automatic 96 civic dx and theres no hook up for the tach only the 2 blue harnesses the yellow and then the green for the fuel guage. What should i do?
Just plug everything in and it should work.
@@OldieProductions it doesn't
@@OldieProductions theres a hookup spot to plug something else in but nothing in my car to hook it up to
@@ChiraqUrbex Is yours an automatic?
@@OldieProductions yes
Que bien muchas gracias 🎉
I’m looking at a 97 civic that’s for sale near me. This is useful for me to see as the Civic that I’m planning on buying doesn’t have a tach
Absolutely! Start searching your local junkyards, these tach clusters are worth a good penny on ebay so people grab them up to resell.
Hey I'm searching for one a those to purchase for my automatic car
Good stuff!
So if I get the automatic one and I have a auto civic there will be the extra plug for that right side of the tach?
Yep. It will be plug and play.
Is it possible to keep the original cluster and just swap out the temp gauge for a tach and the fuel gauge for the fuel/temp combo, with or without the gear indicator?
I have no idea. That’s something you would need to research or try for yourself.
@@OldieProductions just found my answer on a forum, it turns out this isn’t possible
Too good
Hey, Bud. I had a quick question. I got the same cluster (Automatic version) from a civic today at the pick and pull. I have a 99' EK hatchback. The speedometer is working but the fuel and temp gauge as well as the tach aren't working, any thoughts?
Did you plug everything in? Cluster itself could have an issue. I’m 99% positive the auto clusters work but I’m not sure.
@@OldieProductions I've heard they do, I just hope the cluster isn't FUBAR
@@ryansenpai1003 I would try cleaning connections first.
I snapped the clips lmao
I have an 04 ex manual and it’s my first car. Where and how can i install a tach? Mine does not have a tach and that’s upsetting
I'm in a similar boat. I have an '02 DX with a manual, and I would like to have a tach for essentially an upcoming "track day lite."
Thank you bro
No problem!
Would this work for a 1993 Honda civic dx ?
This specific tach, no it would not. 93 is completely different from 96-00.
I have 170k on my DX cluster so I got one from a EX with 104k for $30. Say less.
Can you convert a cluster without a tach to have a tach

Perfect
Love the fully in-depth videos❤️🫡 taught me a lot, didn’t know I could actually do so much on my car by my self
That’s ultimately the goal with this series!
