    I don't understand why all the TH-camrs make such a Big Deal out of this.
    I am Raw. But IF there would be a day where I decide to eat a vegan big mac or whatever so what? next day I'm back to raw and all good. why go back to vegan? consider it as a cheatmeal and done.

      I would have to respectfully disagree with you bobby. I'm a recovering alcoholic and ex 2 pack a day smoker and I think every recovering addict in the world would have to agree that there's no benefit in relapsing on your addiction, for any reason.
      Certain foods are addicting and there's no denying that, I personally had a harder time quitting bread, meat, and sugar than i did quitting cigarettes or alcohol. So you couldn't convince me that having a cheat meal isn't relapsing.
      Edit: Sorry, I read Big mac at first, not vegan big mac.

      Well unless you are eating one of the like half of all vevitables that are poisonous raw. Fortunately most won't kill you, but a lot of them will make you sick. Like for example lima beans and kidney beans.
      This is of course a fact I rather enjoy introducing some of the more pompous vegans too whenever they actually try to argue that veganism is about healthy eating rather than an ideologically driven moralistic crusade against the farming of animals. Hell some even get uppity about keeping bees for honey... and the worst we do to them is just open their hive every once in a while to take some of the excess they aren't going to need.

      +Chris R kidney beans do not make me sick

    • @chrisr3120
      @chrisr3120 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Penelope416 Not after being boiled long enough to break down the specific proteins that cause it. But if you tried to eat them raw you would find yourself suffering from food poisoning which entails vomiting and diarrhea for about 2 to 3 hours.
      www.medic8.com/healthguide/food-poisoning/red-kidney-bean-toxins.html
      By the way... You might be eating beans that are precooked. Beans that come in a can or a jar typically are cooked to help preserve them.

      +Good Night all vegans are judgemental. In fact, all humans are judgemental. If something works for one person it may not work for another. Some individuals do better on raw, others do better with cooked. And, if you want go towards the majority population, some meat eaters are healthier compared to other meat eaters. We all have a journey that will be judged.

    I think you seem like a very good natured and sweet young lady. It is very easy for a young person such as yourself speak about the energy, etc. that you experience, but, i, myself just turned 55 and also just became Vegan as of 4-8-16. While I wish I had started this journey 20 years or more ago, I have begun now. Everyone's body, metabolism, energy level and activity level varies and age DOES play a huge factor in this equation as well. I have had many days of great energy and, I feel too good to revert back to my old eating ways and, I care too much about animal life and our planet as well. Thanks for all the wealth of information that you have provided to those of us just embarking on our own unique journeys. :)))

    So glad you did this video because I think so many people feel that once they go raw, all cooked foods are 'evil' or somehow unhealthy, which is so not true (as long as it's vegan). No one should feel they have to restrict themselves to one diet, as you said, listen to your body and do what feels right! I became very deficient on the raw diet and lost way too much weight, so returning to a mix of raw and cooked has balanced everything out for me. :)

    I've been a vegetarian for 30 years now after having read John Robbins' "Diet for a New America". That being said, it's only been in the last year that I have moved from simple vegetarianism to fully vegan. But like you, I feel much better on what is now for me an 80/20 raw to vegan cooked foods diet....Also, like you, it makes socializing so much easier! The important thing for me though, is to "lightly" cook foods so they are tasty, but not to overcook them like most people do. I still want at least the majority of the nutrients intact. I am Cooking, Juicing, Sprouting, Dehydrating, and Blending most of what I am trying to garden-grow for myself and my small family. Fun, Healthy, and totally Fulfilling. Couldn't agree with your decision more. Cheers!

    I was glad to see you added in cooked foods. Humans need starches. I swear 100% raw vegans are a little nutty, I don't know if it's a lack of nutrients from starches and legumes or if it has to do with the idealism but yeah...haha you're better off eating starches too.

    Wow, i also transitioned from raw to mostly raw and some cooked. It was also hard for me to maintain a healthy weight and i began having strange craving for chalky substances (Its called Pica). i incorporated legumes, some grains and chia seeds and that resolved the deficiency. The elevated states of spirituality, when eating raw, is so real. The only way one can understand is if they experience it for themselves. Music even sounded different to me when Fully Raw. Crazy! thank you so much Rawvana for your wonderful contributions to the vegan community. Truly a beautiful soul!!!!!

    The reason you likely felt the cravings is because you weren't getting the nutrients you needed for balanced raw nutrition. It's good you followed the signals your body gave you.
    I myself have been 100% raw for over 15 years and I've gone through these things myself. The way most people do low fat raw is going to make them eventually have to quit. The typical way of doing LFRV restricts too many food choices and causes nutrient deficiencies.
    I've found that it's important to add in other food groups. And to not limit yourself to fruits as your main or only source of carbohydrates. I have my own Low Fat Raw system which completely defeats cooked food cravings for the long term not just a few years. And yes I still eat a lot of fruit but it's not my only source of raw carbs.
    There is a whole group of foods called Savory Raw Carbs that many raw foodists won't eat because of the way they were taught to eat raw. But these foods will leave your body feeling deeply satisfied and not only your body but your taste buds.
    You can go 100% raw vegan and thrive like you've never thrived before. But for most people it cannot be done long term how its currently taught in the low fat raw food movement.
    I'm muscular, thin and fit and I'm now half a century old. People compliment my body all of the time. Strangely enough, even young teenage girls are attracted to me and yet I'm 50.
    When you eat raw in a nutritionally balanced manner it makes you feel like a million bucks. I feel better than ever and I'm closing in on my 16th year of being 100% raw.

    I noticed you were different right away. You sound more relatable now.
    I started off on a raw til 4 style diet and sometimes ate raw all day. My mood was elevated. I was happy, loved nature and probably came off a little crazy to some lol. I believe that this is because of the extremely low amounts of fats though, since I still ate cooked.
    After eating less raw I also stop fearing good fats like avocados and cashews and almonds ^_^ I think balance is achieved when we listen to our bodies. I live in California and I was so cold during summer nights lol. This was definitely not normal. so more cooked or more fat... I'm not sure what causes the change but, like you said, I too feel more grounded. plus I love potatos and rice and always craved them the most during raw vegan challenge weeks. I now enjoy craving kale salads instead lol ^_^
    Much Love!!

      Not true! Some might say the same thing about regular vegan. But when you only eat fruits and vegetables, it can be done on a very tight budget. My food budget has always been low. You just need to be smart about meal planning and where to shop. Of course, that's true of any diet! ;-)

    • @Tidushii
      @Tidushii 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@naturalbeautyfoods512 It's not that hard to find out what is the best nutritional and healthiest food a human can eat you just look at where on the planet people tend to live longest, healthiest and have almost no cases of obesity: Japan and what do they eat? tons and tons of raw meat, the natural diet of humans. Nothing natural about veganism NO PLANTS have Vitamins A/B6/B12/D/F/K2/amino acids/creatine/carnitine/carnosine/taurine/hemi-iron/CoQ10/CLA these a vegan would need to supplement with pills and other pharmaceuticals (sounds healthy and natural?) also veganism kills more animal life and habitat than any meat industry, those soy fields do a lot of damage look into it. Humans are designed to eat meat we have the same digestion track as dogs and simply can't break down many plants and seeds we don't have the germs for it in our intestines to break it down, most plants and seeds are very toxic to the human body in fact all we can break down from it is sugar and that's all a vegan diet is: sugar. that's why they become malnourished and lose weight. Our earliest ancestors made glorified cave paintings of buffalo, deer and other animals they hunted they never glorified fruits and plants did they? in nature you could not survive on a vegan diet but you could easily survive on eating only meat that's nature telling you enough, most fruits and plants people eat are man made anyway so what's natural about it? Vegans are just a sugar junkies always hungry and slowly killing themselves, Veganism is a death cult.

And I experience something that I can't fully describe other than my senses were so in heightened. I saw the earth through high definition and all I wanted to do was to just go be in the forest. At the time I used to shave my head bald and I decide to grow my hair out during that fast. My natural hair color is brown and a grew back almost black. People thought that I died my hair that's how dark it was. For a whole month after the cleanse I didn't even need to wear deodorant because my system was so clean. It Was an amazing experience!

    It needs courage to talk about this changes when you made your name with raw lifestyle on the internet. You have my admiration. I think we just need to listen to ourselves and make the good choice for us. No one else can make it. Eating cooking food is very good too. Example: tomatoes, mushrooms... they have other benefits when they're cooked. I am a vegan 75% raw ;)

    Yep. As long as we are choosing healthy foods for the majority of our meals, we should listen to our bodies. Yet, my belief is that green veggies (especially leafy greens) are key in any diet. Be healthy.

    Great video! I've been curious about this topic for a while, and still am. It seems to me all popular rawfoodists on youtube live in super hot places like Hawaii, LA, Australia or South East Asia, where I can understand how it must feel great eating raw all the time....there's so much variety all year and cold food is so refreshing! However, where I live summers are short reaching a maximum temperature of about 30 degrees once or twice, and then winters are long and cold and reach -20 degrees regularly (the sea literally freezes over). In this cold weather I find it hard to eat raw, I crave warm things to warm me up and things like rice and cooked beans. I try to have a smoothie each day after the gym....but I just don't enjoy salad for dinner in that temperature! It's also true that raw food is timely unless you eat only smoothies.....and working 12 hours a day 6 days a week makes that super hard too.
    Completely agree and understand with everything said in this video!! Cooked plant based food never hurt anyone :)

    Really like Rawvanas honesty, being a vegan is not about being some kind of unloving legalist or about living in the forest and giving some false impression to those who are not vegans that we belong to a cult because we are living this lifestyle. they will see a changed life in us...I think it is better to persuade others to change through the power of love and the of the spiritual life, yust like Rawvana does...Ant UK

    Unless u have the time to just stuff ur face with high calorie exotic fruit all day - it's risky - I know this because I tried doing 100% raw twice and I just couldn't seem to eat enough calories to have the energy I needed - I would get weak, dizzy, lightheaded and just want to go to bed - but that wasn't practical for me - I'm a full time nurse and like wking out as well - however I absolutely believe in the vegan diet - it gave me tons of energy - and as u said it IS easier to eat more raw in the warmer months - and raw good should be a lot if the diet - however I think a balance is good for most people - if they don't have access to the best ripe fruit all the time!

    i did 4 months of raw vegan and then started adding a cooked meal a day. now i'm back to both raw and cooked. i did experience some euphoria when i began raw, but my body likes cooked food too, esp being a vata dosha (ayurvedically-speaking). Vegan is the Ultimate Goal

  • @VivianGalespiritproductions
    @VivianGalespiritproductions 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    The 3 1/2 years you ate raw healed your body so going vegan and adding some cooked foods after 3 years is okay. But it's easy to slip backward. I feel preparing raw food dishes is a lot quicker than cooked meals. Every Friday I cut up my veggies, onions etc,. It makes meal prep during the week easier and I make a big salad. I will alternate Fridays and make a desert for the week and raw crackers. For breakfast, I'll have a smoothie and I only eat 2 meals a day now. Around noon and dinner between 4-5pm. Occasionally a light snack at night or just herbal tea. I have only eaten all raw occasionally but feel better eating some organic meats like chicken, fish, shrimp, crab etc. We have to listen to our bodies like you said. It's a process going raw or changing our diet in any way. Thanks for sharing.

    You do know the craving for cook food is when your mind is disconnecting your emotions from those foods. At this point you either go back to it to reinforce the connection or resist the urge and it disconnect all together....I'm an expert on fasting. And do absolute dryfasting and waterfasting since 2009...And this is what happens when you fast, this process takes a lot longer on a raw diet. It takes years on a raw diet...You were actually reaching the next level, but give into the urges...If staying at this level is your wish that's fine, but just know that you were reaching another level of detox...yes, this meant your mind body and spirit would have elevated even higher...I do not understand how people don't know this...it's just natural progression

    The weight thing is because when you cook the food you make it easier for your body to digest, so it digests more of the food, thus you intake more calories and gain weight as a result.
