      If this is a dumb question, forgive me. Im new. I have Roboute Guilliman. It is a rather impressive model. If I paint Roboute and his forces chartreuse and not the nice blue, all other aspects of the force remaining equal, would this still be a playable Ultramarines force? If it helps these would be what are describedto me as "casual weekly games" at the game store. Im researching it but alot of sources seem to speak out of both sides of their mouth. "Let your imagination run wild and follow the guidelines". Is this something that might just come down to the person that you play or is the community flexible on colors? Thank you.

      I do like the way hes honest about what will happen eg he shows the brush strokes and bad coverage that can happen on a first coat that no one else seems to show/mention, however if you really want to replicate gws scheme exactly how it's done on the box art then try infernal brush, hes an ex studio painter. Although this guy will get similar just not quite exact results alot faster

Most ‘eavy metal tutorials are fantastic but there’s always something ever so subtly off from it. I’ve also been able to see eavy metal miniatures in person regularly as I live pretty close to Nottingham and I’ve spent literary hours looking at their space marines haha I think perhaps other people’s interpretation of eavy metal can fall short if you’ve not seen the actual miniatures

    awesome tutorial! I'm new to this hobby, and acrylic paints (this is what these are right?) Working on my first marine, and i hated how the box look. Im thinking i can make shading on watercolor (which is very hard to do), i can do it here!
    but i've been doing watercolor for years. And while i don't understand the reasons why you're doing something. I totally get it. like the "base" that's the first layer.
    You don't work from light to darker colors like in watercolor, you start with midtones, then add on top. Very cool! I've never wanted to try acylic paints, but this is my jam!

    Any tips on painting the weapon black? I try to get a nice coat on it, but cant seem to get it done right. I need to use multiple layers of black to get a nice coverage without seeing the blue. This takes for ages

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  ปีที่แล้ว

      you've kind of answered for me. if you want a nice finish, there is no getting around multple thin layers. its why talk about it in pretty much every video. This is especially true for Abaddon black because its very pigment heavy and needs to be thinned. remember you only have to paint these miniatures once and you may as well make them look as good as you can. its a matter of maybe an extra half hour over 10 marines so its worth it

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      once I'm finished, I'll use super glue to attach all the parts. you could use polycement but it could effect the paint work. you wouldn't have to mask off the areas, just scratch some of the paint away :)

    Great tutorial - the video quality is fantastic altogether! Ive started using contrast paints for panel recess shading - might be an option as it tends to darker recesses than washes.
    Aiming to do any other chapters?

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you very much. I really appreciate that. I thought about using contrast for this video, but I thought more people are gonna have nuln oil and just wanted to keep it basic. I’ll be doing other chapters. I recon I’ll redo my black Templar tutorial for the new release and do a proper job of it. I think for other chapters I may paint the relevant character to show more things rather than just a basic primaris all the time.

    How are you gluing the separate parts on after painting? Are you using super glue? Cant imagine plastic glue works after the paint is on!
    Do you also cover the sides that will have glue applied with anything before painting, e.g. blu tac or something? So the paint doesnt go where the glue needs to later?

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      you can use super glue wth no issues. if you want to use polycement then I reccomend scraping a little of the paint away from the contact surface. I do have a recent video about getting your miniatures ready for painting talking about it :D

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you do use a different set of skills to paint space marines. They are very satisfying to paint but Orks are far more fun to paint. if your trying to improve your painting then I would recommend just getting some space marines and painting them and try following what I do in this tutorial. you don't need to paint them for anything other than practice. I must of spent a good 6 months just painting space marines and I levelled up like Goku haha

    Definitely one of the best tutorials I've seen. I'm curious though, what topcoat /varnish do you use when finished? Is that in a separate video?

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. I don’t use any varnish once I’ve finished a miniature. Using a varnish isn’t really necessary with plastic miniatures and it tends to effect and change the finish you work so hard to achieve in the first place. It really dulls highlights and flattens everything

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  ปีที่แล้ว

      I just use the citadel brushes. make sure to have more than one brush. you can't expect 1 brush to do everything. Other than that the brush isn't as important as you think, just make sure to find some that your comfortable and happy with.

    Hi thank you for making this video, Ive been following along, and Im surprising myself with the results 😃, Ive done the blue base coat and shade, Im just confused on the gold detials, does the Liberator Gold cover the Retributor Armour on the eagle in its entierly, or is it meant to be painted in a way to allow some of the Retributor armour underneath to show through ?

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  ปีที่แล้ว

      Congratulations, glad your enjoying painting. The liberator gold is just painted on the raised details and areas. So leave the recesses dark still. It’s good to have those different tones and shades as well. See what you like. It’s all practice

    • @thh3439
      @thh3439 ปีที่แล้ว

      @TableTopReady thank you for getting back to me, I actually ended up applying a whole coat of liberator, and post wash, still looked great! I finished by highlighting with liberator, but thinking about putting some storm host in the corners of the shoulder panels too 🤔 .
      But thank once again for the video and reply, its been an invaluable resource for me

    When painting in subsections, what do you use to stick the part to the holder?
    I've been using toothpicks, Citadel glue and a drill so far (for the starter kits) but after buying a proper set i have noticed that there is no place to drill the parts easily.

    • @TableTopReadyYoutube
      @TableTopReadyYoutube  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a dedicated video for getting miniatures ready for painting where I go into those details. Recently I’ve started to cut off bits of sprue and super glue that first of all to the block. This creates kind of a stand which I blu tac the part to. I may talk about this in my next tutorial as it is useful to know

      When I’m building and glueing any miniature I always like to think if I could leave some parts not glued to make it easier to paint. So it’s a case that I don’t attach these parts in the first place. Once I’ve finished painting all the different pieces I will attach them to the miniature with super glue. I’ve had a lot of people asking recently so I will be working on making a tutorial for this very soon 😁
