    Sometimes I like to imagine what the cows are thinking while they are in the crush. Like imagine going through your day, your foot hurts cause you banged it something, but hey such is life. Then, you get picked up by a big machine and your feet start moving. Then your like “Ow my foot” for a second and then it immediately feels better. Then when you start walking again, you can walk properly. I imagine if cows were capable of speech, they would be thanking you guys all the time❤️

      I think maybe it's like some sea turtles that come in to the reef where certain fishes groom them. They get something out of it by eating the parasites. I think cows have a bit of understanding that it's beneficial, they just probably want to be out after so many minutes.

    Grahame, I want to thank you.
    I found you by accident when putting my then 8yo son to bed (he is 10 now). We watch YT together every night until he falls asleep & one of your videos popped up in my recommended. He insisted on watching even though you don’t fall within the genre of content we consume together.
    Not only is your channel educational, but you’re an amazing role model. My sons dad (ex husband) is not in the picture so through watching you he has witnessed an adult male demonstrate that so long as one loves what he does, is passionate about their work and profession, a job doesn’t have to feel like a job; plus you’re the perfect example of the power of positivity! Things go wrong and it’s no big deal - you adapt. Seeing a man display this behavior says so much about you as a person. Thank you. He adores your channel and I can see why - your personality & charisma radiate through the camera and are palpable to the audience. I’m so glad we stumbled upon you. You’re a ray of light and deserve every bit of this success. Keep it up! We look forward to every upload!
    With love from SC, USA.

It does seem like the convenience alone may justify a slightly higher price, let alone the environmental benefits. Biodegradable instead of bandages which are not will make a difference to the soil in the long run. We eat plenty of plastic and rubber without growing our cow’s grass in it, so I believe every doing what we makes a difference regardless of how small. Reusable grocery bags are an example, and it adds up.

    Talking about a pet cow. We raised a steer in our back yard in the city limits. He was so fun until his horns grew out. He still was a lover. When we finally introduced him to herd he was our best mover. My dad taught the cattle to come to his truck when he honked the horn. Freckles (the steer's name) would be the lead steer and all the other cows would follow him without having to put up a temp fence to keep them from running off across a road.

    This has gotten randomly recommended to me and I absolutely love it. I grew up on a farm and used to help the hoof trimmer with our cows. We unfortunately had to sell our farm and cows included due to increasing issues of South Africa and farms. Thank you for your work, cows would suffer without your work.

    • @brianthesnail3815
      @brianthesnail3815 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yes unfortunately. Some result in a toe amputation but its rare. I think Graeme showed one cow last year that had one toe. Others their feet are always weak and need constant care. In the wild they would just die or be hunted down.

    I love watching these vids, its very doubtful i will ever trim a cows hoof but its still soooo intresting to watch, another thing i love is how honest you are, some people would never admit that they didnt expect the cavities to be there nor would they admit that they went very slighty too deep on one of the cuts but you do, its what makes you a fantastic teacher and also a great person to watch 💖
    As for Craig i will admit he really made me laugh when he said about his costa cup, im sure your mugs are superior to costas anyday 😊💖😊

    The average dairy farm has what 500 minimum to 1200 cows it seems from the channels I watch. Your videos cover 1 or 2 problems per video. So through out your week you see I'm guessing let's say 10 cows a week tops that are a problem out of several 100 you see a week. So that's about 1% have an issue.

      500-1200 is maybe a little much for Europe but your analogy makes sense not the less. My mum was an podiatrist (hoofcare for mostly people with diabetes if you will) and the amount of people with problematic feet is probably in the same range if not higher.

      Not all of the cows are done at a time. I believe in a previous video he stated that they may only see 20 to 60 at a time. And then a different group the next time they go to that farm. The vast majority don't have any problems.

    I am an accountant in the suburbs of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, I have never touched a cow. How did I end up watching hour after hour of hoof trimming in Scotland??? I will never utilize the 5 step Danish method, I will never need to determine which foot a cow is lame on, and I will never have to differentiate a sole ulcer from a white line defect. But, thanks to the Hood GP and the herd I know what all of that means!!! Love you guys!

    I have noticed you never take off huge chunks of horn other than the first cut of the heel bulb. That shows just how careful you are. I used to be concerned when the animal would bleed, thinking perhaps you were not paying attention as you should. Then I saw the lesion bleed just from spraying it with the bottle and realized how delicate and prone to injury that tissue is.

    GP: I am so glad for you and Ashley that you have chosen a career path so rewarding. It is refreshing to see a man doing such meaningful work in this world. I chose to be a computer programmer, and I have greatly enjoyed using my skill in this direction for the needs of businesses, but displaying reports and processing rows of information haven't given themselves to a record of leaving the world better than I found it, nor have I been able to drive through beautiful Scottish countryside! Maybe RBS needs a good computer man from the States? Cheers, sir, you make a very big difference, and I wish you every success.
