I know what you mean. I wear a sweater, plus at my cancer center, they offer heated blankets. I've been doing chemo and maintenance for 4 years. Take care and best wishes.
It's a good thing to hang out with coffee in Ikea. I'm kind of a loner but I know that I need to have "human contact" at least once a day. You might not like the humans you're in contact with but humans are social creatures. You don't have to really interact with anyone but being around people is good for your mental health. If it gets unpleasant you can always leave.
I'm a bit of a loner as well...but it's good to have little chats with ppl every now and then. And all ppl need one good friend if you can find them :)
Gosh, I agree with you in principle, but I too am a loner, and I could kick back in the van with a good book and a cup of coffee pretty much all day. I have social anxiety disorder, which to me means that I would rather have my fingernails pulled out one by one than to be forced to make idle talk with someone I don't know!
I really like your take on this. I'm also a loner and prefer to be NOT around other people at all... But I recognize that as a human perhaps I should be, more than I do. I like your idea of being in public around people, but keeping in mind that one does not have to interact with any of them. Thanks!🙂👍🏼
Good to see you’re doing well, Scott. If I’m warm enough and I can keep the rain off, I can walk in it for hours. Thanks for another rainy van video. Stay safe.
I bought a Carhart vest at a Home Depot and love it. Like you, I wear layers of merino wool and hardly ever wear a puffy jacket unless the temperatures are really low. Every one of my pillows (three of them) and any item that has the extended labels have them cut off with scissor. Once purchased, you can remove them. I do the same thing on inclement weather days...walk in malls and browse. I like the zippered case you bought for the throw pillow, giving it a cleaner and neater look. I really lucked out this winter and found a mountain vacation cottage to housesit long term...free of rent and utilities. 😊
Thanks again, Scott, for another mellow and relaxing video. Just the sounds of raindrops on the roof, a good meal in the prep, letting us into your cozy van, and watching you enjoy your fav coffee is always a nice way to view something predictable in this day and age of too of van life videos. What with the music and the drones, and the cutesy tours, it's a little, if not a lot, much. And as you always say, thank you, I really appreciate it😊.
My heated vest is Fieldsheer brand purchased from Costco & it is similar to yours but smaller 2250 mAh batteries last 3 to 4 hours on low / medium setting. I had to purchase several more batteries too. Stay warm 👍
Hey Scott, love your vids. Have a look at the Crazy Creek backpacking/camping chairs. We find them very useful in our stealth camper... Good for your back and don't take a lot of space. Keep well and keep on keeping on. Glad to see you did not need your GPS and a cut lunch in Ikea. We always have trouble trying to get out of those stores. They design them for entrapment, we are sure....
Thank you for another chill video. I just purchase the throw pillow covers and store my off season clothes or blankets in them. When I backpack I found I got really good at finding random wall outlets out in public. Backpacking taught me everything weighs something and takes up space. IKEA really is a nice place to get indoors and be around people but, not have to interact. This time of year is really rough because of the short days and long nights. I hope you stay warm and dry. Thank you again for the video.
It's a whole Ikea experience. I once spent 3 hours in that exact IKEA with a friend, wandering around, having a long lunch. (good inexpensive food) ....... Another place, in the Seattle area that's a good place to relax is Third Place books in Bothel. Lots of space to relax.
I was looking for a pillow to lean on too. I accidentally ran across a blanket and comforter bag, I put my sleeping bag into it and solved my problem for under $2.

I don’t know how you do it Scott. Every time I see a small van I think of you living in that space and I can’t imagine. I hate rain and I live in a full size 21 foot Promaster with standing headroom. And I hate the cold so in winter I’m in Latin America. Your resilience amazes me. Good job.
I'm thinking you could have auctioned off that olde pillow to one of your followers here and gotten more than you originally paid for it. Who doesn't like owning something that they saw on "TV" ? :)
@@sharonlutz1046 Yes for sure. I was so bummed to see it get thrown away. Could have taken it to Goodwill or given it to some homeless person. I always try to repurpose something if I can rather than see it go into a landfill.

I’ve heard an idea of stuffing their winter jackets in throw pillow covers and allowing the jackets to double as a pillow to save space while in the van. That said, here in western WA, jackets get damp and this idea wouldn’t be a practical solution for soggy outerwear but perhaps a good way to deal with bulky sweaters.

consumers are allowed to remove bedding tags. The do not remove rule is for sellers. It is a consumer protection law. I like the tube style pillows. I fold them in half if I want to prop up my heat for reading etc.
Aww, thanks so much! You’re correct in that I don’t celebrate but I do enjoy taking some time off. It’s like a mini vacation for me. Not that I need a vacation of course!
Hello Scott This gave me a great idea. I'm going to cut down my current pillow to make a lumbar support pillow. Do you ever hangout at the public library during rainy days. I really enjoyed IKEA when I lived in Georgia. That's when tiny living really felt doable. Great content. 😊
Wearing natural fabrics next to the skin and layering provides warmth. Wool, Cotten, Linen. A butcher shop is a better place to get your meats. They usually sell meats and fish from local farmers/ranchers.
All this talk about IKEA has put me in the mood to go to IKEA. I'm in Laughlin right now so the closest IKEA is in Las Vegas. Have you ever been to the Vegas IKEA? Guess I'll have to make a little trip up there. 😊 😊 And, of course, get some free coffee ☕.
It’s manic here, with the shopping tussle for Christmas in full swing, seeing you happy with a pear and coffee, reaffirms the true pleasure of simple things. l am currently liking a cup of tea and a persimmon finely sliced (which are in season for such a brief time here). So I’m happy to leave excess shopping for ‘stuff’ we don’t need with money we don’t have, to other people. Cheers

consumers are allowed to remove bedding tags. The do not remove rule is for sellers. It is a consumer protection law. I like the tube style pillows. I fold them in half if I want to prop up my heat for reading etc.
I didn't like Brussel sprouts either until I cooked them bacon, asparagus also is something I didn't like until I added bacon
So you're Fork Lift Certified!! 😊 Nice!!
The grilled cheese looks very good only needs a side of fries
Scott bought rechargeable batteries..interesting :)
I know you dont celebrate it, so merry coffeemas
Aww, thanks so much! You’re correct in that I don’t celebrate but I do enjoy taking some time off. It’s like a mini vacation for me. Not that I need a vacation of course!
Sun breaks are a gift in the Seattle winter.
Hello Scott
This gave me a great idea. I'm going to cut down my current pillow to make a lumbar support pillow. Do you ever hangout at the public library during rainy days. I really enjoyed IKEA when I lived in Georgia. That's when tiny living really felt doable. Great content. 😊
Library is a good idea. I haven’t been in a library in at least thirty years though
@@StaticCamperVan You might try a visit to the library. Much has changed in 30 years! You would enjoy it!
@lindaniedringhaus8790 you’re right. It’s time that I learned to read
You can use your coats stuffed into the pillow case or other clothing and towels to fill it with!!!
Someone suggested that several years ago and so I tried it. Unfortunately, it didn’t work for me
Scott you should use that heated vest under another jacket. That should work wonders!! Not only do you have layers but a heated layer at that!!
Yes, that is why I bought it and how I used the vest at work
You can wear a jacket with sleeves over the heated vest. Double warmth and covered arms!
Yeah that's why I bought the vest. Maybe you wrote this before I said it
2:50 That's a USB Type A connector.
No worries and a great burger… life is good! 😁
I have not been to the Vegas IKEA. I think they are all good though
I wish it would rain more in Yucaipa!
Don’t imagine that you get much rain at all, haha
I put my coats in my extra pillow covers. It keeps things tidy ❤
I got some cashmere sweaters at the thrift store and they keep me very warm. They are very light but effective.
That is one amazing looking grilled cheese sandwich!! 😃
Cheers
USB voltage too low for heat. Try a 12v one like ororo
You have perked my interest in that Groundworks coffee now. I checked their website and they deliver to Canada. I might treat myself.
I usually encourage people to search for a local brand. Although Groundwork is local to the PNW since the company is in Portland.
Good luck on your vanlife.. i too am static because i love my great paying job.. stay dry. And stay warm
You might try putting your jackets in a pillow case as a "prop up" pillow
This new pillow has been a perfect solution
Well done!. You did pretty much exactly what I would have done on a day like that, and I speak from experience, as I live just outside of Portland, Oregon.
