Great video man. I tried Baldo the first time on release and well yeah it did not love up to its expectations and I did not get far before it became frustrating and unfun. I started a playthough at the same time as my 9 year son early today and we are 6 hours in, loving every minute 😀
Thanks for the video, the Baldo updates are something I've been keeping my eyes on for a while now and I'm so glad the team was able to fix up the game to the expectations of the consumers, even if said expectations and goals didn't match what the team originally set out to make. It's great when someone can take feedback like that and say "okay, maybe they're right," and put in that time to make a better product overall in the end.
I want to try this one out! Making a simmilar sort of game my self, so it's always interesting to try other peoples creations, you learn a lot from it. The game looks really good, I tip my hat to the devs.

Started as a RPG Maker game, turned in to an "actual game" thats being developted in Unity. I am most def gonna check Baldo out. I just bought baldo, glad I didn't buy it before. the details about the attack animation, falling to your death respawn, saves, navigation, stamina gauge size improvements were very helpful and seeing that you get more hearts and strength after killing bosses. most other reviewers don't mention these important details, oh and fast travel.
@nemA96 lol, I haven't played links awakening, but this seems bigger and if you want something like zelda this is a great alternative. Great game if I could change 1 thing I would put the camera zoom out more with the option of different zoom levels. and maybe a jump button. happy with the $28 in (New Zealand)

Started Baldo yesterday (6th May 2024); I’ve had one crash but restarted and didn’t lose anything (save worked). I also found a spot where you can walk off the map and explore outside unconstrained.
I’m really excited to try this now, and glad to support developers who take pride in their work and support their game on a level I’ve never seen before. Hats off to them.
I’m one of the people who picked this up day one after following the game for years. Soldiered on to about half way through but just had to give up due to all the issues you mentioned but namely the exploration, I just couldn’t figure out where to go next! Maybe I’ll re-download, I’m not sure.
That was the biggest issue for me, id recommend re-downloading all the patches made a world of difference. This went from my biggest disappointment to one of my favorite games. The exploration is so much easier now

One question I had was, is the "assist" mode you mentioned something that can be toggled on/off? I actually prefer to play these types of games without any assistance so that I can explore on my own -- i really enjoy exploring and this is how i played Elden Ring and Zelda BotW (i tried my best to not "cheat" by using any guides or walkthroughs). Thanks for doing this great re-review of Baldo after it's fixes.
Thanks for hanging out, yeah assist mode can be turned off and on. I'm with on BOTW it was amazing just exploring and finding new stuff. Idk about the availability but my wife bought me the physical copy of baldo for Christmas for about $30 it has all the patches and even DLC included

I just started the new switch release with dlc included and so far it's pretty fun. Not sure how bad it used to be but I'm glad I'm playing the fixed version. I died like 5 times getting the sword. So far only problem I have with the game is the outrageously long loading screens.
I would buy a physical but I just have a problem with spending over 10 bucks for a digital. I know I'm missing out on a hell of a lot of good games but I also have a hell of a lot of good games. It just works for me

It just needs a few quality of life improvements, some polish and a better map. I'm playing Tunic now, and it's everything I hoped Baldo would be. Incredible game So glad to hear Baldo took the criticisms as constructive and fixed it.
I absolutely love Tunic, I was so excited when it got announced for the switch. I'm working on a second play through when I have the time, trying to get the "good" ending. As for baldo idk if you played it since the latest patch. But for me I really enjoyed, I will say it is still a bit of a chore to figure out where to go next.
@@nemA96 Honestly, between your video and SwitchUps Ressurecting Baldo video, I will be giving it another chance once I finish Tunic. The opening few hours was SO tedious, and I usually like the feeling of being lost in a game. But after picking vegetables and walking slow for 45 minutes, then walking out without ANY idea of where to go, and a map that was beyond useless, I bailed super early last time. That beginning section had to have lost 90% of players. So I hope that has been streamlined as well. But either way, I'll definitely give it the old college try

I was really looking forward to this game since it was revealed. But I was so disappointed when it launched in a broken state. Now I hear is fixed and I am excited to buy it now. Developers like this, who can make mistakes, but learn from them and fix them really need to be supported. Also, I am absolutely shock to learn this game was made by just two people. I’m so late in finding out what this game is. So I’m a bit confused now. DLC’s are finishing up what the game was originally intended to be??? So in order for the story to be told how they want it.. it’s fine to play the DLC’s .. first?!!!?
yeah they fixed it but I don't like their attitude of "well you should just get good" being the reason the combat was terrible and everything was broken and janky. and them trying to compare it to a dark souls sounds like a total cop out or saying it's bad to show you where to go, botw shows you where to go and yet you can go do anything besides beat the actual story of the game.
I agree with alot of what your saying, your right about every other game atleast gives a little direction or is linear enough to guide you. I had no problem with link to the past( a game they also compared). I will say though it does take some stones to swallow your pride and change your creation and to listen to someone like Mark from switchup instead just being stubborn. Ultimately I completely understand your perspective.

It actually already has the patches and dlc! I got a physical copy for Xmas 22 it was up to date. They did hold the production until the game was fixed.
will the physical release at the end of August be the patched version or the original mess ? I am NOT going to buy a physical game that needs !ots of downloading. That would not be future proof.

I even tried Link’s Awakening for the more old school zelda formula and I’m really enjoying that. I’m kind of mad that it took me so long to pick it up. I’m just really looking for more quality action adventure games that aren’t strategy based combat on the switch. Baldo has alway been on my radar even more now that they fixed a lot of the issues. There’s a physical release coming for Baldo. If you have any other recommendations I’d appreciate it. I’ve also been curious about Oceanhorn 1 & 2. Oceanhorn 2 has a physical at limited run. They look very indie and Baldo just looks the most polished. Thanks again!!

So theirs a game called Ocean Heart I absolutely love, blossom tales 1 and 2, Ocean horn is really good too, Nobody Saves The World also gave me zelda vibes. Oh and to an extent Tunic and deaths door(they are rather difficult). Zelda type are some of my favorite types, I've done reviews on most of the games I mentioned!

@@nemA96 The original release was way more buggy than this one; crashed almost once an hour. Didn’t find any map holes that time though.
