      People have died from flu for as long as people have existed so it was aged milk before he even said it

    Simply the foremost dialogue from this great series. Kudos to the writer (s) for remembering a classic scene from a classic movie.

    one thing Mr. McCoy excels at are his speeches. he can guilt trip those who are guilty, and really make the jury think long and hard on their decisions. I think there was even an episode where some circumstances had the killer in his office but without enough evidence to convict. so Jack gives him one of his speeches and gets the guy so riled up that he looses it and confesses to the whole crime.

      @@obliviouz The defense council did object but the judge overruled him because it was an "analogy that's apt".

    great scene but a defendant will never ever agree to seeing a movie that will help a prosectors case lol

    • @Treblaine
      @Treblaine 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lying under oath won't just get you convicted or perjury, even if you're acquitted it can be declared a mistrial and be put on trial again. So if he lied about seeing the film they'd just have to prove that he had seen the film to get him and it's a risk you can't take thinking on the spot "how could they possibly prove if I saw the film or not".

    Great speech, but i think itg isn´t really applicable, because the the defendant very clearly does feel regret and guilt he does care about the little dots. From this scene he was genuine that he thought that no one would die from what he did.

    • @majesdane
      @majesdane  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The point is that he did something illegal for money and never even considered the negative affects of knowingly distributing ineffective medicine. Even if no one died, they still could have gotten sick, and that’s willfully causing harm to others. He was thinking only of himself and not of the cost to others.

    • @michi6486
      @michi6486 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@majesdane No i get that but the speech implied that the defendant didn´t care wether people die since they are just little dots, but from this clip it seems like the defendant didn´t think that far and didn´t believe anyone could die from the flu. The deaths were unintendent and he does feel regret and guilt towards the victims.
      I´m not saying he didn´t do anything wrong, but it doesn´t appear that he is cold hearted, cruel and remorseless.

    I don't care for the background music at all; I never have. Waterston and the other actors do not need it to sustain their performances.

    • @jackspicer4907
      @jackspicer4907 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pyagrl*16 the earlier seasons (with Michael Moriarity, Richard Brookes, Steven Hill) didn't have the music. It gave the episodes a really old-school feel, kind of like "12 Angry Men".

    • @TheMilwaukeeProtocol
      @TheMilwaukeeProtocol 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jack Spicer That's right! I really preferred that, because I felt the actors could create and hold the suspense, and the music didn't take away from that.

    • @codename617
      @codename617 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some of the best moments is when there is no music playing and the impact is in the words. Like when Schiff tells Stone and Robinette about all the witnesses who got killed in the end of the episode "Prince of Darkness" and mentions the girl being picked up by an uncle, to which Stone replies "She doesn't have an uncle." and Schiff looks up eyebrows raised and then it fades to the credits. The music would have ruined the scene.
