There is carbs in vegetables, so you should say your carbs come from vegetables. If you eat fruit there is carbs and fructose in them. I never say I don’t eat carbs because I do eat carbs, but very low carbs. I am more a meat eater then anything else. Just had bloodwork and my triglycerides were 30. Best ever. My liver panel was great also. I do eat very little sugar, which is normally Coconut sugar, or keto sweeteners, which I try not to eat much of it. I’m happy with my body because I’m losing the inflammation that was in my body. Happy you are doing great with your journey.

11 months after watching this and staying on the no to low sugar diet I had my blood draw and physical results yesterday. Dropped fasting glucose from 112 to 91. Weight dropped from 193 to 170 pounds. Thanks for the great video and definitely a life changer!

Thanks for that. Exactly what I was looking for. A half a pound every week or two pounds monthly. Perfect. Slow but doable. I don't want to completely stop or really can't. I take honey daily because since I became 60 (65 now) I have pee issues😢. So I take a couple tablespoons of honey daily. No issues until I stop. So I have to be able to keep honey in my daily diet. So zero to low sugar for me. Medicine is truly our healing miracle path to health. Heres to alternative health vs western medicine

I’m your age and just started to modify my diet having decided to lose weight and get strong and healthy. Rather than no carbs I stopped many of them eg bread, sweet fruits, chocolate, desserts, fruit juices and milk but I eat a small portion of white rice daily with meat, vegetables, eggs and yoghurt and most importantly I stopped snacking between main meals. I think the intermittent fasting is also really important. Early days yet but I’m over the withdrawals and the satisfying fatty meat dishes that I love along with lots of tea and water helped close out the sugar cravings. I still plan to allow for cheat meals and occasional beer but it’s an exercise in moderation and discipline having learnt to appreciate the importance of the lifestyle change. Sten’s videos have been incredibly helpful!

if you ever read this response: you can have sweetener, HOWEVER, there's an ingredient that you ALWAYS must look before buy: sodium cyclamate.... if the sweetener have it, DON'T BUY IT! ALWAYS LOOK for that ingredient before ingesting on restaurants, cafes, or buying on a grocery store... but careful, your tastebuds will be sensitive to sweet, so, you may have to start consuming sweet again slowly, so you don't overwhelm your taste buds and think it's too sweet hahaha...
now, speaking about sweeteners (talking of in liquid form), there are 3 kinds: those who are compatible with warm-only temperature, those who are compatible with low-temperature only and those who are compatible with any temperature... unfortunately, there's no way to discern this, only by trying each one of them until you find the perfect sweetener: WITH NO SODIUM CYCLAMATE AND COMPATIBLE WITH BOTH WARM AND COLD TEMPERATURES...
HOWEVER tho, i've seen that sweeteners (always talking in liquid form) that are no compatible with warm temperature, TAINTS the milked coffee with a whiter color, like it's not suposed to be there, another thing that i've witnessed is that if a sweetener it's too bland (or not too concentrated), it can modify the texture of what you're cooking or increase the liquid volume on your cup (it happened to me several times, and i had to look for a new brand, etc., it's a tedious process but i'm a sweet tooth hahaha).
also, stevia sweeteners in liquid form usually don't come with the ingredient i just talked about, but always look at the ingredient table.
another thing before leaving you (which is my case for being a sweet tooth xD ): IF i ever go out to have a coffee (which i don't because i also avoid sugar like the plague hahahah and sweeteners on those places also don't help), i'd have either a black coffee without sugar (which i still can't get use to) or a regular one with plain sugar.
try not to use sweetener in powder form at home.
i truly hope that these tips helps you out to find a new way to enjoy a sweet treat and coffee without the worries of the sugar intake, and also, a more fulfilling snack/coffee
i apologize for such a long post, it was the only way to explain everything and leaving you the best of an advice :D thank you for your time!

I've only been off sugar 5 days and I already notice several changes. One being the way "hunger" has been modified. I do 16-20 hour fasts almost daily and I'm used to feeling serious hunger prior to my eating. Now is a little different and hard to describe but it's like this: I still "feel" that I am hungry when my fast is over (empty stomach, hormones signalling time to eat, etc.), but they don't "compel" me to eat. I can ignore them and not trip off it. These feelings are still real and they are there but its like I don't really care or don't feel like listening to them. In a way, it's subtle but in a way it's very powerful.

Biggest surprise: I get full very quickly on OMAD. Sleeping well. People are telling me "You look so good". Not just weight loss, but skin too (surprised me). The key thing I am learning is that the body adjusts. We just have to give it a chance. This journey will only get better. Please ask questions, I will gladly answer them.

My story regarding sugar and carbs: last December (2020) I weighed 220 lbs, and my doctor told me I was prediabetic (A1C of 5.9). I decided I would exercise like crazy during my week off between Christmas and new years. I lifted weights and walked 27 miles in a week, but I was eating like I normally did back then--lots of carbs. I lost exactly no weight at all. At the end of January I decided to go low carb/high fat, keep up the exercise and do intermittent fasting. I then lost 30 lbs in about three months, and that's with the added muscle from working out. It was easy, and I really didn't feel deprived. Just as important was how eating low carb made me feel--the mental clarity and energy i experienced once I got off of sugar was really amazing.

This is so relevant for me. I'm diabetic and have reduced my sugar intake more than 90% and never noticed a difference except in my A1C numbers. A few days ago I made a carrot cake, just because I wanted a carrot cake. The next morning, after eating a couple pieces of carrot cake the night before, I felt depressed and didn't sleep well. I haven't felt a physical depression in years. I called my neighbor and sent here the remainder of the cake. That was such a revelation as I had never associated previous feelings of depression with diet.

What happens when you stop all sugar (and artificial sweeteners) for a month? In mid-July I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes. I also have RA. In 4-5 weeks, my CRP level went from 16+ down to 9.1, and A1C from 9.1 down to 7.5. In just a month! The chronic diarrhea I suffered from is gone, completely gone. (That was the aspartame) And another month later, the A1C is now 5.8! I feel great. Although I had to go through sugar withdrawal with annoying headaches, it was well worth it. And not least, I lost 7 pounds as well, though I had been dieting anyway, so this was real fat loss and not water bloat.

Thank you Dr.! I didn't realize I was slowly adapting my body already to not need so much sugar. Before I knew the science from this video I told myself as a fast food "addict" if I had cravings I could not control I would not get the fries or the soda if I found myself at a fast food restaurant when I couldn't/didn't feel up to cooking. I did this for 1 year about 10 years ago and was so impressed with the results between having just the entree for cravings and trying to get as much home cooking in as possible I stuck with it and couldn't be happier! Now I am really cutting back on fast food in hopes to reduce my triglycerides (363, 30yr old male with diabetes in family :( )

The reason for this is that you replace the calories you previously got from carbs with other ones, likely protein more than fat. Protein makes one feel full longer than carbs do, hence you eat less. It has nothing in and of itself to do with low/no-carb.

I stopped eating sugar altogether and reduced alcohol consumption to just 1 or 2 times per month. I'm 43 now and I haven't felt this good since I was a teenager. Not sure if quitting sugar or reducing alcohol had more health benefits but something tells me its the sugar.

I fasted for 24 hours at the start of this week. Then ate only protein that night and then ate dinner the next night again mostly protein. It was like a 2 day detox and I totally relate to all the benefits. By the 3rd night my energy had spiked and now I'm able to do stuff with my kids, not get tired, and it feels like I spent my last 6 months of work in a brain fog. Now if only I could get my wife to cut it out, but she still thinks fats are unhealthy from all that Low Fat marketing. :( :( :(
