- In this video, we will be exploring my experience with the Panasonic Lumix S5IIX after one year of use.
The Lumix S5IIX has the new autofocus system that has made creating a joy again. We cover the autofocus, the 10 bit color and its low light capabilities.

I have a S5IIx from last December (6 months now) and I´m extremelly happy with it. For video and photo too.
So happy to hear that! It’s all around a great camera
It was pretty damn fast - four and a half minutes, but thanks for your opinion! And now we're waiting for May 23 for compact Lumix camera for travel photo/video and social media content! Thx again
I’m not the type of guy to fill my videos with fluff man! I love straight to the point 🤣 can’t wait to see what that camera is!!
@@cesarlorca_ and appreciate you for it. Brevity is the sister of talent
@@cesarlorca_I have read that there is no moiré in 4k. Is it thrue?
During NAB I got s5iix and 35,50,85mm f/1.8 for ~2500 with tax. So psyched to have such a capable tool
Man, what a STEAL!!!!
Wow, congrats on a deal man!
This is Goin to be a good video. I can tell by the intro. Straight to the point! Love it.
Thanks Ryan! Not a fan of the fluff in videos so youll always get straight to the point around here!
I love my LUMIX S5ii. Even though I never used the autofocus until now.
I’ve been using it a ton cause we actually have it now hahah my gh5 was my manual focus boot camp 🤣
Incredible video, and fantastic clips and videos! Very impressed with your work
Thank you so much!
Mean brotha!!! Keep it up!
Thanks! Will do bro!
Tbh, I’m so jealous of the people you’ve been able to shoot with!! Great video though. I really appreciate the long term reviews
I’ve been blessed with a lot of incredible people throughout my career man! That’s something I’ll never take for granted.
Thank you for watching bro!
i owned the s5 ii and s5 ii x, they are a very great tool for a one man band production
Most definitely! It’s so easy to rig too without it getting too heavy
@@cesarlorca_ i wish lumix release more lenses option like sony, because getting the s pro lenses are pain in the wallet
absolutely love my s5ii
I know lumix is doing something right when I read these comments!
Thanks for the shout out, I noticed some moire on some shoots I did recently too. A screen door, pillow and a shirt. Not the worst Moire I've ever seen but still. No camera is perfect
couldnt have said it better! No camera is perfect!
yes same here
I cant find one video on youtube about S5IIx live straming capability on the ease of setup, wired ethernet throught usb adapter, bit rate, color depth etc.
Thank you for the amazing information and insight. On another note, what settings and camera did you use for this video?
Would love an in-depth video on how you use the s5ii for video & photography with settings!
Noted!
Talk that shit! The s5ii's are incredible, especially if you know what you're doing.
Im gonna talk my ish!! Love this camera bro
You mentioned rolling shutter when you do your fitness content. How do you limit this in your workflow?
Thank you for the video
You should make a tips & tricks lumix s5 iix video 😉
Noted! 👀
Love the video! Ik you've used Blackmagic Cameras too, do you miss BRAW when it comes to grading? or would you say what this camera gives out is enough?
Thanks! If I'm being honest I hardly ever used the RAW so its definitely more than enough
I've stayed with the S1 so far.. love the idea of the S5IIX but I would really wait for Lumix to bring out a model with 4K 120P without crop before upgrading. The features on the S5 II X are, of course, incredible. And if I didn't have the S1 it would have been the easy choice. But for now... I'll wait
thanks for the video. Unfortunately the bad rolling shutter is a no go for me.
I know man it’s super important
Love my S5II, I also love and continue to own my S5. The GH5, S5 cameras both helped me to perfect manual focus pulls, now I can rock Cine an Anamorphic lenses so easily. Yes, the PDAF is absolutely fantastic, especially post v 3.0 firmware, but most of my professional lenses are MF.
I’ve always joked around that the GH5 is manual focus boot camp haha. But thanks to that running cine glass and anamorphic is a breeze like you said!
I just invested in my first set of cine lenses and pulling focus still feels great especially cause lumix has so many great focus tools in these bodies. We are spoiled hahaha
When I want the best video quality, I always take the S5 or S1. The S5II is really when I need good AF.
Concerning Rolling Shutter, what cameras do significantly better for your work? I guess that crop sensor systems should have advantages here, right?
I love my S5ii
Hell yeah
have they added better slow-mo? What's the lens selection like?
I came from the background of iphone and i already use this camera indoor only, but when i tried to use it outside, the stability was not like the iphone and the colors are close ! I what lut do you recommend?
Yes low light with fast lens, beast
Love it!
I love my s5iix. I do not enjoy using the 20-60mm lumix lens though. Sigma lenses pair much better. Will look into denhancer thanks!
I hear you on that! The 20-60 isn’t my favorite either.
A sigma 35 on this is so good 🥵
I’m not gonna lie Dehancer isn’t cheap man so try the two week trial first!
How do you connect Panasonic S5 ii to Atomos Ninja V
Is the image quality the same between the s5ii and s5iix?
For photo S5 is excellent and S5ii is beyond. We just need a few more lenses.
What kind of lenses would you want? I use primes a lot
@@cesarlorca_ 16-35 2.8. 28-200 2.8-5.6 like the Tamron for the E mount. The 28-200 that they are releasing is a joke with that aperture.
I had this camera and with the new firmware was very good Af
It’s nuts right?
@@cesarlorca_ I also have the R5 which I personally think has the best AF. This is about 85 percent to that maybe more. I even think it’s better than Sony and I’ll tell you why the Sony seems a little bit more sticky but many times you get the eyelashes or the eyebrow with the Lumix you always get right in the middle of the eyeball. 👁️ It’s just a little slower than the R5. Also this is after the latest firmware before wasn’t as good as this.
That’s crazy to hear because both canon and Sony have been known for their autofocus
I think we are definitely going to see LUMIX making larger strides! Did you see that they just signed to have ARRI Log in their cameras ?!
What lenses do you usually use for your work? If you ever work with 4k60, any recommendations on lenses to use with the crop factor?
90 percent of the time on a 35mm! Im going to be 100% honest I hardly ever shoot in slo mo but when I do I use the Lumix 24-70 so i can compensate for the crop!
Been contemplating getting a Linux for a minute 🥵
now's the time bro!
Considering switching from canon for this little best. How is the 60fps crop, that’s the only thing holding me back! Can you shoot 24fps in super 35 mode? The crop doesn’t bother me, it’s the changing framing when switching back and forth between normal and slow motion.
Yes you can choose to use aps-c (s35) for sensor size in 4k 24p if that's what you mean
@@Passion_Video_and_Photo Yeah that what I mean, thanks for confirming! Are all the usual codecs available in s35 mode?
what about the hdmi latency. i am sure you use a external monitro right? because lumix latency was also huge compared to sony or BM. what do you think about that?
second doy ou turn the ibis off when shooting sport content for the more shaky look?
I exclusively shoot with a monitor on top for the false color but honestly the latency has never been an issue when I’m shooting
I did find a trick online that if you turn off the audio going into the monitor it reduces the latency a bit
And I do! I have ibis on my custom settings so I turn it off and on depending on what’s going on to fit the shoot!
@@cesarlorca_ yeah i know the trick but for manual focus it does seem to me always a bit slow.
Dang, I thought that would help
@@cesarlorca_ nah thanks either way ^^
for your sports videos, what camera do you use?
I used the s5iix for the majority of my work bro but the one shot that wasn’t LUMIX was a RED monstro
I just got my s5ii. I’m hoping to make some good content with it
Man, Youre gonna love it
@@cesarlorca_ I do have 1 question. How do you expose VLOG? do you expose to your face using luminance spot meter or just the entire image 1 stop over?
@@d2kinu874 I always use false color on my external monitor! But when I don’t have it I usually go a half stop over but I think you could get away with 1 stop over just make sure you don’t clip your highlights!
@@cesarlorca_ thanks
I don’t see your dehancer video, which one is that?
Thanks for this man! I forgot to tag it in the video but here is a direct link th-cam.com/video/T8B5b8SdCeY/w-d-xo.html
Me rewatching the video 10 times trying to figure out what moire is but failing to see it.
can you shoot open gate 6k with v90 SD cards? i understand it does external recording but no way I'm gonna record on to monitor or external ssd.
Of course.
Yeah you can!
@@cesarlorca_ what is the bitrate? is it 422?
The 6K is 10 bit 4:2:0
@@kemalettinsrt 200 Mbps
Great video.
Once in s35 mode 4k50 the rolling shutter becomes so much less. So even for sports handheld you can use this camera. you just need a wide s35 lens like the sigma 10-18, and use your FF lenses cropped in after that (24mm turning into a 35) …
Your images look amazing. Great contrast and colors, I love how you aim for radical shots. You edit on resolve ? Never been tempted to shoot braw?
Would love to hear about your lens selection too
more looks like review from a beginner not from a who have ben using this camera for 1 year.
looool this is hilarious
