    Most of the routes in tsw are definitely too short. It's hard to say that this is a simulator. More like an arcade game with trains.

      I guess because for Dovetail it is not profitable to make these, so they make a lot of not too big routes and sell them for ridiculous prices, mostly. Although, it would be cool if you could connect multiple DLCs into one mega route. However most DLCs are based on completely different regions and there is no link between them.

      I mean yes and no because while your mostly right i definitely feel this is more of a simcade since you do have punishments and have to follow certain rules and even do things like coupling yourself other than that id say it is arcadey as ive played many train arcade games and they feel similar

      It's all about profit. They think if they made huge routes with lots of things going on we'll stick to only few of them as they will be enough. Also they made the game arcady to appeal to lots of player base..

      What's missing in the game to consider it a simulator?

      @@alexk9295 Run 8 consists of full subdivisions. They also seem to choose subs that they can tie together so that you can have hundreds of miles of track to run on, ie Needles to Barstow and on to Bakersfield or up through Mojave. It's also multiplayer and has the ability to do manual dispatching. Unfortunately, most people aren't interested in US freight so there's not really any competition there.

    Glad to see you gave the non passenger US routes fair placement and criticism and not just throw them in D because "REEEE US freight hurts my passenger train bias" some some channel clearly show.

    - Rhein Ruhr in S-Tier? It has no HC Desiro and is missing a bunch of typical Rolling Stock from the route. Also has the old skydome. Nothing with the old sky can be great for me.
    - London-Brighton: old skydome and no class 700 services. Also could have done with branches or London Bridge. B for me!
    - Kassel-Würzburg is much too harsh in D. I would put in B because it´s well made and It put the iconic ICE in game and layered it on to a bunch of German routes!
    - Voralberg is also much too harsh. B for me...some nice scenary up the mountains.
    - New Dresden-Riesa is banger route! Network style, loads of traffic, loads of rolling stock, the amazing Vectron, the Meißen Branch.... S Tier!
    Is Cathcart Circle really that great? I never picked it up....

    • @thetrainguy4
      @thetrainguy4  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'll take this line by line.
      -Rhein Ruhr has a large timetable and feels busy, the messy tracks make it feel real. I don't really care much about the skybox if other aspects are good. It may not have every specific type of train but it does have a fair few and plenty of layers.
      -London to Brighton is much the same. Yes it has issues but it has an enormous timetable and plenty of layers.
      -KWG only introduced the ICE1, two separate ICE3s came in TSW2. Its so depressingly boring and as such I never use it. The ICE1 layers to far less routes as the ICE3.
      -Vorarlberg is badly made, super-saturated and the trees don't have shadows, also the sounds are horrendous.
      -Old Reisa-Dresden had all that but without the texture glitches and fucked lighting. I much prefer the old one.
      -Yes Cathcart is very nice, a proper network feel.

      Kassel-Würzburg has only three passenger stations, only one of which is architecturally interesting in any way. And the AI services are just taunting you.

    East coastway is easily an A or an S in my mind. The scenery can be a bit lacking, especially around lewes and seaford, which id know having travelled on the line quite a bit. But it starts and ends at 3 termini, and feels really complete, has much better freight workings than basically any other modern route due to the aggregate loader, and the 313 adds superbly to this. Definitely a route in dire need of an update, maybe they could extend it to Hastings/Ore, but its one of my favourite routes up there with BML and SEHS, and its my most played. Also, after seeing this, i think i need to buy cathcart circle.
    edit: also has a killer branch line, with a shuttle service from brighton to lewes, its very non-linear. it would be better if it had some coupling procedures like BML

    • @zzrev
      @zzrev 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      B is solid for ECW. Because due to the absence of class 387 gatwick express trains at Brighton is very unrealistic if you have London Commuter as 377s and 387 share Brighton station. So it's very unrealistic just seeing 377s on this line. And the 377 sounds are horrendous. And the route is way too short, could have just put London Commuter and ECW together or continued ECW further for more service variation. Scenery is amazing, but the previously mentioned issues hold it back.

      @@o.m.b.demolitionenterprise5398 as someone who has played the most on electro stars and east coast way I must say it's a really fun route yet I would say it is nowhere near sehs and bml. The route is neat but it lacks length which is something a lot of people prefer (why I like bml and the st pancras-faversham runs). The route lacks trains and you only get the 377 which has horrible audio vs the bml 377. And the dra doesn't light up. The 313 has to be purchased for such a high prise that bml/sehs makes more sense to get in the first place. There are no trubo-stars in the game and it doesn't have the leg from ore-hastings which should have been included because that allows you to turn the train around. The leg between lewes and haywards heath is also not included which is a shame for people that want to run a 'full' (interupted by dlc chamge) service from victoria to eastbourne.
      Eastcoastway feels like a route that should just have been part of the brighton mainline

  • @jwrailve3615
    @jwrailve3615 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    Personally clinchfield is by far the most complete US freight route. 4 branch lines, older era, multi part road switching series, a very solid yard switching scenario, only way it could be better is a new loco added and a tad bit more yard switching ops. We have the routes very similary placed. I’m beyond ticked with DTG repackage and rereleasing boston-providence and STILL NO GEEP38-2 scenario/timetables it’s ridiculous.
    Sand patch is my favorite point to point but with only one actual run to Shaw mine and the yards looking like they are literally abandoned are my only gripes. Horseshoe the fact only one yard dswitching scenario and zero road switching multi part scenarios when there are literally three yards, and multiple industries you never touch it really restrains it, cajon pass the fact they STILL haven’t fixed the es44’s that appear blue but should be Union Pacific as well as Union Pacific sd70aCes appearing on the map but not able to use despite me owning them through the Cheyenne route as well as so many missed opportunities with so many industries you never even come close to serving really affects the experience on the largest American route. Peninsula is just super empty.
    They just don’t complete the routes and just keep pushing out new ones.

    what do you think about the Reginal DLC's 4 of them are on special as well as Bahnstrecke Salzburg - Rosenheimrain - Would you say buy or pass ?

  • @AB-mw8oz
    @AB-mw8oz 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    For the most part I agree, ones I disagree with
    Niddertalbahn - B tier at best. Just very short for the price, the 628 is a nice loco and the free update with the modern DB AG Red livery is a welcome addition
    Tees Valley - B Tier, solid route but nothing special
    Main Spessart - A Tier, This route I've probably put the most love into, I like the challenge of the hill climb, something the Ruhr route misses, Main Spessart does need a facelift and maybe an extension to Wurzburg
    Dresden - A Tier, probably the most diverse route in the game, it only lacks true high speed services
    TGV route whatever it's called, F tier. I'm glad I got this one for free because I would never have willingly spent any money on it
    Left Rhine Railway and East Coastway. I'm from Sussex so East Coastway is an automatic S tier, and I've lived along the Rhine in the Bingen area before so Left Rhine Railway is an S Tier. Being less biased, I still think both routes are fairly solid, A tier material. Left Rhine Railway was also a solid introduction into 1990s West German rolling stock (Yes I know the route is set after German reunification) I'd love to see some era appropriate Deutsche Reichsbahn content from the other side of the Iron Curtain, course we do have the DB 143 and 155 which started life in East Germany but I mean a route set in the mid 1980s before the Berlin Wall came down.
    East Coastway, could do with a face lift, and maybe an extension to Hastings or Ashford. But the scenery is decent, route is fairly fun and is not boring. Not really much more to say, and tbh writing this I agree with the B tier ranking, it's nothing special, but nothing bad either.
    Voralberg S-Bahn - I'd put it in C tier, the route itself is decent. What sets it back for me is the lack of mainline EC and IC trains. The upcoming Semmering route will most likely layer onto Voralberg but the OBB 1116 and OBB Eurofirma coaches should have come with the base route, especially since both the Eurosprinter ES64 and the Eurofirma coaches already exist in the game, hell at this point I believe the ES64 has been reskinned 3 or 4 times in DB, MRCE, Dispolok and maybe 1 more livery

    Not quite sure why you were so harsh with GWE. Not only did it have a visual upgrade during the preservation team era (TSW2?) but it's a busy and reasonably long route with a huge local & regional passenger timetable (CL166) as well as high speed and freight options...and not everything is a green light service so you never know what you're going to get with each journey. There's even a legends pack for those who want some older train. Some would see that as a near-perfect addon!

    • @thetrainguy4
      @thetrainguy4  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1) It's not that busy compared to more recent routes.
      2) Almost everything is green-light.
      3) The Legends pack isn't great.
      THAT SAID I do still enjoy it, just like I enjoy Arosalinie despite its low ranking.
      Each to their own, I was working off my own opinion, you are most welcome to disagree!

    As a Swiss, I naturally prefer German, Austrian and Swiss routes, but there are also some English routes that I really like, e.g. southeastern highspeed. I don't own many of them and can't say anything about them. But I usually have the feeling that dtg puts more effort into English tracks. But what I don't understand is why you have vorarlerg so far down? Yes, Railjet is missing, but otherwise I think the route is very good

    I don't have München to Augsburg, but I find I have the same issues with the Salzburg to Rosenheim route. Great timetable, I like the BR 111 and the secenary, but the route is so unstable! The game keeps crashing every time I pull into Salzburg which ruins what could otherwise be a great route. I also found similar issues with South Eastern High-speed when pulling into Stratford International heading towards London.

      Y don't you suggest entire route list hierarchy so that it will help for a beginner like me.
      My preferences:-
      1. Love UK signalling coz I'm staying in India and we have similar signalling system.
      2. Dense traffic bcoz plain routes are boring without any challenges for me.
      Eg. My favourite scenario - chasing yellows from MIDLAND MAINLINE. with the signal HUD off.
      Also loved LONDON COMMUTER route for its dense traffic.

Also surprised after as many years as the TSW series has been out that they don't have any Shinkansen routes or any JR routes at all, guessing JR isn't interested in licensing even though Kawasaki (M7/M7A) and Hitachi (Azuma) already have rolling stock in the sim.
