When my wife and I were downsizing and sold our house we had ordered a giant dumpster and yes Scott we filled it up with all the stuff I had been saving thinking I would need one day. It was about 28 years worth of stuff insane the amount of stuff that accumulated over the years. But it was time to get rid of it all.
I've been cleaning out a large closet for a few months. At least twice a week, I take out a few pieces of clothing and wash them and then take them to the nearest Goodwill store.
Hey, I would listen to you ramble ANY day! 😉 Coffee ice cream is one of my favorites (along with mint chip). I was so happy that today was Monday (upload day)! 👍🏻
It's windy here too, but not too bad. Great job on the sorting! That's never easy. Each thing I get rid of, leads to more peace and easier finding of the things I need.
Hello from the Pyrenees Spain. It’s lunchtime here and I’m eating a chicken and bean enchilada. Since I started watching you I’ve been eating enchiladas and burritos more than ever. Thanks for this🤣🤣
A good cup of coffee always helps the medicine go down. I so relate -- I have a ton of stuff I am working on whittling down. I am generally overwhelmed but take little chunks at a time with the requisite coffee & snack breaks. Good job paring your things down and thanks for the inspiration!
Oh yes, that is a great tool bag. Husky is a good bag. I have had one for year's and it gets moved from vehicle to vehicle. The one I have is reinforced in the wear areas and at the handle. The struggle is real parts multiply while you are not looking. My son helped me put up 8x8 foot peg board and we emptied and sorted all the tools in the garage and got things organized into the two rolling tool boxes and some things up on the pegboard. I can now easily find the tools I need for a job and it is easy to put everything away, because we gave way or sold all the duplicate tools. I'm a little envious of your two bags of parts, I still have a 3rd car part of the garage to clean out old parts for cars I no longer own or home repairs and up grades. Oh well I have cleared out and organized a lot last year. Next year I will have done even more by spring time. 😊
So funny, I cleaned out my dresser and closet today,I had lots of decisions to make, but knew it needed doing. It feels great to let go of things I no longer wear and things I never wore but purchased for some unknown reason. Off they went to my local thrift store. I feel light and less stressed and have a spring in my step. Spring, get it… spring cleaning..planted flowers too. I sprung into action and got it done…😂😂😂
Scott, I only found your channel a short time ago, but I have been watching your videos daily. I hope to try out van living at some point in the future and you have definitely inspired me. I live in Eureka, so it has been fun seeing you enjoying Humboldt! Maybe I'll see you parked somewhere up here in the future. Best wishes to you!
Hi scott glad you were able to sort thru those bags and pick the things that would be useful going forward in your travels. Wishing you luck on finding a good decaffeinated coffee beans.
it is time for spring cleaning, and it feels soo good when it's done. might as well celebrate with yummy coffee & coffee ice cream - sounds like a very good dream
You've been a great inspiration Scott... 👍 Thursday I managed to get 2 bags full and a small box of misc items out of my van and donated to the Thrift Store. I'm definitely not done ... and I need a different setup for my kitchen area because I have too many items hanging and clanking ... - especially my kettles that hit me square in the forehead every time I turn around. I got a black eye from the handle of my percolator when I sat up after my nap. Stuff hangin' everywhere in here. Dangerous, lol.
Yep, a coffee could definitely add to my list of accomplishments. I wish it was just two bags in a van instead of a house full of random crap. Your program always inspires me. Since you don't have a dog, maybe you could see the yapping as a sort of minimalist compromise. 😂
My back is killing me. Just cleaned my entire tiny apt with a new vacuum from Amazon that does not work. Scrubbed the floors, had to use wet viva to get stuff up from the shags from the due to the crap performance of the new vacuum and hung some self stick wallpaper. Got ice on my back and looking forward to your new post! 😃
Thank you for your enjoyable videos. I have been in my van for five years now. Originally went cheap on electrical. Had some connections loosen up. I started using silver conductive epoxy on as many connections as possible. So far it works great, it's like superglue for electrical! I bought the cheapest 2 part epoxy on Amazon (about 20$). Happy static travels!
Took a trip to Colorado these last few days and told my husband constantly we need a cup of coffee and I watched your channel in the evening after site seeing thinking about my cup of coffee tomorrow lol
I have a couple rolls aluminum tape and used most in my rig. I have just gone through my stuff also for donations. It’s “crap” that’s taking up room. thanks Scott 😊
Another problem with decluttering is one isn't going to throw away their Dad's fishing reel even though they don't use it. " Good Junk" is hard to toss out.
Ever since hearing that there was a 'blind taste test' with wine tasting experts that chose TJ's two-buck chuck wine as one of the best over other more expensive great wineries, I don't put too much emphasis on any fancy smancy products anymore. I'm just happy with a coffee that's rich and tastes like coffee. TJ's generic decaf/caffein 3:1 mix is my go-to. And I bought that same tool bag 'on sale' six years ago for five bucks, times sure have changed. I think those clamps may have come with a power inverter or power station to hookup directly to a lead acid battery. And I will try their ice cream, thanks for recommending !!
I do the same with my coffee mug with water, but if it gets bad ha ha, I spray it with vinegar water and wipe clean. Butter is supposed to be good for you in coffee.

I drink French roast thinking of trying a lighter roast...I always use heavy cream and add butter first cup each morning. Use a gadget to whip the coffee.
A neat job of clutter organization well done! I have found that what works for me is when going thru items and just seems so much that I become overwhelmed to where nothing gets thrown out that as I come to an item I know I will not be keeping I throw that item out right then and not wait till I have a larger assortment of items to toss. Once when cleaning an Art n Sewing room of mine I told myself, ok, look some of this stuff must go, even if it means one item per day per each day of a month... I've found with that way of doing, usually just a few days and that job is done 🎉🎉 Taking note that by the amount of clutter clean up you accomplished that maybe that coffee at the start that you didn't like must have kicked you into motion and THEN maybe too, the looking forward to a Great cup of coffee after the clutter clean up helped also... Really looks good that clean open space under your bed with all so well sorted out.
One of my criteria is how easily can the item be replaced. Can I get it in any number of stores or is it something esoteric and specialized that I would need to order? One heavy load I've failed to lighten is all my wrenches. I have a full set of SAE and metric sockets and open end/box wrenches. But I might need them, right? And it's rare anymore that you can buy just one wrench. So every time I go over a sharp bump I get a ka-chank sound reminding me I really need to part with some of that stuff.

Then I had to have spring / summer sheets and Ross just happened to have what I needed today and I still have the sets of flannels because I will need them again down the road . I also hung the drapes/ cover ups for my pop- out windows for this 85° weather with the wind blowing as I try to keep the dust out of here and then I sat here looking at my pot holders ,hanging up above my stove, which say happiness grows here, and things are absolutely growing in here❤😂❤ thank goodness I don't have any of that manly electrical stuff you have, nice ! I too am a hoarder of things I'll someday need. It's a thing of comfort. Most are spare parts, but others are different types of coffee makers and heaters. I also have a full range of tools including a welder and midsize compressor. My goal is boondocking so I need to be able to handle any situation, for me and others. Winch, generator, spare solar charge controller, excess battery and solar panels, yada, yada, yada.
It is so disappointing to purchase coffee with hard earned $$$ and it doesn't taste good. 😕 At least you made up for it with good chocolate ice cream and better-tasting coffee! 😊 Btw, we got back from Mendocino today. It was beautiful! We camped one night at Van Damme State Park and the 2nd night at Russian Gulch State Park. We saw the giant sink hole, we went to Glass Beach and we wandered around Mendocino and looked at many of the shops and admired the interesting architecture. Oh, and flowers in bloom around there at this time of year were amazing! Ever since I saw the videos you made there I have wanted to go and now I want to go again. I couldn't get enough. Thanks for the inspiration. 😊
Yes, I was hoping this bag was going to be the one finally. So happy to hear that you liked Mendocino! You got to some amazing places. And you have lots more to see on your next trip.
The closest Trader Joe's to me is across town with heavy traffic to contend with. Getting there is more hassle than it's worth. I'm never very impressed with what I find there so I just don't bother.

@@StaticCamperVan it’s easy to make. Get a box of gelatin, then replace water with coffee 🍨😁
I struggle to get rid of things. My house is overflowing. Idk how I plan to move into a van but that’s my goal.
Most people get a storage unit when they start vanlife. But it’s so freeing to simply get rid of stuff
I am NOT A HORDER. I AM A COLLECTOR OF ARTICLES!!!!!!
I have same Scott ..stuff I need to get rid of big time xx
It is so disappointing to purchase coffee with hard earned $$$ and it doesn't taste good. 😕 At least you made up for it with good chocolate ice cream and better-tasting coffee! 😊
Btw, we got back from Mendocino today.
And.......... the minute one throws away something they need that something the next day !
A Tidy van, is a happy van.
The closest Trader Joe's to me is across town with heavy traffic to contend with. Getting there is more hassle than it's worth. I'm never very impressed with what I find there so I just don't bother.
But, ice cream
KONA COFFEEE BY COFFEE OF CHOICE...... EXPENSIVE BUT OHHH SO GOOD
I’ve never acquired a taste for Kona. Maybe that’s a good thing
Understood, reasonably
Thanks
Thank you Jessie. Have a great weekend!

Take care 😊👍 thinking of you one van life to another
Oops - I got my hopes up. I thought the ending part of the title was "Trader Joe's Coffee Ice Cream" - you may recall my only favorite coffee is Coffee Ice Cream. :)
Sorry Otter. I almost bought vanilla ice cream with the intention of making an affogato. But that’s for another video
U have to get "clutter crazy" and just start throwing out stuff..I just made a video on my "whts left of my storage unit stuff and throwing stuff out". I still have a lot of stuff to go through. It's so overwhelming at times. I pbly should drink more coffee🤣 I did notice in my area its getting harder to find coffee beans to grind, its driving me crazy..hey that could be a video🤔🤣 be careful with the decaf coffee, they bleach the beans with some horrible chemicals to decaf the beans.
I only buy swiss water decaf, no chemicals are used in that process
@@StaticCamperVan ok, good deal😃
