One of my favourite technique of matching the highlights, mid-tones, and shadows is using threshold adjustment along with curves. It leads to the best results for me.

Also, it would be awesome if you could do a follow-up video explaining and contrasting all the different color matching techniques. I know that in photoshop there are thousands of ways to do the same thing, but it can get quite confusing at times. Same goes for hair masking and other stuff.
