Just want to say that 3 years later this video is still inspiring people! I’ve used the OP-1 and now OP-1F for years and never would’ve thought to use the drum sampler from chopping like this, or using overdubbing to mix effects in on single textures like that. Incredibly clever and also the track itself is a banger
Ahh thank you so much! Appreciate you letting me know it’s helped. Given your history, you’re probably in the same boat as me atm… Just hanging out for that op-xy 😂
@ Ha yep, preordered on day one. Excited to see how it compliments the OP-1F, I think I’m going to keep both and get rid of some of my Elektron synths to focus.
@hudhawk02 uhhh I’m jealous! Looks amazing, OP-1’s are generally not very cooperative devices in my experience but the op-xy is a totally different workflow but the looks of things. I’d be interested to hear if there is a learning curve as an OP-1 user… good luck!
And these are the sort of comments that make me want to keep going, thanks Ben. Anything in particular you’d like to see next? How are you finding the OP-1 so far?
Awesome stuff! My OP-1 is on the way, I've been watching your sets and it's great to see someone really performing with it. Plus your sets are dancable as hell, serious groove. Very helpful to see how you come up with it.
Thanks for the workflow video. I like how you use the endless sequencer for the melody and bass. this will help me a lot in my approach. keep it up bro !
No problem man glad I could help. Endless sequencer is a great way to get your ideas down fast and for house music it means you can keep the mix tight. I use it a lot less for hip-hop though, prefer a more natural feel. Thanks for the support Brian!
Thanks and congrats! Make sure you update it right away if it’s not the most current firmware when it gets to you. Keen to hear what you come up with mate!
@@TheIsolatedGamerz both really. I generally start with a sample to create some chops. Then I’ll use a patch synth or create my own instrument using a sample. Remind me to show you the difference next time we chat.
I saw your performance and was like “I wish he would do a tutorial”. Came to your channel and found this ! Amazing , subscribed ! Thanks for being open to show your workflow Looking forward to your channel growing
Hey man, if you have a listen just before I start using the endless sequencer to make the bassline, you’ll hear me singing the bassline with 16th hi-hat notes in between - that’s the trick. You can set the sequencer to 1/8 or 1/4 to start with, which will make it easier to count. It’ll take a bit of practice if you’re not an instrumentalist, but it’s worth it.
This is by far my favorite how to do session on OP-1! Thank you for the inspiration!
Thanks for the feedback! Hope you make some sweet tunes 👊

As a new Op-1 user I find these the most helpful videos on youtube. Thanks mate.

Today I’m dusting off my OP1 and came right here for inspiration :D
Ahhh nice one man, looking forward to checking out what you come up with! Thanks heaps for checking out the vid 👊
The sequencer is always complained about. You’re just rockin it
Haha thanks again! The endless sequencer is great, but the step sequencer is very basic.
The way you use the endless sequencer to create those baselines is awesome! you make it look so simple and fast.
Hey, thanks! It’s easily the best OP-1 sequencer in my opinion. Gets ideas out fast.
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for checking it out man hope it helped!

Your live performance is awesome!
Thanks heaps Sam. Working on the third house set as we speak!
I like how you put delay on just one note!
Thanks, I’m usually not that committed haha 😂
👏
Thanks 4 watching Trang Phan, u single babe?
So good to understand the workflow man. You made it look effortless.
Thanks bro! Full disclosure: it took me longer than 6 minutes to do 🤣.
@@HoochMusic the trickeries of video production :)
Do you usually work with samples on op-1 or more usually patches?

Haha thanks heaps JR I’m glad it worked out! I appreciate your support. If there are any other videos on your wishlist please let me know.
Nice!
'Nice! Niiiice. Noice!' 😂
how do you transition the loop bracket so seamlessly?
Hey! Just Shift and Arrow key. Then drop a track or two out and use an effect to mesh the mix together a little.
How do you time your basslines on the endless sequence? Do you just kinda guesstimate or do you know exactly when and where each bass note goes?
