I rescued a little cornsnake that was found straying on the street local to me, Dave (near Glasgow 🏴). I kept him a couple of weeks in a temporary enclosure. I contacted the SSPCA and local police and now he's officially mines, 😍 I bought him a new viv and full set up. Bought myself a glue gun and some fake leaves to make decor for his new home, I didn't realise how good spraying the glue works, but my goodness, it works an absolute treat! Thanks for the tip! And yes, I may have gotten some of the damn stuff on my fingers, lol 😂x
I only own a dog & cat. Spiders are not my thing. But, I find them so beautiful in appearance & their ability to make webs. Dave, I have such respect for your channel for treating your spiders with the respect, care, & love they deserve. Thanks for being informative & sharing with all of us. Your beasties really are beautiful!
You two as human beings are examples of wellfair well being, kindness, wiseness, respect for the living, thanks to you i'm healing my fear, for years now, of spiders. Long live to you and this chanel.
What a beautiful girl she is. It’s so interesting to hear about their lifespan, behaviours and medical significance. I have seen videos of these being handled and I didn’t know how serious and long lasting a bite from one of these could be until you said here. You are so respectful, knowledgable and caring. I’m sure she’ll love her new home! Thank you Dave and camera lady for another wonderful video. ☺️❤️
I have 2x gooty sapphire ornamental tarantula myself there gorgeous and so pretty to keep great pics and they don't care about the lights i use i know people say there sensitive to light but i never had a issue yeah
Oh my she is just gorgeous !!. I could never understand why ppl let those medical significant spiders crawl all over them etc. Brilliant job from both you and camera lady
I'll say this again, P. metallica was the species who told me I must learn to not be creeped out by spiders. After watching many Beastie, and other videos, I can now be enthusiastic about spider-kind 😊
My Metallica also sunbathes like this. 90% of the time when I go into the room, she’s out on display. The thing is though, any time there’s even the smallest vibration, she runs back into her den. I think they’re sensitive to vibration, not light. Amazing display species
Same for mine. She took a while to get used to her enclosure as I got her but after that shes always outside. Most of the time at the entrance of her hide. But if I dare to open the door to mosture the enclosure she runs back in a blink of an eye
the information you give and the education on the spiders PROFF is quality and with a purpose to help the hobby. i am with you that why do people hold and run spiders across their body. great footage CAMERA LADY. take care guys and many thanks--PS see you at BRISTOL

Another beautiful spider!! You really are amazing!! I kept expecting a bolt. So cool how you almost know exactly what they’re thinking! Excellent shots camera lady!!!❤
If enjoyed it ? lol This one is and seems like will remain the ❤ of my life. For my eyes this is the most beautiful spider in the world 😍 I like all Pokies, but this one is like a love at first sight. Thanks for the vid guys🙏
Hey Dave, another great video. Really hope you’re still planning on doing a video on Tarantula longevity / lifespan. I was really looking forward to that one when you mentioned it a few videos ago. You’re a trusted source, and I would really like to hear your opinion on the topic. P.S I hope when you get the new Beastie Room up and running we get to see the Dave’s Beastie neon sign back in the background 👍 Be Calm Be Gentle And Love Your Spider(s)
I really enjoy these rehousing and care videos. Dave you have so much valuable information. Great shots of her too Camera Lady. You are so good at making sure we get the best possible look at the spiders. Thank you both for taking the time to share the hobby and help us get the best possible information so that we may have a thriving beastie room of our own!!!
Hey Dave & Camera Lady! Thanks for the upload! My P metallica is a very calm spider, too. Probably half grown atm (~8cm DLS). After 10-15 days of the enclosure being placed in the same (bright) spot, she's now settled and doesn't care about torchlight from the phone when I want to have a peep at her. Or I can move her enclosure (for feeding or maintenance) without her racing about. :) My first OW, and no regret at all! Cheers guys, keep it up! 🤟
Such a pretty girl with lovely marking! I appreciate your comments about not handling the spiders. I’ve seen some that do and it seems they are in a hurry or not thinking ahead.
Well this was just perfect timing, I am rehousing my female Metallica on the weekend. She is in a top opening enclosure and it’s not ideal for maintenance so we will be rehousing her into an exo Terra. I’ve done a few rehousings now and all have gone very well but honestly I have been a little nervous about this one just because I have to get her out through the top. I didn’t want to use a catch tub as it’s a little more awkward through the top sometimes so was planning to transfer the cork as you did here. Feeling much more confident now after watching this. Also I have three bags of beastie mix 😁 waiting to go into enclosures that I collected a couple of weeks ago. It really does look like a great substrate and can’t wait to use it.
I sure love the pokies Dave! The P Metallica is my favorite but, they are all beautiful in their own way. Looking forward to your new room Dave. Can't wait ❤❤❤❤❤😊
I guess you know your girl Dave. I myself wouldnt dare sticking my hand in a poeci's enclosure. But if with any Poeci's id understand it best with Metallica. Mine was so Docile and easy. Compare it to my Regalis and i almost need Heavy Armour to rehouse that DEMON 😆😆😆
Well if it isn’t my favourite tarantula species from my favourite content creator. Now this will be a treat! Don’t forget to like & subscribe guys! Let’s get Dave to 100K this year!
Ah, such a pretty one❤You've made a good speech about handling venomous Animals, but I fear some People will never learn...unless they get bitten. And than it's all the fault of that naughty and agressive Animal😔
I love your rehousing you always make the enclosures look clean and fresh! I think the Pokies are beautiful but I don’t think I will ever keep them, and now I don’t have to because I get to go on your channel and watch you keeping them! Is it ok if I message you on TH-cam? How many spiders do you have now? I love your videos I always look forward to a Monday and Thursday you make my day! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Fantastic advice about NOT handling these creatures. When I talk to people about re-housing or similar activities I always say "moving" them rather than "handling" them to avoid any confusion. Also, use WD40 to get that tape residue off once you've got the plastic layer away.
Hi Dave seen u at the show in Thornbury 2022 with my mate. Will be bringing the kids on Sunday hopefully meet u. Stu from bridgend south wales. Kids will be Violet and ioan
what a wunderfull coloured spider, I have 3 of these now, the oldest one with fading coulours. Is it common for older spiders to lose the colours, I remember you telling the same thing happens to the Birupes simoroxygorum, I have quite a few blue coloured spiders like the birupes, lividus, electric blue, sazimai etc. its a bit dissapointing that they lose the colours when they get older if so.
My P. vittata is only out during the night hours, but she doesn't shy away from light, not even the flashlight from my phone. Not that I put that on her on a regular basis, of course, but I definitely noticed that it's not as light sensitive as I often heard they are!
Thank you for talking me out of buying an old world tarantula. I was considering an OBT but changed my mind after I heard you say " rest of your life pain after a bite" No thanks! I think I will stick to a grammastola pulchripes. Slow docile and if you get bit so what. Wash it with soap and water and move on. I had no idea a bite can cause lifetime problems for a keeper of pokies.
Any bite from any venomous creature can cause ongoing pain and discomfort from the bite wound no matter what it was that you was bitten by? I would not discount keeping anything , if your careful and considerate theres no reason why you should ever get bitten 👍
I saw a video from a large tarantula channel, where three guys were picking up the spider having it crawl on their arm the spider flying off onto the table and them lauging about it - I was like, whats so funny? It's plain reckless.
I tried the clay ball thing with my Brachypelma emilia, but she hated them, and dug them all up.😂 She is quite the crafty spider. As we speak, she has just made sort-of a sculpture out of the potting peat, that is her substrate.

Hey Dave I’m wondering if your pokies are only living 9 or so years is because of the temps they’re kept at. I know a guy with a 16 year old Poecilotheria regalis I’m wondering if keeping them cooler not cold slows down the growth rate allowing for them to out live ones who’ve lived in 80+ degrees.

I have a question hello Dave quick question is there a benefit to placing the water tray on top for the aerboreal species compared to leaving the dish on the substrate ?

I don't use Facebook. I have heard arachnoboards is an option, but if someone could suggest where to go and maybe post a link that would be great. ❤

@shsd7579 I've never had a problem myself. Like you said the clay balls just make it easier
The clay balls help in giving more room for mistakes in over watering and yes they will help with humidity as would a deep substrate 👍
Does the gel sold for pot plants to retain water work with spiders .
