15 Beginner Tips for Baldo: The Guardian Owls

- I’ve been playing Baldo: The Guardian Owls since release day and my gameplay videos have been helping out a lot of people who are playing through the game as I do, and I’ve learned a lot of initial tips that I want to share for anyone picking up Baldo for the first time as it’s a beautiful but fairly difficult game.
** Some of these things may have been changed by the developers since this video was created.

Just as a tip, if your playing on the Switch you can go into System Settings > System > Zoom and make sure it's set to "On". Once this feature is enabled while in game in Baldo when you open the map you can double tap the bottom right home button and it can zoom in for you making it a little easier for you to navigate.

Great hints. I think the most important thing I have learned while playing is:
"Avoid putting the hard mobs into their final form"
I just can't win once they get too powerful. Instead of attacking as much as you can - attack 2 or 3 times then abort and go back for another attack after letting the monster breathe. It is quite easy to roll around and get 2-3 hits in the back, but neigh impossible if they nuke everything around them.

Just finishing the game now, its Absolutely Fantastic!!! IGN gave it a 4/10 lol You could tell the reviewer had no clue and didn't use any of the tools the game offers to make the game easier. It irritates me that a massive publication like them probably turned so many people away from trying this Amazing Game!
The game is technically a mess. While the art is great, everything else looks like a pre Alpha build. I played it for an hour and refund it.
I agree, and there's so much negativity around it! I hope more people pick it up now that the major issues have been patched because it's honestly one of my favorite games ever

You can farm hundreds of orbs in very little time in the blacksmiths basement! Before you beat the area farm the rats in the first room. Leave the house and then go back in to kill them again! Even after you finish the whole area you can still start in the room with the falling floor and kill the rats in the adjacent rooms for orbs. After killing them go back to the falling floor room and let yourself fall through and die. You will keep everything and the orb rats will respawn. I gathered 600 orbs in 25 minutes! Most of the rats give you 5 orbs!

It's such a beautiful but also extremely frustrating game! At first I loved it, but now I hate this game for so many reasons.
I completely understand that sentiment. It's all the more rewarding when I figure out a puzzle though!
@@LetsStayHomeandGame My biggest problems with this game:
1. There is almost no orientation in this game. I walked around for hours, just to find out which way leads to the next dungeon. The most of the time I didn't know where to go, because the map is totally useless.
2. The puzzles are often extremely weird. Many of them have nothing to do with logic or something like that. Who would try to push a tombstone to solve a puzzle?
3. There are too many insta deaths. In terms of unfairness, this game reminds of 80s arcade games, which ruined my childhood.^^
@@frederichorndasch9302 I agree with #1 and #3, but I liked the tombstone puzzle! I had no idea what to do, but when I figured out you had the option to push on the tombstones and then figure out which one was the right one to push, that was a big "aha moment" for me
I was wondering if u were goin' to mention to just swing ur sword maniacally when entering a room lol 😆 I love that u warn the player(s) that you're goin' to die..a lot lol that's so very true especially when the enemies annihilate ur health in 1 hit lol Great job with this video Holly! This is more like a necessary Baldo Survival guide which should help many many players 😃
Great tips! But dungeon maps actually exist!! They are in the weapons menu!
You're so right! I forgot when I made this
One missing tip: in order to use the sacred fire you NEED orbs. So be cautious and always turn it off if you're not using it. I think that every time you turn it on 1/4 of orb is used. Unfortunately I only found out about it when my orbs dropped from 20 to 2 and I thought it was a bug :(

Does anyone know how to switch from night to days and vice versa? I know there is an inn in Rodia town however this feature is not current available to me yet as the lady the the inn tells me the inn is not up running at the moment. I have been in night mode for a long time and I really need to go back to day time to continue my journey. Does anyone know how to switch to day time?
Have you been to Jacu Oasis? I have not tried it myself but one of the characters told me there is an inn there, however I did not see it myself and I thought I talked to everyone.

It only helped me when I was running around like a headless chicken to finally open the map & notice there were two doors I missed in that damn trap skeletons room the doors were so hard to see

I’m gutted! I managed to get to the lighthouse boss and now the patch update has stripped my 4th heart container, all my dindi and my orbs so I can’t beat the boss! I’m gutted!!!!!
No way! That happened after the update? I get so nervous every time I save quit the game

So heart's are pointless. Healing items are pointless. The map is pointless. Your shield is pointless. Your sword is pointless. Basically the core of the gameplay is pointless. 15 years in development. Sure..
Not necessarily pointless, you just have to get strategic with it! It can be frustrating at times though.
@@LetsStayHomeandGame You are right.. But it is also an excuse for bad or lazy game design. I'm sorry. I'm having a really hard time enjoying this game and I want to sooo badly. I'm watching your videos and see that you are enjoying stumbling into things and going with the flow of things. I feel constantly lost and frustrated. I'm hoping they will fix things. The horrible game over text is burnt into my retina at the moment. Going from A to B is a struggle and I played Hollow knight and the souls games to death. So it's not like I don't enjoy a challenge. This game feel unfair in it's design. It's looks like a Ferrari but drives like a used Fiat from the 80's.. such a waste of a world of wonderful inspiration.
@@Sam-qd8fy "unfair in its design" is a good way to put it. and having the game over screen burned into your retinas is almost poetic
