    Not sure how I missed this video? But I have to say, it was super interesting to see the difference in hooves between the cows and bulls on a farm, and those out in nature.
    I never, in a million years thought I would become obsessed with cows hooves! lol I am a 54 year old woman that has spent my whole life in Metro Detroit, U.S.A. And have never even seen a cow in person! But I LOVE your videos!!
    I love the way you guys get along, and make work fun, and I really love the way you care for the animals! Its obvious that, while hoof trimming is your job, It is also your calling! You are a natural with the animals, and your care for them truly shows!!
    Thanks for sharing!! Love from the U.S. ❤❤

    Raising beef cattle on a cow and calf operation in a more arid area, we really didn’t see these types of problems. It is interesting to see how a wetter climate affects them.

      As an Aussie, my experience is probably between yours and thus farm. We have muddy grassy regions but even our mud tends to be course and gritty instead of loamy. And of course we have a decent amount of granite. Then the dry red regions are largely iron rich dry sun-baked clay.

    Where I grew up in Idaho, there were a lot of free range cattle that wandered about and were gathered in (by helicopter in some instances) basically just once a year. Sage brush, lava rocks, hills, coyotes, wolves, miles and miles to roam. It would be cool (but really hard) to see and compare their hooves.

      Tried reading on google, but for humans, dermatitis isn't contagious.
      All his digital dermatitis vids use salicylic acid powder and/or iodine wash so I guess that helps with preventing infection, since only open wounds are at risk of serious infection and if the trim didn't reach wounded parts, then infection wouldn't pierce through hoof keratin.

      @@Cent4man It's usually only a few days or a week or so, so only a small portion of the summer is that hot, and we definitely whine when it does get up there LOL I think you'd be more humid there, it's more dry heat here, I don't do well in humidity. Vietnam damn near killed me, was like a sauna.

    • @Cent4man
      @Cent4man 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@blahkjboubblah9856 Humidity varies here. In the summer it can get as high as 80% but, in the fall and Winter it's fairly dry. I grew up in South East Texas, it was normal for us to have temperatures in the triple digits, as high as 110 on rare occasions and it was also common to have humidity of 100% and not have I cloud in the sky or a drop of rain. South East Texas is miserable.

      @loupgarou95 3 ปีที่แล้ว +65

      @@stewartritchie2516 Exactly what he's said. Dairy cow's feet are often covered in a mix of liquid doodoo and mud from walking and standing inside where it builds up and it's hard to keep it rinsed clean all the time. Cattle that live on pasture aren't usually standing in wet ground. Although they obviously do get muddy it's not so gross and poopy.

    • @marlenekutcher938
      @marlenekutcher938 3 ปีที่แล้ว +54

      It's normal for cows to have loose poo. If they did not I would be concerned. They eat a very, very high fibre diet and are vegetarian. Not much room in the crush. If they were outside you would not notice. Farm life is just that way .
