- Hi, this video shows what a XBox One X looks like on a CRT TV. It is playable but only just! There appears to be no difference between the displays on the CRT TV when using the Xbox One or Xbox One X, probably because the Xbox One is already outputting a higher resolution than the TV can handle. The video is just for fun and I do have a 4K TV to use the full potential of the Xbox One X.

Late to the party but I've been collecting systems for years and just bought 3 crts for all of them and I love it. Old systems don't feel right on modern tvs.

Are you saying that an OLED has more blur than a CRT? I currently have a philips 32pw9551 and I was looking to buy a full hd but I have my doubts if I will find better tv that is in terms of softness and colors
*+Street spirit* OLED is fine enough, honestly. An HD CRT is hard to come by. But, they are still the best television ever made if you are willing to put up with lugging it around. They also have good downscaling and even modern games very nice on it.
Only downside is most modern games lacking a brightness setting and lots of games are gritty and dark, so it becomes a toll on both CRT and OLED to account for certain brightness at times. CRT suffers just a bit more with its richer color.
I think I will spend € 1200 on an Oled full HD and my philips 9551 hd will continue to have better contrasts and image fluided in resolutions up to 1080p. Frankly both led and oled at the moment are far from offering live image as Crt

Technically you could have a competitive advantage in faster paced games because the graphical input lag would be near instant, even compared to cutting-edge 1ms displays.

$1? CRTs cost, like, $20-$50. They're popular among retro gamers because old consoles look bad on newer TVs. And because this is a European TV with SCART, it makes it all the better.

that HDMI/SCART adapter is a very cheap one. i can see it just sends composite video via the SCART cable, and not the superior sRGB standard that SCART is capably of.
The icons at the start of the video do look like the signal is composite instead of RGB, (straight vertical lines turning into zigzaggy mess). I have had a problem with cheap Chinese Scart-HDMI junk not supporting RGB before, although the device was a Scart->HDMI converter and not the other way around. But then again you can barely see anything, with the camera calibrated for the lighting in the room, and not the TV.
True, real SCART RGB actually looks quite sharp on CRT's.

Must be the first youtuber to do this, good test. I bet a fighting game on it would look like a arcade cabinet with those scan lines. My crt TV I use for retro consoles and it's dark on rgb but looks OK on s-video, strange. I have resprayed the outer casing, I did strip it down to spray paint it and looks cool in gloss blue.

You only see the scan lines on video after recording on a camera. You won't see them live.

In a nutshell it's the guy still having fun while the gaming world is in disarray about an awaited patch, he'll play right through glitches and 24fps like it's 60locked usually without complaint....and still argue that it was the greatest game he ever played. Made possible because he was focused on fun instead of PC standards.
The ones that usually become collectors, you know....dudes like Bithead1000 with his passionate Pc Engine vids, MetalJesusRocks, HappyConsoleGamer...those guys and thousands like them that you'll usually find under "Collection" with the preceded popular system names of Nes, Sega Master System, TG-16, Genesis, Snes, Neo Geo, N64 etc etc and all the way down through Arcades, Mini TableTops and all other classic systems that released before those, in between those and even after them.

I was playing on a CRT TV until 2012. Couldn't read anything in Skyrim. Now I've a 43" 4K TV. Humble beginnings.
I used to watch Sky Cinema HD (which is 1080i) on a Wega CRT widescreen for many years in my house. Movies looked great when supersampled.

I'm sort of there with you, while I do play my 8th gen consoles on my HD tv...I still use mt CRT TV pretty regularly with 360 and a few others....
Get a retro console like a gamecube or neo geo aes - it will look superb!
Just buy a component cable, if you didn't , and the image will get much more better on your CRT TV

A 1080p CRT is the best way to play games and watch anything. Very sad they don't exist anymore.

Man I remember my old "giant" 40" CRT TV slowly dying back in 06, had to whack it really hard so the picture came back on. That thing had introduced me to the digital world of 480p, I never saw something so clear in my life haha, it took me till 08 to realise how to use HD settings on our next T.V and Xbox (and to even get one).
Sadly we still use the HDTV from 07, it's only 720p and 1080i. Might consider getting a 4K HDR for Black Friday and experience another "wow" moment for these eyes.

Wow 480i on a console that can run Forza at 2160p... what a crime. Supersampling to literally no pixels makes no sense, but a neat retro experience.
Crts have unmatchable colours, hopefully they will make a 4k throwback crt oneday

I put no effort in my videos I thought it would explode
CRTs implode. The only thing that can cause that to happen is if you break the weak part of the tube which is the neck, the front of the screen is pretty thick leaded glass, though you could break it with a hammer which I would not advise doing unless you threw it from a distance. Even then, there is a risk of the tube implosion hurling shards of glass at your face at high speeds.
Does the method work with an PS4? The scart To hdmi converter?

I played my Xbox 360 on an RCA TV from 1999, I used an S Video cable for enhanced video. I still couldn't read the fine print on Dead rising, so glad I switched to HD!

Hi. So in his setup for beginners video he had all his previous games in the ready to install tab. I want to switch from Xbox one to the x. So if I install all my previously owned games on my Xbox one x will it have my data from before or will it be like restarting the game since it is a whole new console. Also if it doesn’t have my data do I just use network transfer to get my data.
Normally the game saves will be saved on the cloud so when you re-download the game onto your Xbox One X you will pick up from where you left off in the game.

the ps4 you can choose the video output it goes down to 480p so i wonder if that helps with crts and the like.

This is the resolution consoles are intended to be played on, I see no fault here.
You can also get a DTV converter box to watch normal live TV on that TV after analog switched off since more than 6 years!

Many will disagree but the CRT TV is still the best option for video gaming since it provides much faster screen refreshment than any kind of flat panel. Not to mention the viewing angles and overall colour range of the screen. But the bad news is: that Xbox One thing does not even have the proper video output for CRT and those converters for sure will add significant delay plus the games are not built for the CRT resolution / specifications of course. Solution: get the original Xbox / PS2 / Gamecube and enjoy the true video games before this whole business collapsed into always online updating HDMI upscaling laggy mess.

Seems like, your HDMI to Scart converter is running in Composite mode thats why its blurry and you have rainbow on text outline. Try second port, maybe its not SCART RGB compatible, or this converter is outputing Composite video only.
Andrzej...you are correct mate. It is running like a composite input. My crt was the same picture was ok on my sony 32in crt kv-32s20 i converted it to rgb on the tv motherboard. Its a very nice picture and the text is very clean and crisp no more rainbowing around text. Raspberry pi also with rgb output. Just how they did back in atari arcade games.

i have a friend who unironically uses his ps4 pro on a crt tv, he used to have a lcd before but he sold it to buy a "bigger" crt tv. i tried to explain him how stupid it was what he did but he claimed not to see any difference between his previous 1080p lcd tv and the bigger crt tv, and yet calls himself a "gamer". bf1 literally looks like ps1 medal of honour
