funny how these bootlegs from 30 years ago look wayyyy better than the recent retros from nike. spent a pretty penny on the aluminum dunk high release and was disappointed by the shape n quality compared to older dunks. hopefully tiktok squeezes the pulp out of the dunk trend so they can finally add it back to NikeiD

I think it’s a lil acceptable since the intent was that they were real also there was marketing about the fake batch in 30 years. Also a documented piece of sneaker history. Love the channel. Btw any tips to restore Nike sb white Melvin’s?
Overall the materials on the real ones are better with the exception of the collars. The collars on the 85 dunks just get brittle. Also the check is better quality on the fakes. Yeah now that I think about it they are kind of better quality lol
Tbh , for the right price and condition I would rock them , as you said it’s piece of history and it could be kind of cool to have it in the collection . Also , if it’s piece of history , the question is , if todays reps/bootlegs are not worth buying is it not like in 10-20 years time they will also be a piece of history ??
I think that today’s bootlegs/reps are more mass produced that there will be plenty remaining in 30 years which will lessen their historical significance. But I guess time will tell.
The thing that really fascinates me about these is how well they're actually constructed. I'm not too familiar with today's reps but I just can't imagine they have this quality.
@@VintageKicksGallery i’ve got a couple replica j’s and from what i’ve seen it really just depends on the tier of reps you buy. if you spend 100$+ you’ll be getting pretty good quality but the ones for 40-50$ are pretty awful usually
@@aidanlikesshoes6892 Let's be honest- at this point it doesn't take much to surpass Nike's retail quality. I can imagine you hit a certain tier and the quality is better than the originals.

The most recent retro Dunks I purchased were really disappointing as well. I'm hoping the Acid Wash "85"s are better.

I wish I still had my bootleg pair I got in the mid 2000's on Canal St. in NYC. Besides the sole being extremely flimsy, they held up fairly well
