  • On todays video I install the only part in EG hatch's AC system that did not need to be replace.....my AC Evaporator!!! Alll the other parts were removed for SPEEEEED!!!!
    If you guys are interested in adding a Cabin Air Filter into your 5th Gen Civic or even a 6th Gen (since some of them didn't actually have them) this is the video for you. Check out the next video to see if I can actually get AC to work in my little Hatchback too....
    -GoodSpeed
    ‼️*IMPORTANT*‼️
    Im not sure why but certain model civics (6th Gen) had different evaporators installed. Idk if it was aftermarket replacement or not but they had the square evaporators that fit into their housing. Hard to tell if the housing was different but the ROUND Evaporator fit in BOTH while the SQUARE evaporators only fit in the square housings.
    Parts Used:
    2000 Honda Civic Evap. Housing Unit
    2000 Honda Civic Evaporator
    1995 Honda Civic Expansion Valve (same part number as 2000 honda civic)
    2000 Honda CRV Cabin Air Filter (MicroGard 3018)

    Wow i remember doing this like 10 years ago when i had my 97 EK.i just wish current model cars were these easy to change the evaporator. Today’s CRVs needs the whole dash to come out just to change the evaporator if you don’t want any cutting done to the dash 😩

      Thanks bro I’ve replaced compressor, drier, and condenser and had the system recharged however I’ve yet to replace the evaporator. System blows cold but I know it could perform better if I just complete these last pieces of the puzzle. Knowing this now gives me peace of mind! 🤙🏻😎

  • @johnsmithnonya46
    @johnsmithnonya46 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Awesome video.
    To be clear oil is not needed in the evaporator. However they make assumptions on how much oil each part should have in it therefore how much is lost when you replace a part, and instead of measuring how much you drain, just replace with the thumb rule amount.
    I just want a cabin air filter, no ac. Do I need to keep the evaporator installed for the cabin air filter not to be loose, or will the plastic cage keep it all rigid if I get a box from the junkyard and just remove the evaporator?

    • @projectgoodspeed
      @projectgoodspeed  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @johnsmithnonya46 Thanks!! 🤙 And the plastic box has a slot for the cabin air filter soo it should stay in place even if you dont want the evaporator.👍

    For removing the evaporator box i unplugged all the connectors and clips. If your doing this its best to unplug it so its not in your way. Also don’t forget the A/C drain hose is connected to the box i pulled on it and lost the rubber grommet that goes into the fire wall. HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

    for the A/C evaporator did you use the 1994 civic temperature evaporator sensor or did you use a Temperature Sensor from a CRV 2008-2011 since you swapped the whole evaporator

    • @projectgoodspeed
      @projectgoodspeed  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @itzyoboynoy I believe i used the temperature sensor from the EG because the sensor from the 96-01 Crv is a little too short

    I'm trying to install A/C in my 1992 hatch. It came from the factory without A/C. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out which A/C harness to buy that's in the engine bay that's connects to the relays, fan motor etc... I would love to see that in a video

    • @projectgoodspeed
      @projectgoodspeed  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @dennistavares4494 Im pretty sure this is another one of those a car specific parts that can only be found in 92-95 Civic models. I believe its called “ AC front support harness” or “ac front compressor/condenser subharness” something like that… theyre like $50 at junkyards, probably ~$80 on ebay. Try Rockauto.com they might have it cheaper👍

    Can you please see if we can do it for the ef they don’t sell ac tuck ki.t. You think it’s possible to put 92-2000 evaporator in a 88-91 civic? Just for ac tucked kit? Please be the first to find out

    • @projectgoodspeed
      @projectgoodspeed  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @S_up Im not too sure about that…i just looked at the pictures for an ‘89 civic evaporator and its much smaller than the 92-00 civics soo i dont think youll have the room for a bigger evaporator..also i dont know how its mounted or if its the same way as the 92-00 civics either but if you have space under the dash you might be able to swap the evap & the blower but from the looks of it the evaporator itself from a 92-00 civic wont fit

    • @S_up
      @S_up 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Looking at the blower looks the same mounting points look the same every thing you have going on looks like it will mount in. Only reason is I want ac tuck kit and they don’t make it for the ef imma change the compressor imma do a swap.

      @projectgoodspeed  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @S_up Gotcha!! Yeah Tuck kits can be tricky especially for something like that where it isnt made for that model. I wasnt sure if it would fit on mine but after searching some forums and saw it was possible, i headed to the junkyard to see if it was ACTUALLY true. Id recommend doing that

    • @projectgoodspeed
      @projectgoodspeed  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @LawMasterTimmy You know i cant quite remember exactly how many there are but if remember correctly its something like 4-5 bolts. As for the part numbers for The housings i tried i dont know since they weee junkyard parts, sorry…. i think i showed a quick clip of me pulling two from different models and there was a number on there. they both fit but it seemed they were designed for specifically shaped evaporators… just try to match yours with one of those in the clip and see if you need a square evaporator or a rounder one..

    Hey is it possible to install A/C in a Non A/C civic. i have a 1993 civic Si, it didnt come stock with A/C?

    • @projectgoodspeed
      @projectgoodspeed  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @NightmareNarratives333 Yeah soo as i understand it the A/C system was simple enough to install in any of these models, whether it came like that from factory or not. Just keep in mind since yours is a ‘93 youll be limited to using parts from a 92-93 model civic because of the different refrigerant used. (Not a good idea to mix refrigerant) Although if you never had AC you could just do a complete R134a swap with 94+ civic parts..Mines a 95 so i used 94-95 civic stuff…

      @danielhiemstra3834 If you have ek lines AND they fit inside the eg engine bay.
