Something very annoying with the 150 is that sometimes when you open the doors using the hotkey, the buttons will get stuck and you'll be unable to close the doors using the hotkey, you'll have to click on the buttons in the cab. Oh and the guard panel doesn't work, despite it being basically the same as in the 313 and 314 given that it's another Mk3-based multiple unit. I bought that route a long time ago basically to have another BR era DMU. Oh and if I'm not mistaken the route is set in 1994.
It's just a perfect storm of problems where the 150 is concerned. And a slight correction regarding the 313 and 314; they're from the 1972 'PEP' family, rather than being Mk3-derived units.
This is one of the worst routes Rivet have released. There was so much criticism when it first came out. Unfortunately, it seems Rivet will not go back and make improvements to this route
Just watched this review, just some thing I'd like to add for context as I lived on this line for 25 years. You mention the long signal blocks, that is period accurate. Between St Austell and Penzance in the 90s there were only 5 old-style signal boxes (Penzance, St Erth, Roskear Junction, Truro and Par (St Austell was controlled from a small panel in Par box)) controlling the entire line by absolute block. The long wait at SE is realistic as the next box along at Roskear Junction has it's home signal just before Camborne station. There were no intermediate block signals in this time period, so the block sections were huge. The long wait is more likely the fault of bad timetabling. You also mentioned the freight, there were a select few freights running on that line in the 90s, mostly China Clay at Burngullow and a once-a-week freight to Ponsandane goods depot (next to Long Rock). If they wanted to make full use of the freight and class 37 a more logical thing to do would be include the branch at Burngullow to Parkandillack, as then effectively bolt on the ancient "China Clay for Export" route from TSC (Which adds the other China Clay branches to Goonbarrow Junction and Fowey Docks (Reversing at Lostwithiel).) I agree, St Austell is a bizarre place to cut-off the route. And they really missed out on the valenta HST. Traditional loco-hauled trains had almost entirely ceased by this time with the exception of the mail. The Falmouth branch would've been a great addition as the docks at Falmouth were still connected by rail and would give more uses for the class 37! As well as giving the player an option to do an actual end-to-end run of a real service. Also Lelant Saltings is a generally odd station anyway, it was built as a park-and-ride and I seem to recall had an convoluted stopping pattern. But it's odd that no trains at all call there in the provided timetable.
I always felt like the route choice was very underwhelming. It should have been extended to Plymouth and be called the Cornish Main Line, add in the HSTs as well too. And especially the Looe Valley Line gives a really cool challenge from Liskeard as u have to reverse at Coombe Jct to continue the rest of that interesting small branch
If they extended it to Plymouth, they could have added the Tamar Valley Line to Gunnislake as well. That route involves another reverse move at Bere Alston.
I do think they should do what they did with WSR upgrading everything. Then extending the route coverage, and including the IC HST with velenta engines.
The scenery pack fundamentally makes the line's scenery look more presentable and improves the quality, I agree. But then again, there is a certain charm to this route, despite the low quality. Of course, I don't like the long signal blocks, where you go for miles without a signal. One other good thing is the challenging gradients on the rotue, and I agree, Falmouth branch should of been included.
Something you might have missed with the class 150s. No matter what you do nor do you place them in any other route. The class 150s is not able to couple with another class 150 (nor thr class 158 despite them being from the same sprinter family. But maybe due to condition of when train was built. That can be excused). Although you can straight up spawn the 150 with it already being coupled. You just cannot manually spawn 2 150 and couple them together. I did all I can pressing the couple button setting the reverser to neutral and then the couple button again. But nope nothing works and Rivet refuses to fix that bug. Hope this brings another point as to weird or bad the class 150 is.
I wish they ended the line at Truro and instead of going to St. Austell, go down the falmouth branch. We also need a HST layer but in a different livery. The West cornwall steam railtour pack was clearly rushed. They could have actually added a new steam loco that is GWR, but oh no, they decided to go with the lazy option
I cannot believe how awful the scenery looks on this route! I've seen old Kuju-era routes that look better than this, and I thought the scenery on LGV Med and Peninsular Corridor was bad enough! Thanks in part to your video, I will be avoiding this route like the plague!
@TheTrainspotterFromTauranga I recently bought Revit's Bernina line in a sale, and I was impressed by the scenery. It's probably the second best looking route in TSW after the Niddertalbahn and much better than the Arosaline or West Cornwall Local. I'd been wanting that route for a while due to it being the only italian route in the game with the small section in Tirano. I wish Dovetail or a third-party developer would create an Italian route like Rome-Florence due to its non-linear nature with a separate high speed and classic line connecting both cities.
Hi. I see you are using the exhaust mod pack. For some reason when i install the mod during gameplay if i switch camera the smoke disappears and never comes back. Any ideas?
Im local to this area , st ives is extraordinary in real life but it just looks absolutely awful, worst route in the game and an embarrassment to cornwall, not to mention the lack of rolling stock, lack of falmouth branch and / or the lack of extension to plymouth. Rubbish 👍
Do my eyes Deceive me?! You actually caved in got WCL.... Well now that... Was pretty unexpected...
I don’t even have this game but I’ll still enjoy your reviews.

Given rivets record, I doubt they will give it a wsr treatment
@@potatoman451 I’m not saying rivet have to just trains would do it justice
Speechless that you finally got this route!

To sum this up, it is an unfinished route that was rushed to release just like almost every dlc from rivet games

I only saw 150s running solo on WCL, but I never thought to investigate the coupler bug myself.
@@DC4260Productions give it a try yourself. It’s really just impossible to manual couple 2 class 150s if you want to do 4 cars.
I never use the 150/2 due to the horrific sounds. The flange squeal is really bad. Like nothing I’ve ever heard 😖
I've used this branch irl and the St Ives branch is exstordenery( I suck a spelling) and some of the scenery is sort of realistic
I bought it when it was released because I love going on holiday there and I was young and stupid at the time 😭

I recommend avoiding most of Rivet's back catalogue like the plague. Except Island Line 2022 and Fife Circle; I don't mind those two.

Used to take the route from par to Plymouth every day, wish I could've seen that route
Would like to have seen the Newquay branch with the China clay
They need to add GWR steam surely dove tail don't need the license
Would also depend on actual access
I really am surprised you reviewed this because you hated it and I wanted you to review it. though a pleasant surprise
It’s a shame to see an area of such beauty in real life done dirty by the silly sods from Stirling.
If and when I get this route, im running reskinned hsts in IC Swallow no doubt
Hi. I see you are using the exhaust mod pack. For some reason when i install the mod during gameplay if i switch camera the smoke disappears and never comes back. Any ideas?
Cannot stand the sounds on the 150/2, completely ruined the train for me and that sucks because I enjoy driving said train in TSC quite a bit.

HE GAVE INTO GETTING THE ROUTE
You do know that the Pacer is also in this route too right?
He did mention it at 11:38
He mentioned it in the video though
Yeah, uh, it's not unless you have the Blackpool Branches route...
not included, the Pacer is part of Just Trains' excellent Blackpool Branches add-on
Only if you purchase Blackpool Branches, the pacer will layer on to the WCL
Welp. . .
It finally happened
uh oh
A complete dogs egg of a route
I can’t believe you like Fife Circle I think it looks worse than this!
Nah, fife circle is much better
It really is a rubbish route .
It can still be fun but still trash
Rubbish add-on
I think west Cornwall local is nice and great (my opinion)
