Welcome back to What’s For Tea :) and today for tea I made these wonderful steak and gravy pies :) I’m using ready rolled pastry, but if you make good pastry…feel free to use your own :) I’m no pastry chef, so I prefer to use ready made :)
These are so tasty, I highly recommend you give these a go! These are so rich…that’s the red wine! If you don’t want to use red wine, just use more beef stock :)
Everything I used will be mentioned below incase you want to make it for yourself. Thanks for stopping by,
    -Cheryl x

    200ml (7 fl oz) Beef stock/broth

    1 Tablespoon tomato puree/paste
    1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

    Salt & Pepper to taste

Hi craigwhitham4421, awesome that you cooked these. I’m in Australia down under we adore meat pies both here and in New Zealand. We thought it wasn’t common in USA to have these small meat pies. USA preferring fruit in their pies. Do you get them in diners or quick food like you might see in a service station?

My aunt Donnabelle was polish decent and grew up in midwest USA....She had a brogue you could cut with a knife from living with my uncle and talkin with my other aunts,,,,,I can turn it in or off,,,depending on who I am talking too...lol We were in Scotlabd for the first time in 2003 to pjay bagpipes in the World Piping Championships in Glasgow and my wife and I went to the pharmacy to have some prints made of pictures.....as he was developing the picctures, we were chattng and I told him of a lady that got on looking for directions, She asked the driver ,who coulst help....then scanned the bus patrons. After looking ae 14 people she picked me to ask....and I jusr chuckled and answered "Sorry, hen...I.m no from heere...bbut if yould want direction aroomd South Bend Indiana, Aye, I cab help ye therre...The pharmacist sais "that was nu bad"and I told him he was pulling pictures of som of my family in Wishaw.....He then changed the rate to the local instead of tourist rate...saved 40%!!!!

I made these and they were absolutely delicious! As the lassie said the next morning after "PINCHING ONE OFF" I took a sneaky peak before I flushed and although smelling like a rotting corpse........IT WAS......WELL........BROWNED! What a memorable experience. If you like pies, are a fan of horror movies (zombie) as well as titanic.....i forgot to mention...........not only was the odor almost paint stripping, it was definitely WELL BROWNED💩💩 it also bobbed in the water a few times as if almost trying to wave goodbye before sinking into the abyss. Thanking me for the stay out of the cold and in the warm colon for the evening. Reminding me of the movie titanic and Rose saying don't let go Jack as they held on for dear life to that WELL BROWNED cupboard. Almost brought a tear to my eye!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Highly recommended 👌 👍 👏

@Maxbinned We eat these all the time in Scotland, no idea where you got the idea we don't have these. They're one of the most popular choices in chip shops. Also, no idea where you got the idea they're French - they're British.

Yip, the Fray Bentos tinned pie's are fine as you can store them in the kitchen pantry for convenience on that rainy day etc. For me though it's hard to beat a quality butcher's steak pie, but then I'm probably being a bit biased as I was a butcher to trade.

Fray bentos are horrible. Soggy pastry and mostly gravy. The ones in this video look awesome. Nice chunks of beef, crispy pastry 😋

The second time I made these, I used sliced lamb steaks in lamb gravy, I have to say it made a delicious alternative. Shades of your scotch pie but chunks of meat! Love your pages they give me all sorts of ideas, but I always try them as you demonstrate them first.

O.K., so even though it's HOT and HUMID here in Florida right now, and more conducive to lighter fare, I made these today. I used a Dutch Oven, and found that I needed about 30 extra minutes of slow cooking to get the meat nice and tender. It also took quite a bit longer to reduce everything to the right consistency, but in the end they turned-out great! Nice and rich, just as you said, and very tasty! Thanks for sharing this recipe! Wishing you all the very best! Take care.

Gorgeous finished product. The only trouble is, I'm retired and don't get the exercise I used to because of physical troubles. If I ate one of those delicious looking pies I would have to starve myself for a week just to burn off the calories. They made my mouth water, I want one but I will just have to dream about them. Thank you for this delicious video.
