There's a subtle similarity between Vulcan warp drive configuration and the D'deridex-class warp drive configuration which - if deliberate - was a fantastic design choice.

Unrelated thing - but how do you see build times in general for ships in the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th centuries? For all the economic mobilization of the Federation in the Dominion War, you don't really get an idea of how fast they can build ships.
So how long in each 'era' might you say building something like a destroyer/cruiser/etc take for the major powers?

Vulcan fleet certainly was totally adequate for power projection, protecting territory and expanding its influence throughout the whole of the 22 century. until formation of the federation. Though do have to wonder if Vulcan had gone all military dictatorship under vlaas in season four of enterprise if we would have seen a change in military ship design and strategy to reflect that.

The Vulcans developed warp drive before most Alpha Quadrant powers did, and had time to go exploring. They also passed on the benefits of their experience to Starfleet.T'Pol's instinctive aversion to get involved in the problems of others seen in the pilot episode of Enterprise is probably part of her military training, and found its way into the Federation Constitution as the Prime Directive.

Perhaps the "Vulkas" class ships we see later are a modernized version, considered a different class, with more capable equipment and something about the power output or the ID signal told T'Pol that the ship was of the older type? Or it could have been a type with a different mission profile that has since been retired while the more combat oriented version hasn't? UK in the 1950s built a bunch of Frigates on the same hull and they went out of service at different rates so that has been done in reality.

  • @braddl9442

It might have been Retired from say front line service. But if it was an older ship, they most likely had a mothball fleet like most IRL nations have with their navies that they can reactivate. Uk has about 75 ships that are good enough to reactivate and modernize if they need them. The USA has a few hundred ships scattered about the country that are kept in reactivation conditions.

From STO and other sources, I'd made the D'Vahl as a Escort (since the D'kyr has two as support ships), and they pegged the Vahklas as a Transport. Maybe its like the Miranda, an LC or maybe BC, when it was first built, but a Frigate at best a century later. (Mirandas, like Oberths might even make it into civilian use, without the rollbar or other heavy combat options)
I note the Tal'kyr as a Scout. So all that's missing is a Destroyer class. But looking at the Tal'kyr and D'Vahl inscale, perhaps the D'vahl should be a Scout/Corvette/Escort and the Tal'kyr the Escort/Destroyer.

I would class the 22nd century ship doctrine as being closer to early steam Ironclads in role. The corvettes act the way monitor ironclads/gunboats of that era, doing in system patrol and providing supplemental firepower. The frigates act the way steamfrigates would act, doing longer range patrol and scouting while hanging back to provide fire support in big battles. And the cruisers act as casemate ironclads, being the line units that fight most major battle, hitting hard and taking big hits, but being very expensive to operate and so only used in limited numbers.

Of course. There were people in the romluan empire that wanted a cardassian style detapa council 😊
Just saying how history might be different if the federation and the klingons never made peace but the Romulans did.
The 1st and 3rd of the great powers joining forces.
For one vgm there would be no restrictions on cloaking technology?

What about the Romulans? Are they not the superpower?

no not really. thats why they had to act from behind the scenes. and went for the weakest (Humanity) first

@@venomgeekmedia9886It's just usually it was suggested they were a rival to the Federation and since the Federation was made up of many species, including the Vulcans, I figured that meant they must have been at least more powerful than the individual Federation members. Also I thought the Romulans working behind the scenes suggested that they were the dominant power and preventing Humans, Vulcans, and Andorians from getting too friendly was their attempt at keeping things that way. I thought they feared taking direct action might result in them joining together against a common enemy (which is ultimately what happened anyway).

why do vulcans and andorians not like eachother.

Mostly just competing territorial ambitions. Their space is right next to each other. Andorians are also pretty angsty people, and they don't like the arrogance of Vulcans.

They are both part of the same type of weapons. But its a matter of yeild and capabilities. The photonic stuff was lower yield and not warp capable. While the photon stuff was much more massive a yield and warp capable. And Quantum are the upgrade to that system. They are all anti mater based.

      @@braddl9442 oh thank you.
That's what I don't understand...Ok I know a Photon torpedo is matter - antimatter annihilating and results in high energy photons.
      Alright. Photon torpedo.
Then, the Photonic hasn't warp capabilities, and quantum.. Hmm antimatter matter reaction is a quantum physics effect, after all.
      Oh fancy names 😅
Plasma weapons, ok that's super hot particles.
      Plasmatic weapons? 😅 🤣

And yet immediately admitted it was clickbait. Props for THAT at least. Alot of channels are shameless with clickbait titles without acknowledging they're clickbait. A certain car mechanic TH-camr is notorious for it though I still like his content, guy knows his stuff.
