Not everyone wants new furniture. We all know Julie has to be thrifty. Old manors are often less luxurious than how many middle class folk live. Sort of Shabby sheek, lol. But that is exactly what I love too. I love Julie's wee Italian house, as well as Mapperton. ❤️ 💙 💜
Please consider a potted citrus tree for the terrace. Either lemon and or blood orange trees. The scent of the blooms will be phenomenal and the fruits delicious.
This is such a warm, cozy guest room. The new light fixture, bedskirts, and wall pegs will certainly add to the ambience. I absolutely love the newly acquired painting ... I could easily get lost in it!
OK, I admit I didn't get these decorations until I see them close to finished, and they really look super nice. She had much more of a vision of the completed project. I love the new throw pillows on the last bedroom with the flowers and the antiqued end tables.
Ahahahaha my dad would've called that a "seniors moment". You ski very gracefully and elegantly. OMG that package looks very cumbersome. Yes, lovely art work. Very inviting and restful rooms; I see the beauty in the half wall colour detail now.
Loving this renovation project! Those headboards are stunning but....they need to be raised and mounted to the wall. One, because they are gorgeous, two because the ceiling is so high, but also, and importantly, because the room is not balanced as there is too much going on at lower half of the room, and not enough above. Makes the furniture look tiny. The paint line in the middle of the room along with the framed pieces splits the room in an unbalanced conundrum. But overall, beaut-i-ful as you would say! You do you!!!
Your house is coming together very well. I like the soothing color palette but I’m so glad you decided not to cover the headboards. You must think more about keeping some rustic Italian elements in your furniture choices to blend the old with the new and they were so beautiful when they were cleaned up. Glad to see you getting on the slopes and having fun. A good life balance is so important. You don’t want to burn out.
It is so much fun watching you decorate your home in Italy. I imagine living in a generational home in England can be a bit restricting. It has a much more formal classical design that is cost prohibitive considering all of the expenses of keeping up on the repairs to such a large formally decorated home. Watching the sheer joy you find in expressing yourself in this little home in Italy is just beautiful.
Just love this little Italian house! The color scheme is perfect and the bedroom *guest* (looks very comfortable and idea of lavender pillow is absolutely a must have if possible, for all. as it can help you "sleep" So very Perfect! I would need to look it ll over and just take it in, because there is much in this room to ant to really pay attention to and being small, just makes it so quaint, I think it is must nicer!? Being a smaller house will be so much easier to take care of and it is expensive with heat in Winter etc. Your guests will feel like a true Italian in this room! Thank you for this tour and shopping at the antique store. I love antiques. The painting your friend did, was very nice for this house, and yes, the colors did blend well..
Julie, your taste is impeccable. You put so much boundless energy into every aspect of the furnishings to make your Italian home cozy, warm and inviting. Thank you so much for taking us on your journey. ❤️
Hi Julie, I am from the West Country in the U.K. and have just bought a mill house in Comano near fivizzano. We go to the festas there most summers. Where is the flea market you visit here please? Is it in Aulla or Sarzana? Would love to know- thank you! Love your Italian videos- you really capture the charm of the region x
I love what you have done with the little house in Italy. The rooms are cozy, inviting, and enveloping. But please remember that the best homes are always organic and growing and changing. I hate rooms that look like the entire room has been so studied and "decorated" and designed that if you move a book 4 inches on top of the coffee table the entire room is "off". Your Mapperton Home is beautiful and so is your little home in Italy! Thank you for sharing it with us!
I lived in Wisconsin and Iowa for many years. I know that coming from Illinois you know exactly what snow chains are! I am going to start saying it is probably the altitude when I forget things too. I love that! The footage of you all skiing in the mountains, looked fabulous! Wonderful video! Love from Vermont
So beautiful Julie! I love the guest bedroom! Yes, the pegs will be nice to hang jackets and clothes on and the table will give some storage, too! A very cozy room!
Coming here to see Julie in Italy and her decorate this home lifts my spirits. Always a pleasure to see you in this home as a treat in between lovely Mapperton. Gorgeous design as always Julie and crew!
I love it! It’s such a blend of British and American styling with a good dash of Italian flourish. It’s wonderful also to see how much you’re enjoying yourself with this project. The painting y your friend is Gorgeous! I agree that the kitchen will be a good place for it as everyone will see it right off and that’s likely to be the main gathering place, so everyone will enjoy it. ❤
Julie, they call those moments "senior" moments. I have a lot of them but it doesn't worry me for noticed that a lot of other folks do so it can't be early onslaught of Alzeimher!! As much as I enjoy your Mapperton videos and the American Viscountess where you take us to some amazing homes or castles or manors, I have a soft spot for Italy. Enjoy your skiing.
Just love how the bedrooms have turned out. Agree with other commentors that it would be good if the picture levels were at the same height but will be interesting to see when the peg rails go up. Love that you left the bed heads as they are and I wonder if you need the bed skirts as the bed linen looks lovely as it is. So enjoying seeing the renovations take place. I can't wait to see what you do with the sitting room.
What a beautiful mix of colours, fabrics, framed prints and old Italian furniture! I think the guest bedroom is simply perfect! I enjoy seeing where you buy your frames and furniture from and it’s especially nice to use small, local businesses! The art work is absolutely stunning and the colours reflect the atmosphere around your Italian house. Can’t wait for the next instalment! Oh and I’m glad it wasn’t all ‘work’ and no play and you were able to take some time out skiing ⛷️ 😊🍹🙅♀️
I love the bedside tables! So unified with the rest of the style of the room and the theme of your house- the style and inspiration provided by your town and love of authenticity!❣️!😘
What I find so charming about this whole endeavor is your viewers are helping decorate your house❗️ I love that your viewers told you not to upholster the bed headboards but to leave them as is. And you did that. This is the sweetest TH-cam experience. Thank you.
Im madly catching up with your videos starting with the little Italian house what a joy ! Love love love the bedrooms dont know which is my fav ! Colours just perfect - the picture from Alice stunning what a talented lady ❤ As a vintage dealer i share your love of vintage and i too have one daughter and three sons - thanks for sharing ❤
Fabulous maps, appropriate little desk and side piece, while cheese and gelato, what a combo ... lol. Plus that's quite the picture for the wall, and I love the colors of the bed spreadings, while the framed maps really do help make the atmosphere seem worldly. Congrats!😎👍
That painting by Alice Watt is fabulous! It will look amazing wherever you hang it! Absolutely gorgeous! 😍🥰😍Also, I’m loving the framed maps. If I were putting them up in your guest room, which I’m clearly not, I would hang them all at the same height (a few inches above the paint line) as the one above the blue desk! A little lower positioning will make the room feel cozier, the maps easier to study and make the ceilings feel higher... a win/win/win in my eyes. However, as in all things, to each their own.
@@AmericanViscountess Actually I was referring to the maps hung above the beds could come down to match the distance of the map above the blue desk. Another idea would be to group the maps on the bed wall instead of hanging the maps super high on the peg rail walls. If things are hanging on the pegs, that will be a lot of visual impact. There are so many possibilities, no right or wrong, and as long as you are pleased with the results, that’s all that matters!
Wow Just Wow Julie congratulations on the guest bedroom! It looks stunning everything from beds, linen, beautifully framed prints and the desk! Italy is wonderful for finding great treasures in flea markets and you have the eye for picking out the best and turning rooms into elegant spaces x
Looks gorgeous Julie and such a beautiful inviting guest bedroom!🤗 (just an observation, you may want to switch the bedside tables around because of the way the little cupboard doors open 😚ie easier to sit on the bed and open the little cupboard door away from the bed)xx
What a lovely video! The guest room is simple, neat and inviting. I'm so glad that you had a chance to go for a ski...whoosh,whoosh! Can't wait to see the sitting room and terrace transformations. I espied a wooden and wrought iron bench at the flea market..that might make an additional no fuss seating area on the terrace..add some plants et voila! Love the main bedroom, and Alice Watt's art...ethereal. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
I just found your channel and became an instant fan of your style, love for Italian culture and language. I am planning to purchase a home wherever my heart cannot resist in Italy or France. I currently live in Mexico and speak the language fluently. You have no idea how much you are inspiring me to move, decorate, and live the life in Italy!
Everything looks lovely. I wondered about the height each map was hung (I would have done it at exactly same height from floor eg mid eye level. But, colours and coordination overcomes that. It is really inspiring to see what you have done so far. Congratulations. Just lovely.
Julie I love that you have this project that is just yours. I imagine when you married Luke and took on his family etstates it would have been more difficult to do any nesting. Changing rooms around and all. I might be wrong but this is sweet that you have "your" little house to nest in and be creative with.
I’m guessing my comment is very provincial and not tuned in to European sensibilities but, what is splitting the paint color on the walls into two colors all about ? It was kind of a institutional look in the states about 60 years ago! As a retired former designer, it took years to rid the look ! I love most everything you do everywhere, but this .
I really love how you're transforming your little Italian house. I would like to make some observations and a small critique of your picture hanging choices. First, the pictures and frames are beautiful and so right for the guest room. I also like where you hung the 2 pictures above the beds. But, to the right of the beds on the wall with the door to the hallway, you've hung those 2 pictures way too high. If you look at the room as a whole, those 2 pics on the right don't relate to the pics over the beds because of the positions too high on the wall. They should be at the same height at the ones over the beds to be cohesive as a whole. Also, and this is nitpicking I admit, but the picture over the blue desk, while it seems to be centered on the wall, in my opinion it should be centered over the desk to relate more closely to the desk. I like that you hung this one lower to relate better to the desk, if only it was centered over the desk it would be perfect. And lastly I love your bedside tables but they should be swapped on opposite sides of the beds to make the doors open to the beds instead of opening away from the beds which would make them more easily accessible to someone in/on the beds. Right now the doors open towards the walls and away from the beds, which is not convenient. I'm sure this was just an oversight due to you having to do so much yourself and being so busy. I hope you take this as constructive notes from someone who has the benefit of looking at it with new eyes and from a distance, rather than up so close as you are. You have so many big things on your plate and I am in awe at how much you accomplish, including speaking in Italian! Bravo!
I agree, the two pictures by the door are hung way too high. It should be a cohesive line with the others. Good observation regarding the night stands. I would be more practical to swap them out.
Beautiful room, but I totally agree about the picture height. Should be at eye level, and all the same height. The other primary bedroom pictures look perfect.
The 2 pictures are hung higher b/c of the peg rail that will be installed. Once that is in - you will see it all works. The picture above the desk is centered b/w the edge of the wall and the curtain however, it's temporary. There is a black / gilt mirror arriving soon that will be centered over the desk instead. Still a few more bits to do. xx
Very positive and wonderful energy in your Italian house ✨✨ well done and very inspiring. Have you thought of painting the radiator the same colour as the wall so it disappears 🙃 with metal paint of course ☺️
Hi Julie, A friend asked me to try out new lunch place and they decided to call it Earl's Deli which of course is a sandwich shop. Especially named for your ancestor!
It's absolutely beautiful! Such lovely choices, and brought together so well. Many congratulations! If you ever feel like conducting a small experiment, perhaps the most graphic map (the one over the blue desk we saw you choose!) might be even more effective if it were centered over the desk itself. That is, moved a smidgen to the left. It's a stunner!

Very positive and wonderful energy in your Italian house ✨✨ well done and very inspiring. Have you thought of painting the radiator the same colour as the wall so it disappears 🙃 with metal paint of course ☺️
Quest room looking very inviting and lovely
Pendleton Camp blanket would look good too.
Hi Julie, A friend asked me to try out new lunch place and they decided to call it Earl's Deli which of course is a sandwich shop. Especially named for your ancestor!
If I was staying there, I would use the. Desk as a vanity and would appreciate a stand mirror on it.
Beautiful room.
Mirror is coming :-)
hi Julie, thanx for sharing your beautiful guest room👌 buttt... the room needs a nice mirror to the wall up behind the chair💗👍🏻
Still a few more bits to do. xx
This is way off topic, Julie, but I love your blue cap in the thumbnail. Where did you get it? The oversized newsboy
What an adventure your guest bedroom is beautiful quite lovely.
