I just installed the flowmaster 40 series American thunder. Ome of the best decisions of my life. Terrific volume and amazing sound. Love it. Great job flowmaster!
I agree with David Rossman you should use a regular stock V8 and a regular stock six and regular stock four cylinders that would be the best way to do it
I really appreciate the video, but if you're true intention is to help everyday people choose a muffler based on sound shouldn't a stock engine be used? Most people aren't running strokers.
I'm a chevy guy, but if you're gonna do sound demos with Flowmaster mufflers, use a foxbody with the 5.0 One of the best exhaust notes I've ever heard.
I had a 97 Z71 vortec 350 with a pair of super 10’s wow it was an eye opening sound! Very aggressive especially because I had 4” tips 18” long. Loved it but my favorite mufflers I had was a pair of 12” glass packs. Sawweet sound for me!
Have a 2018 5.0 coyote powered f150 with resonator delete 3" piping going into a flowmaster super 44 with 4" stainless Polished tip sounds like a beast!
I've had FM on 3 of the 5 Wranglers that I owned, and are some of the best quality built products made. Although they are a little heavy for racing applications, and are better with trucks/Jeeps. Thats why I went with 3" SLP loudmouth catbacks on my Challenger, and flow super well. Shes a modern Challenger SRT8, so it's heavy and is why they are a better choice. Anyone that has one of these big beautiful beast, knows what I'm talking about and can use all the help we can get in that area
Thank you thank you thank you I'm sold on the super 50 Series I have a 1978 F-150 4x4 with 351 four-barrel and full length headers hooked up to2 1/2" -- 2 chamber Flowmasters.. and as I'm getting older it's too damn loud especially when I'm snow plowing and using it everyday thank you for this demonstration I'm sold
No its not. Outlaw is basically a straight through muffler. The super 10 has 1 small chamber. The outlaw is louder than the super 10. I have it on my mustang.
You either like the Flowmaster sound or you don’t. Not much middle ground. Older hot rodders grew up with the sound of glass packs in the 60’s -70’s. Flowmasters sound too tiny to many of us older hot rodders. Those who grew up in the 80’s and later tend to prefer the Flowmaster sound as that is what every 5.0 Mustang and Camaro had.
Hey Flowmasters, please redo this video with sound decibel readings inside and outside the Challenger for all your mufflers in the video so a potential customer can compare the loudness between all the mufflers and not just a few. This will also allow a customer to determine whether any particular muffler may be louder or quieter compared to their existing muffler with their own loudness measurements. There is a sound level meter app available to do this. Thanks in advance.
Hey Brad Gris, please redo this comment and think about how the inside and outside of the modded Challenger for all of their mufflers in the video wouldn't be comparable to your shitty 150hp saab and it won't help you decide.
man I love that first pro series muffler love that sound and tone and then the muffler after that one and the 40 series always wanted the 40 series muffler
Cammed so there’s more exhaust duration/sound, long tube equal length headers, Dr Gas x-pipe, 40-series flows. Maybe heads and a supercharger for good measure ;) Only thing crazier I’ve heard was a cammed 5.0 equal length shorties into a Dr gas with dynomax mufflers on a ‘94 with the flared LX fox style tailpipes. It howled like a banshee. This vid painfully underserves the mufflers in it.
Great comparison. I have a 300s 2013 year with the hemi and added the super 40s. Great sound. Had to remove the resonators to get the best sound. The only complaint is interior noise around 2k rpm. Rest is music to my ears.
I want to say my 85 C30 pickup has Super 10 mufflers on it. Regardless even with factory true duals, stock stainless manifolds and no cats as she came off the factory floor, that 454 under the hood is mean sounding.
I used to like that. Someone in a parking lot was sitting like a lump in front of you, get them a blast, they jumped. Or in underground garages, alarms will go off.
I use to have super 44 on my dodge pickup with 5.5 inch echos under the cab set off car alarms and my truck was heard coming into town and had to get in and get out because I was on the watch list for police
I have a super 10 on my 4.3 vortec...it is worth it ...it sounds like a V8 at low revs and at high as a raspy v6 sound and as the catch back happens it makes pops n crackles.
Thank you thank you thank you I am sold on the super 50 I have a 78 Ford F150 4x4 with a 351 4-barrel full length headers and 2 1/2 " Two" chamber Flowmasters straight out the ass...and as I'm getting older it's too damn loud LOL with snow plowing and everyday driving I can't wait to try these 50 Series thank you again for this video
When you were a kid did you ever do the baseball card in the spokes thing? You might want to look into something like that. Then you'll really be cool!
I love the 40 series flowmaster I have that on my 85 s10 2.8 an people are like is that a v8 an I'm like nope haha . I run that type on everything I own flowmaster is the best in my opinion
The ORIGINAL 40 is more aggressive than the super 44 every time I’ve had them. I dunno why they list the 44 as more aggressive. The original 40 is the only one that isn’t a delta Flow and it growls all through the rpm range....aka drone. Super 44 has a lot less drone at cruise speed. The original 40 is louder in every way in my experience Super 10 sounds like a loud tin can
I have a 1995 mitsubishi 3000gt. Still stock. What would be a good muffler to go with the stock v6. I don’t have money to go all out on the system so I just want the mufflers. What would be the best sounding flor masters
Hows about you guys figure out how to build a muffler that actually muffles. Ya all more noise doednt necessarily mean more power. I got honda blackbird 69 ci and 165 hp and it's so quiet I can hear the rear tire spin...completely stock exhaust...been on a dyno with 3 different exhaust
Alguien que me diga, le puedo instalar un silenciador flowmaster serie 40 a un astra 2001. Le quedara por la parte de abajo quitando el silenciador original del vehiculo e instalarle el serie 40.
What would be best for a 2013 Dodge Charger SXT AWD? Don’t want it so loud that it will wake up my neighborhood at 5am but not quiet like the chargers and challengers are in stock form. I was thinking 40 series delta flow.

Not much I guess. It depends on what spec of engine/piping. No muffler or low restriction can lowers the velocity of the exhaust flow and so back-pressure -> scavenging (puls more fresh air/fuel in the engine). So If stock exhaust with modded engine / bigger displacement, a bigger exhaust can make more hp.
Best throaty bass for 2015 Mustang that has standard exhaust but H pipe, or do i open original mufflers and redesign in the style of Flowmaster with delta plates? Opinions please? Straight through might be too much.
Great video! I'm trying to decide on a exhaust for my BMW 550i xDrive. As you know, the car has a Twin Turbo V8 but it's way too quiet. Resonator delete (replace with X-Pipe), 2.75" exhaust, but which mufflers will I need for deep, loud sound with minimal drone inside. That's the question.
MagnaFlow is the best exhaust system bar none. Yeah I got 44s on mine currently had super 10s original 40s flowmaster outlaw mufflers.

One of the best exhaust notes I've ever heard.
My guy 👍
I agree
My 4.6 V8 might have something to say to that.
The muffler that has “3 chambers” is the one you want. Chill at cruising speeds and loud AF at WOT. Best of both worlds.

Never thought any flowmaster actually sounded good dynamax are the best flowing and sounding mufflers that gives that old fashioned muscle car sound!
One of the best sounding exaust are the (89 - 94) 5.0 Mustang with an H-Pipe.
