If it just had a bit more juice and was released worldwide in 1999 rather than coming out with 1998-era hardware, it could've remained competitive (yes, in the late 90s, even a single year meant a _lot_ in terms of computing power). However, even if the Dreamcast survived, considering the godawful decision-making of Sega of Japan and Sega of America's refusal to stand up to them, _something_ would've gotten them. Probably a Dreamcast 2 released in 2003, to be decimated by the 7th gen. Because once we had Xbox and PlayStation, there was no real point to a third "mature/graphics-focused" competitor (hence why Nintendo stopped trying). And I don't know if a "everyone/fun-focused" competitor to Nintendo would've had a chance either (but who knows, maybe each demographic could've had a main rival). Also, fun fact, since it's a 6th gen console, theoretically Sonic Unleashed could've had a Dreamcast port, considering it did have a PS2 version. And all that could've been!
As far as flops go, it was pretty weird. It felt like it was doing great. Games were great. It was the only truly next gen console for a while until....PS2. Nothing could compete with the success of PS2, and DC didn't have a DVD drive when DVD was clearly the next new movie standard, so it never stood a chance. Chao Adventure 2 can only store up to two randomly-selected quests at a time. The next time Chao Adventure 2 gets overwritten a new set of two quests appear in the game. Speaking of the quests, you get nothing for bad endings, and a random tree seed for a good ending. Some quests lack a good ending, and I tried everything I can in the "Pumpkin Hill" quest, but no matter what path I pick, I'm always presented with a bad ending.

I really wish they did more with the HD ports like letting people trade and battle Chao online or releasing a Sonic Advance port collection and letting you transfer between the games.

peace.
19:12 I thought it was flipping us off for a second lol
I got mad when the game grumps played Sonic shuffle, because they probably used an emulator they didn’t have a VMU and figured not being able to see your cards was intentional.
I think conceptually the vmu is awesome and something we'd unfortunately never see again because of phones (also unrelated plese don't advertise betterhelp, ironically their help would be worse than anywhere else)
To look back and think about the Chao sex mechanics on the Sonic Adventure series is weird nostalgia to say the least.😂
Imagine a Chao Adventure app for Sonic Adventure remake that would be cool, and with QR codes it’ll definitely be easy to do in a modern game.
Why stop there, you could go full AR
@@Sarc-n-Sass 😃😁😬🫤😐😑😕🙁☹️
Sick long sleeve bro
15:56 Actually, you could increase the luck and intelligence stat by giving the chao animals in the gamecube port. There isn't any way to check it, though.
The two friends playing battle mode
The third Friend:
Chao Adventure 3 when, Sega?
...eh, that's somehow even less likely than a hypothetical Sonic Adventure 3. In any case, 'twas nice looking back at how the VMU was utilized with regards to these games!
You know, you're one of the people I trust when it comes to Sega's line of consoles.
Not like Bingus or whatever, clowning on it while ignoring what made it special.
6:40 looks like a chao fruit
My battery always died right before I got to play any of these cool VMU games 😩
1999 was like a totally different dimension man.
11:03 chao garden supporting enbies since 1999
I’m surprised sonic adventure 1 and 2 didn’t come out for PlayStation 1, 2 maybe frame rates couldn’t be able to be compatible for ps2 and ps1 when this games came out
PS1? Definitely not. PS2, maybe. Judging by the PS2 versions of Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog, it'd be the same game with half the frame rate.
Came for VMU, stayed for Chao
Hey, you might wanna vet your sponsors a bit better... BetterHelp is known to be really shady.
Lame comment
@@TheSultan1470 How very insightful, firstname bunchofnumbers
@@SafetyServbotInfernoOmni has integrity with his sponsors. He mentioned he turned down Temu and BetterHelp despite them offering a ton of money. The only one he made a mistake with was that “Become a lord/lady” thing, but he even admitted it was a mistake when he did more research.
Anyway I’m sure that ChaoMix didn’t mean to pick a shady company. He likely genuinely didn’t know, considering that they don’t openly broadcast, “Hey we’re a shady company!” I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
@@TheSultan1470 you dont even know what hes saying
@@cashiertheyeepvr Crazy how every TH-camr's viewerbase comprises a bunch of manchildren who try to force themselves into the creator's life when they feel offended by what they're doing. They could just, you know, find another one to latch on to, lol.
This is reminding me of the Pokewalker gimmick from HGSS.
