Beautiful song about freedom and dignity in a corrupted land. It's covering some of Ferid Extranjero's words in "warqa stylo" another worth listening to song. Greetings from Germany
I tried to translate the lyrics from Tunisian to English, this is not an official translation, meaning can slightly change. We start talking from the bottom (people) to the top (governors). [If you] Close your ears, don't listen, ignore.. i'll use a megaphone. Living in life, like a statue, that doesn't sell anything in the market. Open that mouth, speak.. freedom.. your tongue free. Your tongue is FREE ! This is my country, i speak within it, i ain't crazy. This is my country, i speak within it, i ain't crazy! Where is freedom when you see the prisons (torture). The police is drowning in money, as they sell the law. Where is the press? Where? Where are the people? Where? Where is the television? Where are the intellectuals? Where are the people? Where are you, O scholar! In every shop you find the picture of the boss (president/king). Paper.. Pen, Against the wind.. Against the wind.. Paper.. Pen, Against the wind.. Against the wind! Don't hide, what you think is right, what you think is right. Lot of pits, be careful to fall down. Live tough, stay strong, STRONG! stand on your dignity! Speak, talk, discuss, tell, LIBERTA! LIBERTA!
Thank you so much for the translation. I'm a musician myself and her music is amazing, voice is incredible, so powerful, so moving.... Hello from Russia
You have a very unique voice and "style" of singing , but i wish you focus more on the lyrics ; In my opinion, they're not well combined and studied, I have the impression that they generate almost no feeling towards "US" the "Tunisian" listeners, except that ,everything is Beautiful and Moving ; the instruments, the rhythm, the theme of the song is really touching especially among "US" at this moment ... Good work Emel !! You're our PRIDE
you should listen to the original song, Ferid Elextranjero's one, you'll se how those lyrics can be great ;) the original song is called "periodistas" or "war9a stylo" from Ferid Elextranjero, the tunisian rapper of the spanish group called "Delahoja". It was written and published in 2009
I wondered names of beatmakers. Does anyone know names of beatmakers? As beatmaker I wanted to say keyboard player and the other man. Reminds me of mr robot soundtracks. This is amazing. Sounds so good.

Better not to know the lyrics. Emel is good singer trying to deliver messages but has always made the worst word choices showing a lot of poetical issues that we Tunisians are sensitive to. You might as well notice that there are no rhymes in her songs, neither the strength(lyrically) to call it a slam also. To make it crystal clear, it's as if she was trying to sing a story from a book. But it's so beautiful to hear and we are proud to see that her songs can be appreciated around the world.

I love this music, but I have no idea what the lyrics mean. Is there anyone who can translate the lyrics?
i can translate but you won't understand , it's symbolistic with deep meanings , but it's generally about faith, hope and sorrow
