I’m unsure what the comments section is saying about your being unhappy. They’re wrong. You’re one of the most personable TH-camrs I watch.
I find his normal self quite relatable and his sarcasm on about the same level as mine. With that being said, a lot of people seem to not understand or relate to my sarcasm...but oh well..maybe they need a sammich and relax.
@@richardbaumgart2454ń Dude f gt French
What are you talking about bruh? English!!
@@sweetassugar2076 it's plain english lol
Just being idiots.
I'm almost convinced Duff thinks he's talking to him instead of recording videos and I'm actually okay with that.
Wish they'd bring sammiches back!
I have never been so excited for Mondays in my life lol keep up the great vids Mortske
You know the season is changing when Lawnmower man has his long handle PJ,s on, good video on what a hassle rust repair can be to get completed. Now you know why it is hard to find someone who is willing to do it correctly, and what it looks like to follow someone else's cover up, nice work. Duff never looks to excited when it's time to start chopping up body panels, neither do I.
Just goes to show ya that no matter how good they look on the outside, they can be hiding a lot of bad surprises underneath! I do love me some Duff Dog... you can't fault a guy who loves his dog! Great video, Mortske! Give Duff some belly rubs from me!
1 hour 24 minutes of entertainment to watch when I get home. Hey that's shiny.
Isn't that neat!
Lot better than the crap that's on woke TV now .
I do detailing in Fargo. Let me know if you need anything cleaned up, I would love to help bring some of these beauties back to life!
Skippin school yet again to watch another Mortske vid... worth it!
"Feel like I charge em too much but don't charge em enough." Anyone with a conscience who has done work like that, knows exactly what you mean.
Truck looks great, way to cut out the cancer and give it a second chance.
We are still calling them sammiches, (it needs its own t-shirt) and you probably did at least 200 hours (or more) on that truck. Hard work done well there. Duff is one happy camper.
Im with u on that shirt idea
Best part of Monday morning is Mortske on TH-cam!!
Thanks Mortske! It's like every squarebody needs those repair panels! I bet you enjoyed editing this one, reliving the nightmare!!
These years of most every car made, started rusting right off the assembly line. You go Mortske! Nice to see you do body work for a change.
That's why a have a giant hot dip galvanizing bath in my shop, shell/body goes in and will last for decades!
You’re a way better sheet metal guy than I thought. Too modest. Great video and you did better sheet metal than a lot of body shops. Tx Mortske
Glad you set the bar low John!
And you did it in a hour and a half. Your great 👍
whew! Nothing like some surprise rust hiding from ya! Love the channel!
I actually like these types of videos, not over produced. Just a guy and his best friend, having sammiches and working on cars.
MAKING MONDAY MORNINGS MORE TOLERABLE ..... thanx Man! (and Dog) hello from minot!
Another great video. If ya ever need a break from working so hard, how about giving a detailed tour
of all your vehicles across the road from your shop. Thanks to you and Duff, another good start of the week.
Noted!
I second that motion 👍
I like that your a real person and not a paid actor thats why i watch this channel never change ol mortske 👌🏻
Mortske in Science class--that must have been a hoot! Surprised you teacher is still talking to you! :) He picked the right guy to fix it though! Posting Me Tube content on Monday morning--BRILLIANT!
He was a pretty stern teacher!
Considering what a new truck costs ( holy moly! ) these repairs are a drop in the bucket! And these trucks are pretty easy to repair mechanically. Love the style, too.
You got that right!
A nice change to broken flat head valves! Really enjoyed this one! Like to see some bodywork done on your square body. A definite 👍 from me.
Thanks Richard!
"I´m not a sheetmetal-guy" .. mind blown. Good Work!
I ain't!
Love love love the dogs interaction
Really nice work Mortske, your attention to detail is amazing, this video gives me a good direction for my old square body that needs at least all the same patch panels and more,Great video thank you
Get after it!
As Puddin says, sitting on yer butt won't finish your projects. Lol
@@trickyricky12147 lotta truth in that!
Great job Mortske, the average person doesn't know what is involved in doing a repair like this. It would be nice to see the truck
after all work has been completed. Take care and keep the great videos coming.
I was starting to freak out until I saw your video, it cant be a Monday without Mortske!
You just keep being yourself. That is why I watch this channel. Keep up the great content.
My baby brother still has my Dad's last truck 78 GMC 1500 Sierra Classic Auto Power Steering Brakes A/C and Tilt no Cruise 4 Bolt Main 350 with 1 rebuild.
Sweet I have another truck besides the one on my profile. I have a original 77GMC shortbed Sierra classic 350/350 factory 4 barrel/AC/power steering/Power brakes/clock/Etc. Truck still runs and drives and is completely original down to the non rebuilt quadrajet and fuel pump. Spent 37 years on a farm it’s in great shape though rust wise.
Truck is original paint. It has some patina. The color is mariner blue. It’s a 77 and has the 1 year only gold trim on it. I bought it from the family of the man who bought it new. Have the original keys and title to it. Found paper checks under the seat from 1982
I love that Duff dawg! Great copilot!!!!!!
Mortske, Duff, and Monday sammiches hell yea…..
I wasn't expecting this video would be in your old shop. But it was still educational. Nice job.
Wanted to say that, even though this one was a real slog, its so great getting content from you, and i'm really happy to just watch your videos and to get some valuable tips as well as be along for the ride! I learned a lot of what it takes to do body work, and I really really appreciate your content. Thanks so much Mortske!
Always appreciated Nuke!
The Silver Fox will be happy with this.
Sure hope so!
I like your attitude just the way it is. Those people telling you to change have the problem
45:53 😂😂 omg your killing me whacking it in the tool shed ha ha ha
I spent years as a body man, starting off in a rustoration shop and ended up in a collision shop. I know exactly what you’re saying about charging the customer, it’s a razors edge of feeling like not charging enough but charging too much. Also, you’re absolutely right, paint guys are “different” especially the ones who started off spraying lacquer. Lol
Yes it's Monday hi duff
By far the best square body rust repair out there for inner outer rockers and floor supports very well done and informative you didn’t jump around like most the other people do
Much appreciated!
And oh yeah… I like that “Old Style” sammich too. Had an older gentleman that used to drive north for hours from southern wva to go load up just every now and then because it wasn’t available around here. That’s real dedication and love for the sammich. Had my own delivery set up for years from him too. Guys passed on now and I sure do miss him. Think about him every time I see that old style can bro.
That’s awesome!
I usually over charge when I really hate a job. I will give a ridiculous quote to scare them off. If they say yes then it really makes the job worth doing. Don't listen to the trolls. Keep being you that's the content we all like and subscribed for.
Yes!!!
Sir Mortskie, you are a man of many talents. Good job.
Thank you much!
A year ago I pulled a 1947 chevy 5 window out of the weeds on a local ranch. I found your episode featuring a similar vintage yellow grain truck while researching how to repair the truck I bought. I have been watching your channel since.
You only had a couple vehicles in your lot across the street at the time. I enjoy watching your lot grow in each episode. Your collection is pretty cool and through brief glimpses of it in the back ground I can watch cars come and go.
I would like to see a yard crawl through your lot.
Sweet truck. My first truck was a 77 Scottsdale, love that body style.
Nice work looked great to me. That truck is rougher then I thought! My friend is doing a 74 Shortbed we pulled out of the woods but needs a whole body replacement he found a whole cab no rust very clean and original
Nice you’re looking after your old teachers. & paying it forward - one of the better metal working / rust repair videos I’ve seen. Sneaky talents. 👏👏👏
Thanks 👍
You're real. Yup, that's why I like ya Mortske!
Man this was great, you should do a lot more bodywork videos! The wrenching vids were getting a bit old, this one came out just in time to save the shop! Can't wait to see the next Mortske rust repair video, this was the best ever!
You asked for it!
I'll admit, Mortske, I actually learned some tricks watching this...
Good video!
How about a serious "short cut" bodywork vid. Not showcar, but durable repair ending with a primer finish.

Cool! Watch out Fitzee's Fabrication there's a new sheet metal rust repair guy on the block! :)
@@cobannie Glad to hear it!
Been waiting to watch you do more metal fab thanks Mortske keep it up 👍
Much appreciated George!
I do love your regular content, but I have to admit. I had fun watching your change of pace video here. Your talents go far beyond breaking valves with hammers and catching yourself on fire!
Much appreciated!
Oh dang, Old Style. Brings back teenage memories. I loved it when Duff sneezed at the cab corner. He knows what's up.
Good times! He's no dummy!
Yea! 84 minutes of fun!
My uncle was a body man and did amazing work. He was also expert at mixing paint to match the current shade on the vehicle. He taught me a lot but not that one. I do body work for myself but it is a lot of work. Definitely nicer to have someone else do it.
Right on
That thar mortske fella has
A way with tin. Good job
Feller.. thats a win👍
Thanks Joe!
This has been your best video to date by far!
Thanks Bill
Definitely a 12 sammich job! So different seeing you doing body work, great job!
You're one of my favorite Flint Knapping/artifact hunting channel on TH-cam. You should look at the 2 arrowhead videos I've uploaded. I won some from Pine Belt Relics when they had a 3k subscriber give away..😎
@@RedEyedPatriot Thanks ! I'll be sure to check out your videos!
@@Paleoman52 awesome. Thank you.
GM should hire the folks that invented the rona. They know how to build something that lasts and lasts
Look no further than the CCP.
No instead they hire the guys that made the antidote
Don't understand everything is already made in China. Rona only thing they made that last
@@thomaskokoska9252 Yeah but the antidote is only effective for 6 months. Rona will be around well passed the 100th booster.
They had it back when this was built anything made today lasts as long as the tail lights are in view of the dealership
Thumbnail of the truck looked really clean wasn't expecting it to have that much rust
ALWAYS be scared of the shiny Squarebody's, the ones with the old, dull paint are the ones that usually don't hide much except maybe a smidge of bondo from a whiskey dent back when Reagan was still in office.
@@DeadReckon lol true
"paint guys and electrical engineers"....you got that right LOL
Odd ducks!
This will be a good one. I do bodywork and paint for a living
I always respect good body guys. I worked in 3-4 body shops in the last 20 years plus construction and auto repair I never had a knack for body repair Lol every shop did things so different it made me nuts I always felt like I was starting over fresh
@@frankm8533 i do full time bodywork on 18 wheelers. Was a full time painter on regular trucks and cars. Just paint on the side now. The big time wrecks and roll oves on the big trucks take up most of my time now
@@thomaskerschner3010 Sounds pretty cool. I may be taking a temporary job at big truck repair shop as a helper/apprentice. Friend of mine is trying to open his own body shop finally so if that happens ill just work there probably forever hes been in the body shops since we were in high school so 96 97
Thanks for sharing! I enjoyed watching and have much respect for the hard work you put in on this and all your/customer projects. Turned out great. 🍻
Much appreciated Brian!
Happy mortske makes me laugh 😂. Your a real boy...
Good thing lots of folks redo square bodies. Lots of manufacturers make repro parts. If one doesn't deliver another might!
HOT DAM its time for another good one!🤪
This man needs more subs. For sh!ts sake his videos are over an hour long and pure entertainment. Let's all share the hell out of this video. Everything helps and this guy deserves it! Love the channel ❤ 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🤘
Much appreciated Sean!
Sheet metal work has always fascinated me. Thank you for making this episode.
OUr pleasure Eric!
I've watched about 10 episodes in 3 or 4 days and liked them all, but this one's my favorite. 👍
Nice!
Looks damn close to the truck i rode home from the dealership in, my dad bought one new but it was in '83...the thing had a junk trans and severe rear main oil leak from the engine fresh off the dealer lot...not to mention severe engine hesitation. My parents had to call at that time Senator Dale Kildee (in Michigan, my mom knew him) to get the trans. fixed. My mom talked to him directly and he called the dealership and more or less threatened them.....my dad showed up at the dealership after work and they asked him what he thought he was doing calling Kildee on them...my dad didn't even know my mom had called him. They fixed it immediately after fighting with them for a couple months to fix the damn thing, but they never did fix the motor running like shit, i think it was normal (POS 305). It was the blue same as this truck, with the same hub caps. That blue was infamous for flaking off just like it did on my dad's after a few years. GM really had their head up their ass back then. I sold it in 2002 for $500,..it was actually in better shape than this one, at least as far as the floor pans go.
In other words another typical GM customer story. They all have their horror stories but GM and its indifference/Apathy/arrogance was legendary
@@roguedalek900 very true
I don’t understand how they still get repeat business
According to Scotty Kilmer they made them better back then than they do now. That's a scary thought! I quit buying GM after owning a couple of lemons.
@@JamesCouch777 my dad bought 4 new GM trucks...'83, '85, '93 suburban square body, and a 2001...the only one that wasn't really a lemon was the 2001...oh yeah he bought a '78 buick new that ran like shit from day also...I've actually had fairly decent luck with gm's but haven't bought one since my new 2000 Firebird,...aside from a used Cad...my dad retired from GM but they bankrupted Flint and did that bankruptcy scam back in '08..well i think it was a scam...i wouldn't buy one now unless maybe an old 50's or 60's Chevy
Great looking truck, until you peal the onion!
exactly! lotta layers and crying involved!
Sunday I bought a lifted 2003 Ford F250 7.3 diesel 4X4 Extended Cab (4 dr.) I was so excited to find a nice 7.3 and I knew the owner and he never abused it.
The owner was a previous neighbor for many years and has owned the truck for 12 years.
Last night I found a tiny rust hole ( all the way through) on the cab roof that I overlooked and that he didn't mention. I don't think he knew it was there. He kept the maintenance and the interior nice and just paid to have the Lariat interior reupholstered because his plans were to keep it. He then decided he wanted a new truck that had a smoother ride.
That's the only rust on the truck. I would've still bought It, it's in great shape and everything works as it should.
Thanks for the video, I feel so much better.
Hard to find clean ones!

Your fine to me.
Most people don't do this work and have no idea how hard it is.
The Duff is the best.

huffin too much paint!
Thanks for the Mortske Monday. Thank Chin as well. I think you finished this awhile back? Take it easy🐾
Will do! Yeah, just wrapped it. Took about 8 months on and off.
Nice truck! My first truck when I turned 16 was a 73 c10 long bed red with a white top , in-line 6 with a three on the tree!!! I drove the wheels off that truck all through High School then for a few more years… back in the 80s
We did watch the while thing! Time to kick it out the shop! You did do an awesome job sheet metalling!
Thanks!
you know whats funny the people that say they hate body work they seem to be the best at it ??? DAMN MORTSKE YOU GOT A FUTURE IN AUTOBODY

I like the change to body work even though it sucks todo. Great job and video.
Thanks!
I was a parts manager at a body shop you’re right the paint guys are always happy and nobody wants to do anything other than collision work
Yup, that's where the money is at.
"Liquid Sammich" !!! I don't know what that client was expecting?! Fix some rust spots like in a week? I think the last guy he took it to didn't tell him the truth how bad it was, the previous "expert" did a really xxxty job! You; Mortske did ALL of the repairs to the rusted out sections the RIGHT way. You have a lot of integrity to face the PIA challenges of structural rust repairs. I'd rather wait a few months for something done right then wait a week for a shit-show attempt like the last dummy. You did a great job showing all of us how and why it should be done this way or that way. Sarcasm and cynical remarks are funny!!!
Much appreciated for the kind words Clifford!

You really did a great job on that older blue truck. By watching you do this I think I'm ready to tackle my rocker panels on my truck. They kinda look hard to do but now I know what all has to be done. Thank you for showing us (me) how to do it. And like you said you're only human so you can have bad days and be normal. Your montage guitar music has gotten remarkably better. Hence my remark.

Not everyone is excited to do body work lol
I got this same job to do in the spring on a ‘67 C10 so this was a good refresher on how to fit all these panels and in the right sequence.
Good luck!
