I think Henry started off as a very young angry, man, (like a lot of us) and he found a way to channel his anger, through his music, and later his spoken word in a very positive way. He has done his best to make the world a better place with his uplifting message.

In spite of what Kathleen said, a quality mic and cable will be silent when moved around (I know from years of experience) but whatever reason he does this, it is now conditioned into him, it's an ingrained habit. Being onstage for most people has a certain degree of feeling exposed, so we go with what is comfortable, as it makes being onstage easier.

@@magicsinglez He made someone (probably more than just one) realize something or think about the issue from a different perspective or think about it for the first time ever. From that thought some will have their curiosity piqued and will go research more about how to change things. To think that quote would incentivize someone to become pro war shows your ignorance of how the human mind works (I hope you don't take that as an insult). You're basically saying people will start wars because that's easier but their aren't only two options, it would be even easier to simply do neither.

Nice comment. May we eliminate this narcissistic need to fully agree with others (aka project) or cancel them, and still keep the mind open to find beauty outside of our convictions, and connect those damn dots. In the end, it's you and your own puzzle, me and me, etc, like what Rollins said about individuality. There's actually something dangerous in the need to agree 100% with someone, perhaps it is a key element that opens the way to bigotry and tyranny.

I love listening to Henry talk. I was into Black Flag (when Ron sang) even before Henry. I'm so glad he continues to speak. He, like me, is still punk rock in his heart. At our age, punk rock isn't playing old punk songs. It is, not becoming a sheeple, a blind follower of someone else's rules. It's blazing your own trail, even when the powers that be, tell you not to. You do what you believe in even if it's not popular. You make your own judgements based on your own observations, not others. Doesn't sound like much. When your younger, many people want to be individuals and sticking to your guns is part of being young. When you reach middle age, you've seen that following the heard and keeping your head down is a way to live, simple, quietly. Making waves can only lead to trouble. Henry takes the punk attitude we had at 14 and let it mature with him. As punk kids, we knew the system was corrupt so we wanted to destroy it, leaving anarchy. As mature punks, we know the system is broken. But we should try to fix it instead of being passive. It's much easier to remain passive and silent and be part of the flock. Mature punks don't die their hair blue to distance themselves from the flock. They speak out about injustices. They do what they know is right, even when it's unpopular. They don't need to be fake so people will like them. They become part of the solution, even when it's an unpopular solution. They stay true to themselves. The Dali Lama, who knows labels are for jars not people, would be a great example of a mature punk. Henry, thanks for showing us, at this point/age in life we can still live bravely. We can still stand on our own feet and ideals and at the same time be a positive force of nature. Thanks for decades of inspiration and reminding me I'm not alone.

Rollins does a long pause and then looks at my brother in the eyes and says...."""Sometimes you just have to go for it...just do it....never back down..ever///""">>>and the other day in a recent interview Henery Rollins repeated almost the same speech ......I was shocked....I always thought my brother was drunk.....but in the end Henry Rollins is the Man.....and sometimes you just got to do it!!!!!!!.

I think when it comes down to just being a good person, Henry Rollins is
my favorite celebrity. He couldn't care less about the fame and the
money, but rather uses that to help people, travel the world, and just
meet new people from all walks of life and learn about them. That's a
man who is utilizing his full potential with the short time we are all
given on this little planet. Truly badass. And as I've been getting
older, I admire people like that more and more. He has more of a voice
than most of us and he damn well uses it to inspire us to be our best
selves. I don't know, it just seems like in an age where all I really
observe anymore (especially among my college-age peers) is just a sea of
people glued to their screens and being robots, I feel more of an urge
to go make these human connections like he does.

I love Rollins. He's got to be the most honestly patriotic person I've ever seen who actually knows what he's talking about. This guy only has a high school education. But the what I loved about this lecture or whatever it is is that in Cuba he got on the "short bus." What's even funnier is that no one in the audience laughed. I'm still laughing about that. Because he paused before saying short bus. No one got the quip. That's hysterical.

Henry is la 'celebrity' who never got big-headed that he could 'save' the world, aiming too high.

      "Comrade Fidel" ?
Really? Is he completely ignorant of the conditions in Cuba before Castro took control? Try calling him comrade to the people who are fleeing on boats made out of palm tree branches. Go down to Fl and refer to Castro as Comrade Fidel. Asshole!
He's going to call Fidel Castro Comrade but he bad mouths Reagan?
There's a reason that he gives these retarded talks at Colleges speaking to college students.

I just LOVED THIS so much! I've always wanted to travel to Cuba! A coffee loving photographer's Paradise! I did 6 cross country trips, I didn't really have $$$ for international travel. I had a BLAST! I wanted to see this country I'd spent so much time writing reports on without ever having been. The minute I was out of boarding school, I moved out, got a job for a few months.. ehhh .. not for me. I got offered an opportunity to travel and see everything ( ALMOST everything) I wish I had taken more pics, but I was too busy living it. I so wish people could understand, the more you travel, the more you realize people mostly want the same things out of life. But OH MY GOSH, the food you'll eat, the colors you'll see, the music you'll hear, the stories about the history and landmarks you'll hear.... Just amazing people!
I know my generation was a little willy nilly about being sponsors for people, kids just like us, that just wanted to come over to America and experience everything they could. We couldn't WAIT to meet them, and take them everywhere. I am slightly envious only of all the places Henry has been able to travel, it's fantastic! Shirley MacClaine is another one, I just love hearing all of her travels. The people she meets, the different customs, the sights. She has such a gift with words. I wish she had made more movies about all her travels. OUT ON A LIMB was fabulous!
Henry has got it right, our politicians have all this stupid pomp and circumstance, all these idiotic rules and regulations on foreign policy, NO WONDER everybody is on edge at these meetings and no country trusts another country! It's just ridiculous! I've found meeting people from other countries has taught me so much about places I can only dream of! I wouldn't trade it for all the tea in China. I would LOVE to trade some music and some food out to people from somewhere I've never been and never heard of, and let them send me THEIR versions.
WHAT A STELLAR SPEAKER for these students! Such an enjoyable hour and some minutes well spent. 🤗 WORLD I SEND YOU A BIG HUG!💕
