    Oh yes I agree. Certainly Jack doesn't care who you are to him murder is murder. It doesn't matter. I know it's just TV but Sam's character is one of the best prosecuting attorney's I've ever seen.

    I liked McCoy's closing arguments. And i had thought that they had almost gotten away with it. THey ran away, they blamed drugs he wasn't even using, they hired PIs to intimidate his classmates. He got what he deserved, that little shit.

    Jack McCoy has to be my favorite ADA. It didn’t matter who you were, if you did it, you were toast. It would also be part of a good L&O drinking game to see if he gets threatened with contempt.

      SVU has been on the air for eighteen seasons now and has just been renewed for a nineteenth season so I have to agree with you. It is the most successful Law and Order spinoff.

      The original required the ada to use more of their legal skills because forensic evidence was limited. Also they had to be absolutely sure that they were convicting the right person.

    I've interviewed or interrogated hundreds of various witnesses and suspects over the last 33 years (as a DoD investigator). Two people can tell you the absolute TRUTH about the same event and their stories may be quite different. ALL of us tell a story in our own words from our own point of view. The real "Truth", if there even is such a thing will always lie in the middle.
    Also, let us never forget that a Defense Attorney (in the USA) can NEVER defend a "guilty" person. It is impossible, because a person is Innocent UNTIL proven Guilty in a court of law. This loophole also helps defense attorneys sleep at night ;-)

    I remember this one episode it was really stupid how it ended I can't really all the details but it involved this mercenary group that murdered an entire group, I think, and th only reason they were found not guilty was because they were ex-war veterans and that was entire reason they got of. And even though law and order is fiction I was appauled then I said to my self, "If this how the justice works, then the justice system is truly broken being run by really stupid people."

    • @jenniferclark9842
      @jenniferclark9842 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Callum Lyall I think I know the episode you’re talking about. They weren’t acquitted per se, the jury was hung, if I recall correctly. An actual acquittal is rare. If the defendant isn’t convicted, it’s usually either due to them pleading out or a hung jury, which means they have to take their chances on another judge and jury.

    • @Gatz22
      @Gatz22 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I remember the episode they were those types of people that spew crap about patriotism and being so-called 'real' Americans fighting the tyranny of the government which Jack had to dumb it down for those retarded jurors to explain the simple fact they murdered innocent people for money and they still couldn't decide if they were guilty

    • @brandonjohnson633
      @brandonjohnson633 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      GatzMaximus Don’t forget the fact that their ”witness” list consisted of the President, his entire cabinet, and directors of the FBI, CIA and NSA. Or that they spent the whole trial randomly quoting lines from the Declaration of Independence as if it helped make their point. How the jury had trouble convicting them was beyond me.

    • @andrewclark7559
      @andrewclark7559 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish I knew the name of the episode you reference. I know there was an episode called Nullification where a bunch of white supremacists got a mistrial because they fucked with the jury's heads about the constitution. It's probably the same one. At the end Jack McCoy vowed that they'd never get away with it and he'd retry them as many times as he had to to get a conviction. Knowing McCoy he must've eventually sent them up the river.

      Don't be so hard on Kathleen. Sure she had packed on some pounds, but is still very attractive for a woman in her 50's. And considering she had undergone treatment for alcoholism just a couple of years before this appearance on Law & Order, I would say she is looking very good indeed.

    The adversarial system is flawed. A system of coming to the truth would be better.
    The truth ALWAYS lies in the middle. Seems to be stupid to try to swing it as harshly one way or the other.
    Just STUPID.

    • @jacoby-wan_kenobi
      @jacoby-wan_kenobi 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sorry, I stumbled to this vid because I was looking for full episodes. "The truth Always lies in the middle." Are you claiming that this statement is true? If so, it seems pretty polarized to claim something is *always* in the middle. Always is not the middle of a spectrum, rather an end of one, i.e. always and never.
      If you claim the truth is *always* in the middle, then the truth about your statement means the truth is actually *sometimes* in the middle. It is a self-defeating argument...
