    I met Henry , in 2000. I could go the way of saying "he's an asshole..." too, but I don't think that's it. I like what JamesTKirkCobain up above said. I think that's part of it. Henry has said it a million tmes in the past, he has no taste for fan adulation and I say kudos to him. He is a man not ruled by pretense. He means what he says and says what he means. I can see where you'd think he's an asshole, but I think Henry is a man worthy of a closer look, unlike so many fakes out there.

    To me he is a guy ruled by fear and he would probably be the first to admit to that. There is a lot of people like that. It's the reason why he never married and why he constantly works. Relax is not in this guys vocabulary. I think he is incredibly smart but what happens in an abusive upbringing is the brain forms not quite right, and it is incredibly hard if not impossible to do so.

      You gotta remember, too, that Henry wasn’t brought up from an affluent background. Guy worked his entire adult life in dead-end service industry jobs. He didn’t have the luxury of music producer family members or wealthy parents who could keep throwing money at his passion products until they finally caught fire. Even now that he can safely retire financially solvent for the rest of his life, he still makes quips about how often he puts himself out for speaking events, film roles, etc. because a paycheck is a paycheck.
      I think a lot of that work ethic he puts out, not just in the industry but in his daily life (staying fit, well-read, etc.) spawns from the realization that someone in his position only has to do just enough wrong to fall from grace. You have to stay sharp and relevant because if you leave yourself out to rust then that’s that.

And now rock is dead, no new Doors, Pistols, Nirvana, coming. But doesn't really care too much what you think. Would love for him to reform the Rollins Band. Saw them 92 on The end Of Silence at Newcastle Riverside. while G & R were playing Gateshead stadium, Hell I missed Soundgarden, wasn't bothered abour Faith No More, but at least I got to see The Beastie Boys. Idk, a quick google search could answer that for you really quick. But I guess you want all your answers spoon fed from me. I believe that’s why he speaks to so many people, myself included. a lot of folks get so down in life they get into drugs, or sex or other Vice or bad behavior. Henry, to me anyways, shows you can be all of those troubled things in life, and not go into drugs or vice and still come out on top. That if you’re a person who CANT deal with your own past, these are some steps to take to just live as close as you can to normal, by your own terms. And that instead of feeling like trash that you can’t relate to people, or that you don’t have family, etc- there’s still strength there, you don’t have to be some loner who just watches crime shows and hides from the world.

It's a completely alien concept for someone like me....young people with no energy. Just cool guy posturing or something.

    Man it's crazy how he said his ADHD medication didn't help him. ADHD meds (Adderall) have been a godsend for me. They keep me skinny and help me concentrate. Don't see how anyone could hate that.

    • @stephania4940
      @stephania4940 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Simonne you don’t feel any negatives to the meds? And I think it’s very different for boys medicated with Ritalin from a worryingly young age when they just needed more attention.

    • @4dhumaninstrumentality789
      @4dhumaninstrumentality789 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Boys don’t need Ritalin, they need the freedom to actually be boys. I don’t mean to sound condescending at all and it’s great that your medication has worked out well for you. Personally as a grown man I realized that all of the people who were so called looking out for my best interest by medicating me were simply trying to figure out how to deal with me.

    • @laughingtothebanklikehahah3618
      @laughingtothebanklikehahah3618 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate ADHD medication now because I’m mature and actually see it as a benefit to school and my job. As a kid I hated it because I was too young to be that focused on something. Doctors also give children a HIGH ass dose of medication because they think that the kids have a high tolerance for it when really…. They are just fucking kids lol. Right now I’m taking 30 mg of vyvanse but took 2 30 mg of Ritalin as a kid, so imagine how that felt especially for a young boy.

      He still is. He just got really good at masking for a long time. His book, Sic, from 2022 is the most depressing and solitary piece of work he’s put out. About 1/4 of the book is about Joe and how he deals with it to this day.

    • @itsMrNoble
      @itsMrNoble 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@yoshewab1639 I haven’t read that but I can imagine. He does certainly seems less openly hostile and angry and a bit more compassionate in the interviews I’ve seen and heard in the last decade or so. I’d imagine that’s just a byproduct of getting older. I don’t know Henry and I don’t think I want to either but he seems to have turned his existence into a bit of a prison of his own making that no one can get into and he can’t get out of. No family, no friends. Doesn’t seem like a lot of fun.

    Henry has changed a lot since then. All the things he said he hated about people, he has saddly become. In this 1995 interview we see a real HONEST Henry. Today Henry is on talk shows with his FAKE SMILE and FAKE LAUGH and acting interested in what people have to say, when we know he's not really interested. Did he sell out? Yes, in around 2006. He's also probably lost about 50-60 pounds.
