    According to Panasonic's Sean Robinson, Sigma is just as native as Lumix and Leica.
    Differences in AF-performance are not coming from the name of the l-mount partner but from the lens construction itself.

    I don't get why the Pana 24-70 doesn't have OIS while the 70-200 has it.
    I feel like they need to match them more to the MFT 12-35 and 35-100.
    No idea if the physics have maxed out but if there is room for improvement I'd love a mark 2 of these 2.

    Many autofocus systems can struggle in severe backlit situations, I've even seen it happen in Sony occasionally (see the Northrups' review of the A7C for example). I'm guessing most people would find the Sigma perfectly acceptable in properly lit scenes. Both lenses might do significantly better when shooting a profile other than V-log too, given past history. Overall, though, I'm finding it hard to draw any real conclusions on this comparison as the video looks strangely underexposed throughout - where you shooting at dusk?

    A couple things I noticed regarding the Sigma:
    1. I think this was addressed by the company, but the first ones that were shipped gathered dust inside the lens elements pretty fast. Like, within a month or two of use, even in a studio setting. I got mine used, and it was one of those units, I've been told. I took out the front element and cleaned it thoroughly, but after only a couple months later it was dusty again :( I eventually just accepted it, it didn't really affect the contrast at all (plus, I had a diffusion filter on it 90% of the time anyway). Just a tad annoying.
    2. Maybe I'm being picky, but it was pretty loud when trying to focus. It might be a common thing with these bigger zoom lenses, though (I wouldn't know, I've only ever used primes prior to the Sigma).
    Still loved it, though. Had it for a year, but had to sell it last week. I might pick it up again sometime in the future. Definitely over the Lumix, at least for the price, if not for anything else.

      @AlexEatsPlants 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bikramjeet7385 honestly, reading back my comment, I made it seem like a bigger deal than it was. Yeah, it built up a couple specks of dust over time, but, like I said, it didn't affect image quality. And it's not that hard to take apart the front element every few months, if you feel like it. I got mine used as well, so I wasn't too worried about voiding the warranty. As for how to tell them apart, you'd have to check the serial number. I'd have to google it, but Sigma recalled units from a certain number.

    The Lumix 24-70 has one HUGE advantage over the Sigma that you missed! The Sigma aperture star-steps as it opens and closes. It "jolts" in 1/2 or 1/3 stop landings. This is terrible for auto aperture in video....like using on a gimbal. I dont know who is crippling this on Sigma lenese on L mount. • @waveland
    @waveland ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The clutch thing is overrated and out of date in this day and age, especially for video shooters who use long-throw (270 degrees or more) linear focus settings in camera. I also rely on linear focus for still life closeups where I want to dial in a very precise point of focus in the composition. I will not buy a lens any more which is incompatible. I do agree about internal zoom as a must. I think the Sigma 28-70 is as close as you can get. I don’t believe anyone makes a 24-70 without an extending barrel. For now I will get by with the f1.8 primes and wait to see what comes next. I don’t work events, so I generally have time to plan shots and switch lenses, or move my feet as required. I realize that’s not the case for many. As a Nikon stills shooter though, I’m not impressed with the Lumix “pro” lineup. Panasonic owes us some updates. But on the flip side I’m really not impressed with the Nikon video feature set, so Lumix it is. And if Sigma can keeps rolling out amazing glass like the 14mm f1.4 announced today I may yet come settle on the S5IIx (and a next gen S1) as my hybrid cameras of choice. Time will tell.

    We've had the Lumix 24-70 for some years now. The overall quality is indeed amazing.
    HOWEVER: for filmmaking, you should be aware that manual focusing is not smooth. You will be seeing "stepping". which is very noticeable on the longer side of the focal length. It will render the footage unusable.
    This is a huge bummer. Panasonic praises the stepless motors inside this lens but they could not manage to assure that manual focusing stays smooth as well.
    We've found a workaround that seems to reduce the issue a little bit: instead of pulling the focus clutch to manual, we leave it on autofocus and switch to manual on our camera.

If you're really concerned with the best possible image quality, you're probably using a prime lens anyway.
