  • Here are the closing arguments of Randall Bailey's murder trial. ME Elizabeth Rodgers provided mistaken testimony. She wrote a letter to the judge indicating she made an error while on the stand. DA Arthur Branch didn't find it exculpatory and Jack McCoy insisted on providing this letter to the defense attorney and the judge. As a result, Jack was taken off the case and Connie Rubirosa provided closing arguments.

I love how she ends up stabbing the book exactly 13 times.

Straight out of the Jack McCoy playbook

I love that Connie took a leaf straight out of Jack's playbook and "demonstrated" the impact of the defendant's crime. Heck she even used the same side of the table to do so.

I noticed something different about the court officers. Also i liked that Jeromy Sisto pulled a Jerry Orbach here. Starring as a defense attorney before taking on a main role as a cop.

This was a homage to a case in Riverside California where a DDA banged on a law book with a hammer 11 times to show how hard and how many times a defendant bludgeoned a man to death in 1980.

Powerful closing statement by the lady DA. She hammered the last nail in the coffin for the defendant.

One of my favorite ones in L&O. I especially love how she actually stabbed the book 13 times like the defendant did with his murder.

It was interesting and very effective but can someone do something like that in the courtroom? Is it allowed to re-enact the scene like this?

"DA Arthur Branch didn't find it exculpatory and Jack McCoy insisted on providing this letter to the defense attorney and the judge. As a result, Jack was taken off the case and Connie Rubirosa provided closing arguments."
This is prosecutorial misconduct. And would mean a retrial on Appeal if it ever comes to light. The prosecution doesn't get to decide what evidence is or isn't exculpatory - that's a decision for the judge and the jury.

Amy Maton Two things I like about Rubirosa: 1. She tells it like it is, and 2. She calls 'em like she sees 'em. She's a firework!
