I appreciate your professional, unscripted, matter of fact, no nonsense delivery of your trade techniques. It takes a considerable amount of time to organize, produce, and narrate these videos. Thank you for sharing and demonstrating your best practice methods for efficiency, production, and profit. Do you often have to fabricate and/or install interior extension jambs for those Anderson Windows? I noticed only because the extension jambs (in some shots)were clear pine. Keep up the great work!
You've mentioned in past videos about the stream of sub trades that you work with. The window installers did a great job, the drywallers did a great job, you're doing a great job; I hope the builder gets a good deal on his painter, because the painter has so much less to do with you making everything so tight. All the quality/efficiency should make everyone make more money and make the house overall cheaper to build.
You are correct. My labor rates are based off of how long things actually take. I track time on all jobs and adjust rates accordingly. So if a bad drywall job is slowing me down it is getting added into my piece rate. If windows jambs are out, same thing, it gets factored into how long it takes me to install and therein raises the rate.

Gary Katz's process on the This is Carpentry channel is the best I've seen and I wouldn't be surprised if he used something similar. Literally cut my install times in half.
Perhaps because I'm dealing with stain grade, where putting a mark on a painted wall would not work so well, I find having a little piece of wood similar to the one that you have, but with a notch in it, works pretty well for setting up the pieces as I install them. But at least for painted projects, using a pencil certainly simplifies things to the point that you can do them while distracted, as you say. Well done. Edit. One serious suggestion I would make is getting a splitter so you don't have to switch your air hose between guns. I often use three different guns when doing trim, and they're all plugged in to a divider it has individual pressure controls at the divider. That way I'm never using a heavier nail than necessary. I'm not saying that you are. I'm just saying I think you will find not having to switch the hose will save time and hassle.
