  • It may surprise some people to know that I don't hate every single thing to do with Dovetail Games and Train Sim World 4. There are some routes that I actually like, of which four are being discussed in this video.
The routes in question are as follows:
Glasgow Cathcart Circle Line (by DTG and Rivet Games)
Niddertalbahn - Bad Vilbel to Stockheim (by Train Sim Germany)
Blackpool Branches - Preston to Blackpool & Ormskirk (by Just Trains)
Island Line 2022 and Class 484 (by Rivet Games)
(scenery patch for Cathcart Circle; only works on the PC version, unfortunately):

My top 5 favorite routes is uhhhh
    1. Brighton Mainline
    2. East Coast Way (both of those 2 routes are my local route. Wish they could’ve also made the west coastway)
    3. Southeastern Highspeed (lot of trains to drive also st. Pancras and HS1)
    4. ScotRail Express (an AC route, the speeds I can drive on this route is balanced between the stations. And the 385 is cool cuz it has announcement I can play with.)
    5. Cathcart Circle (cuz 314, and I can use it alongside the 313 and make a dual voltage PEP train 😂. Wanted to put this along with 4 but this goes lower because there is only 1 train.
My honorable mentions are ECML, GWE and MML.
ECML is taken down by not having a class 91, York or Leeds (and not having the HST and kinda picked the wrong era.) GWE and MML takes the same place because they have HST and I love them. The big down side is that they are always stuck in routes that are short for them. And also GWE doesn’t have anything beyond reading and MML from your review it’s short.

My thoughts, 1 and 2 should've been combined into one route. GWE is ripe for a major update. Add in the Heathrow loop and add heathrow express and Liz Line services to the route. That might mean running a double timetable for the 2015ish era with the HSTs and a current era with the Class 800s and Liz Line

Nicely done. Oddly enough Ive played a ton of Cathcart Circle and was always curious why it got so much hate on the forums. I'm stuck in TSW2 land so I haven't played a couple of those on your list, but respect that you give the good with the bad when it comes to the franchise.

I think Nahverkehr Dreden also is an excellent route because of the OHLE detail (mainly seen between Neustadt and Coswig, where the OHLE zig zags as it should). Even though no new trains are new in that route, having the 442, 146 and 143 have improved sounds / physics and even playability, I think of it as having alot of new trains.

Personnally I really like Southeastern High Speed with its variety of rolling stock and service patterns, as well as the Cathcart Circle and Dresden Riesa for the same reason you have stated. I don't have the Blackpool Branches but your video made me consider getting it once it's on sale as it looks interesting

I’m surprised you like the Isle of White route so much, even though there’s not much going on with it. There’s basically no service variation, only one train, the route itself is very short, and while it’s well made and looks nice, it does get repetitive after a while. But that’s just me. As for my favorites, my number one is obviously the Boston to Providence route, since I grew up around that route IRL and the route itself is fun to drive on whether I’m doing an MBTA or Amtrak service. And I’ll even go as far as to put the New York to Trenton route as my number two because it’s the Northeast Corridor so already it gets points from me, and I do get enjoyment out of it no matter what train I’m driving. Of course I do think that add-on could’ve been even better, had it been built all the way to Philadelphia, or included NJT Comet coaches or Amtrak Amfleet IIs and viewliner coaches, but for me it’s still enjoyable even as is. Other favorites include the London Commuter and Riesa to Dresden routes for the sheer amount of traffic in timetable mode. And while Spirit of Steam could’ve been a lot better, I do still enjoy it from time to time, whether I’m driving a Steam engine or putting down a classic diesel train using the free roam tools. And that’s actually about it. There are other routes that I like but none of them are able to keep me hooked for that long, and I either come back to them after a while, or just never touch them again. And even then there are a number of routes in TS Classic that I enjoy more, and we can’t forget about Simrail which it’s first route has over 180 miles of trackage which all vary in speed and scenery, and has multiple different trains and services, and on top of that the multiplayer and dispatching features which add so much to the replay value. And with that said I can’t wait to see what else is created once the editing tools finally drop. Anyway since I have some bias towards American routes, which would you say is your favorite US route?

    • @DC4260Productions
      @DC4260Productions  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Not sure about what my favourite US route could be, since there aren't very many of them (especially when compared to the UK and German routes). But I think Boston Sprinter and Peninsula Corridor are good routes, although the latter has embarrassingly bad scenery.

    My ranking goes like this:
    1) Köln - Aachen, interesting concept with good service variation
    2) Nahverkehr Dresden, same reasons as the Video
    3) Main-Spessert-Bahn, tho outdated it's a nice more challenging route with ok service variation
    4) Southeastern High Speed, Lots of mileage and rolling stock
    5) Niddertalbahn, Same reasons as in the VIdeo.

  • @mrvwbug4423

    My favorite routes are.
SEHS: this one goes without saying.
Blackpool Branches: so pretty, the pacer has great selection of services, could wish for more mainline running with the class 47.
Kassel-Wurzburg: an actual sustained high speed route, not just a taste of high speed operation like the other two ICE routes. Also has a ton of other services on it for freight and BR101.
NEC: Trenton: Tons of services, a lot of "life" to the line since they sort of fixed it, all the rolling stock is great, now if they would just fix the performance issues.
London Commuter: this one goes without saying.
Honorable mention ... sort of: GW express, the route is kinda boring, but the Class 43 is a lot of fun to drive and looks so damn good in the GWR livery. This route could easily be updated and modernized, add a GWR flavor IET, add in the missing Heathrow Express (we have the dual mode 387 already), and add the Liz Line (we have an Aventra coming). Also add the Heathrow loop to the route so you can run Heathrow Express and Liz Line services to heathrow.

Kassel-Würzburg? Really? It's only 250km/h (except for some rare cases where it goes up to 280 for a few seconds before going back down to 250) and only has 3 stations.

  • @Awesome_Transport

Personally my favourite route has to be the West Somerset railway, although admittedly that's mainly because I have a lot of the DLC layers that make it interesting. The base route itself obviously only comes with two locos which are both diesel, and being limited to 25 mph, it's not really that challenging to drive in a diesel loco, I think they should have added a GWR Manor locomotive with a couple of liveries seeing as it is a great western route and the real life line has three resident manor locomotives. That would also provide a nice alternative to see in a GWR route operated purely by LMS locos and an LNER loco. It would have also have been nice to have Flying Scotsman layered in as an AI service in the timetable too rather than only being able to use it if you're driving it. However the scenery on the route is great and the new timetable has kept me occupied for the past few days.

My top 5 based off quality of through point a to b run
    Switching/shunting
    Motive power variety and uniqueness
    Variety of the route
    Timetable depth
    And scenery is
    1. Peak Forrest-beautiful route, the fowlers got an awesome multi stop road local switcher scenario which is the only one I’ve ever came across in 32 routes. Solid express and freight movements (when this route recieves its diesel update and timetable upgrade I hope it just makes it even better however I scored the route as a 98% based off my grading system
    2. Sand patch- absolutely beautiful scenery, with all 5 locos with the dlcs added just add even more depth, good yard switching, an awesome switchback branch to the Shaw mine, my 3rd route to own and a go to on a daily basis with a score of 96%
    3. Clinchfield. 96% The only US route with extreme diversity in terms of route selection. Technically 5 branch lines adding the McClure spur, the only route with 6-8 part road local switcher services with multiple stops in each part, the vintage sd40 and F7 look so good snaking through the mountainside along a river, only thing could make this route better is an extension to Johnson city and make a loco dlc preferably steam but they could honestly reskin the oakville gp9RM and that would be solid too
    4. London east Hampton- 95% likely the most rounded route made, it has everything, steam excursion, commuter services, high speed services, freight through runs and yard and industry switching with the 375. Beautiful scenery and the variety of routes for that dlc are great
    5. Between MSB 93% Voralberg 94% and tsw4 Dresden route, 93% all have great scenery and variety of route selections with all 3 having branch lines with MSB having a really good industrial switcher the 204.
Honorable mentions that round my top ten are
Oakville, cajon pass, & west Cornwall. A very slept on route Linke rheinstreke which I think is the most beautiful route ever made, and routes like Boston-providence, horseshoe curve, and NY-Trenton are routes that left way too much on the table without being completed the way they should’ve been.

I have the 3 British routes here on my wish list, although I’m still on TSW2 and will wait for sales so it may take me a while to get to Blackpool 😂 Went on lots of holidays and day trips to Blackpool by train when I was younger so that would be a cool route to have. Isle of Wight appeals as I don’t have much time to play and actually prefer shorter routes that I can learn more easily. Only thing I’m led to believe is the 484 accelerates way too quick than IRL. On the flip side I also heard you can play reasonably well as a guard with an AI driver on the 484 which I think would be fun to do occasionally. Have you played Tees Valley Line btw and any thoughts if so?

I think a lot of us have the same opinion on TSW as a whole - it’s a good concept flawed by its developers. DTG seem to have made some sort of monopoly over easy to access relatively high quality console + PC transport games, which is quite sad to see when there are definitely many other developers wanting to expand into this business with their only option really being to develop for TSW rather than make their own game. Please do correct me if I’m wrong 😂

@@pelativeeeee190DTG has no Monopoly. They're not preventing anyone from making train sims. It's not like the Super League vs UEFA which gotten struck UEFA case down in court with the Super League being officially allowed to exist after that. The problem is nowadays with game devloping, being harder, more costly, the crap inflation, work, interest rates, etc. Doing independently without the money capital, knowledge, AND experience independently is suicide nowadays. I can't blame devs with going with DTG.
Blame Microsoft and others for not developing products. I acknowledge it's monopolist behavior with the pricing and the way they do it. I think having more DTG teams would help alot but that's me.

@@nowapproachingytDTG is doing very well on that part with your 1st part hence u think of that. Nothing is stopping Microsoft (one of the largest companies in the world that could easily make multiple products at the same time) from developing their own products to rival DTG. They did before though I think money wise they cut it out? They seem more focus on COD and other software than games. There's also that Sim Rail though that has focus on Polish Rail currently.
