ever since i saw the kumari it was my favourite design in all of trek. the nx was beautifull but anytime i saw the kumari in that show it just stole my heart. seeing shran was a nice bonus too.
In this era... they don't have a battleship as such. Cabbage would be good against vulcans raining missile. And the Clavical would be a good counter to the kumari.
How you mentioned the fleet ages at the end of the video. The Vulcans have been the biggest kids in the playground for a very long time and I suspect their aggression at the time of ENT was a relatively new phenomenon. Hence the Andorians responding with the fleet they have.
Well, I believe when humanity was introduced to the galaxy as a whole. All after humanity discovered Warp Travel. Vulcans thought they could pause the rapid growth of humanity. Yet, humans, decades after reaching Warp 1. They managed to break the Warp 5 barrier. And that scared the Vulcans. Who were actively withholding information and most likely trying to sabotage Humanity's efforts. Though they failed. This....scared them. So they got very paranoid about humanity and also with Andorians. Believing Andorians have had a hand in the rapid growth of humanity's Warp Technology. So that is why, behind a temple, they had a spying station so close to Andorian Space. I mean, after their "first encounter" (in the minds of paranoid Vulcans), Andorians and Humans seem to get along just fine. Even having a....frosty introduction. They truly believed that Humanity may end up siding with Andor if a war did break out. Thus, putting the Vulcans defending themselves on two different fronts. And no, one really to turn to for help. I mean, can't expect the Klingons to help. They likely just laugh and grab the Klingon equivalent of Popcorn, and watch.
Great vid reminds of how we all got cheated by Enterprise ending early as the next season would have been the Romulan war arc and the Andorians would have no doubt put on a good showing.
The Andorian fleet is interesting in how its doctrine abandons generalization in favor of specialization solely to counter the Vulcans, especially since it's done in a more extreme way than what Starfleet did to combat the Borg; showing the dynamics between the two. Looking it up, the Ilthirin is also sometimes called the Sevaijen. Maybe the two are sub-classes of each other? Also, for the post-E-R-War battleship, it should probably be left out of the combat conditions for at least the initial rounds.
I almost wouldn't characterize it that way, from what we see. it's more like everything they've got has a combat role, whatever else it might do for a living, if anything. Like, the Kumari's their does-all cruiser but they are a fightey people with fast engines and good beam tech. So the Guard has things with guardey roles. I mean, given the state of things in Enterprise, their military cruiser has better sensor tech than Earth's dedicated explorer, even with Vulcans probably helping their tech somewhat on that point. I'm not familiar with the video game ships, but you'd expect a more martial service to have martial roles.
Except for your reference about end, Dorian doctrine being long range firepower controlling the distance, depending on their heavy armor. Except for the armour this sounds like Jackie Fisher policy his first hit fast and don’t stop hitting.😎👍
Between this and the Vulcans you start to understand how big of the deal the Creation of the Federation was. Imagine if Luxembourg convinced late 19th century France, Britain, and Germany to all join them together into one nation.
you know, i am now quite intrested how the andorians compare to the romulans during the earth-romulan war. particulary how the romulans managed to attack andor. guess i might rewatch some old episodes. great video
Iike the andorians. Like that crazy uncle at parties 😁. Is there gonna be a pre starfleet and tellorite doctrines too? That way you get all founders of the federation
While describing the Vulcans as having larger numbers of vessels and the Andorians doing more with less I immediately thought a good comparison was the UNN vs the MCRN from "The Expanse" since both the Vulcan High Command and United Nations Navy both had larger vessel groups and more specialized while the Andorian Imperial Guard and Martian Congressional Navy creating smaller number of combat-oriented multi-role ships. The battle cruiser sounds like a good analog for the Donnager-class as both are likely to center a battle group and be the main combat force
I just realized, we now have Imperial Guard, Vulcan High Command, Klingon Imperial Navy, Kriosian and Orion fleets. But not Starfleet or Romulan Star Navy. Are these in the plans?
They should have festooned that “little” craft with 4 or 6 torpedo launchers instead of 2. It’s like if a WWI destroyer could instantly launch a spread of 12 torpedoes. Add another ten craft and even as brave a commander as Beatty would turn away in terror, especially since he ran away from a single imagined periscope. I would like to see in science fiction the same struggles and uncertainties Fischer, Jellicoe, and Beatty faced during the Great War. Cloaking would be a perfect example of a weapon against supply chains that can only be countered with escorts.
Really liking these vids! I never think your videos are too long because they’re so good but this time you’ve slotted for these are so my favorites! 👍😃 again I’d listen to an hour or longer if you made them…😂
I had the thought the other day, while watch a video talking about winter warfare, about a big battle during one of the 23rd century Federation Klingon wars. Basically, a surface battle on an arctic planet between Klingons and Andorians who are dealing with conditions that they're more adapted to biologically than humans (maybe?) but is crazy hardcore. Yes, Battle of Hoth but cooler 😘
Just wanna say: Smaller doesnt mean less capable. The sovereign class is smaller than the galaxy, but much more capable when it comes to battle. Its really about specialisation. Cool, that the andorians saw that.
To be fair, the Sovereign is about the same length as a Galaxy. It just trims off most of the unused volume and probably rearranges the layout to be more space efficient/lower profile (also, 1-2 decades of tech advancements), so ends up smaller overall.
How did the klingons become any threat to the federation between this era and kirks? you'd really think that these two powers (Vulcan and Andorian) combined alone would stomp them especially combined.
@@kingdomofvinland8827 its still human technology with some alien add on's. andorian shields, vulcan tractor beams. but its still based on the NX technology.
A little too much speculation in this video, and others. Not enough information was provided in the show. I applaud your creativity, but i feel its all just made up. No canon truth to any if it. Which is fine. But i personally don't care for conjecture on subjects like this. Enterprise was a terrible show.
I hate to say it but RPG company FASA did Star Trek lore SOOOooo much better than these later generation versions. In their Star Trek universe the Andorians especially were still making ships for StarFleet as well as the Vulcan’s. Long live FASA Star Trek RPG as well as FASA’s Star Trek combat simulator! I especially love the Andorian torpedo ship. The exact same principal as FASA’s Andor class cruiser😎👍
"The Vulcans say that the desert teaches men the meaning of endurance, but it's the ice that forges real strength."- Shran

What a sick title, "The Armada of Ice". Love the video!
I wonder how would the Romulan Battleships stand up against the Andorian Battleship and Vulcan Battleship?
Good idea for a video!
Against the two, not well.

Well it was all tied to administrator Vlaas so when he rose to power.
What everybody tends to forget was that administrator Vlas was a tal shiar agent

There's a reason why they targeted the humans first...
It’s interesting to see the dancing fleet and the close to clear fleet styles.
Great video! I also like the fan designed "Krotus" class from "The Romulan War."
Iike the andorians.

You should consider making a video series concentrating on tactics commonly used by the various species.

At a guess mid 20th century.

Yes, Battle of Hoth but cooler 😘
Interesting scenario.
Does anyone think the Condor-class Raider (Chakotay's ship) was based somewhat on Andorian design?
As I can see some similar touches.
Good idea. Would show the design tradition bubbling away under the surface.
100+ meters sounds small but keep in mind the largest super carrier in the world is 337m and has a population larger than most small towns.
True. And given that these are relatively primative ships. It makes sense.

The Vulkans must have spent too many resources interfering with the United Earth's technological development to be able to advance their own.

Pretty well 1v1 but there are a lot more klingons
Did the Andorians or Vulcans build anything past this? Like in the TNG era etc
Probably. But I haven't seen as many.
What happened to all these ships after the Federation was formed and Starfleet became its official space navy?
The imperial guard stuck around although. Starfleet would only get joint designs. Whilst native vulcan and andorian designs continued to be developed.
