      Thank you Dr. Sten for all the Fantastic work and education you have provided! I have question for you, could you do an explanation/analysis on the Japanese diet? They have a very Rice/glucose heavy diet and many many recipes calling for sugar in their proteins (like Gyudon, Oyakodon, Teriyaki sauce, etc) yet they live longer and healthier. I would love to know if Rice is still so villainous and offender when examining Rice heavy culture's health? Thank you so much and I hope you continue to share and teach!

    I was diagnosed with insulin resistance about 20 years ago. I went home and got rid of any sugar in my house. My teenagers were mortified. My condition reversed and I find my attraction to sugar gone as well. I also started to listen to my body and started fasting. I was 296 lbs and now I bounce between 146-152.

    I just turned 52 a few weeks ago. Three months ago, I reached my heaviest weight ever at around 255 lbs, my blood pressure averaged around 145/90 daily. I had a generally active lifestyle and I thought I ate pretty well but my weight just kept going up and I couldn't figure it out. I decided to make some changes and started skipping breakfast, lunch and snacks and avoiding sugar, bread and starchy foods. After about 3 days, my blood pressure went down to 125/80 and I started to research intermittent fasting and nutrition and started understanding the role of hormones in my overall health..something nobody had ever really explained to me in over 50 years. After about 2 weeks I had lost 10 lbs and started feeling energetic and alive. I went through my kitchen and threw out anything that had the word fructose on the label or if it had more than 5 or 6 ingredients on the label. I quit starches and breads (maybe a little pasta cheating and beer and wine on weekends) and started paying attention to where sugar hides and really eliminate it from my diet. Three months later, I've lost almost 45 lbs, my belly is flat and I feel like I've gained back at least 10 years of my life. I'm convinced that sugar is the devil and has no place in my life. These videos and others have transformed my life.

    October 1st was 4 months, no processed sugar or processed carbs. I have no desire to go back to the old way, this is so much better! My pro tip, don't be cheep in the spice isle! Curry, cumin, coriander, turmeric, smoked paprika, garlic powder, oregano, cayenne, yum. To anyone reading, everything he's saying is true! I'm living this! I've lost a total of 32 pounds and counting. I've got the feeling back in my fingertips...that I hadn't had in maybe 15 or 20 years! My skin, omg, is awesome now! I literally feel like I aged backwards! Did I mention never being hungry, it's all true. You owe it to yourself to atleast try this! TAKE THE CHALLENGE! You will not regret it!

      Cut your sugars only to what is natural in food and even then cut those down(like only Half a banana for instance), only water and herb teas for drinking, Intermittent Fast schedule, eat meat but reduce how much you eat to keep body from clogging cause it takes the longest to break down, lots of Plants and do HIIT style cardio.
      I had the type 2 symptoms so bad at one point I developed nerve pain in feet, vision was blurring and then later right side of body circulation issues came. Those changes are what I did and lost ALL symptoms in 2 weeks and kept it going(circulation returned to normal and nerve pain went away). Blood work proved I didn't have diabetes later (even after those symptoms) so I believe you Can reverse out of that all the way! I'm just a random internet person of course (every body is different and you need to consult Doctor for yours) but that was my experience and maybe some of those changes can do it for you too.

    I was addicted to opiates for well over 10 yrs and today I am sober 4 years 7 months. I still attend an outpatient treatment program but in the first months of sobriety, it's common for addicts to eat candy to help elevate some of the withdrawal symptoms. Basically addicts gain weight while trying to stay sober and get past the extreme opiate cravings. Treatment tries to discourage addicts from turning to sugar for comfort but at first they are just happy we are there trying to get sober. They're most concerned with helping us survive the addiction and find lasting sobriety which is AMAZING, don't get me wrong. It's just now I'm struggling to get my body and health back in good shape. That's why I'm grateful for doctors like you and others here on YT giving all of this great information for free, thank you so much for the info you are teaching me and others🤗

      @@elvamethe3124 First let me CONGRATULATE you on a huge accomplishment!!!🤗 I completely understand the Suboxone being the culprit of your weight gain...me too😏. I have had some success though with IF and low carb but not keto per say. I was 240 lbs this time last year and I'm at 200 lbs. I got so overwhelmed with all the info out there on IF or I probably would of reached my goal by now. The best advice I can give you is don't give up. If you slip just keep going. Don't look at a slip as "oh no, now I have to start over." Just keep looking for which IF works for your body. Learn about autophagy because when I reach Autophagy, and it usually starts at 18 hrs fasting, my RA and Fibromialgia pain are 80% gone!!!🤔 I have made it to 40 hours fasting and felt amazing. My knees need replaced badly but I want to be under 30 BMI which means I have 60 lbs to go but I have no doubt it will happen. On side note I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes with a A1C of 6.9 when I started living this new lifestyle and now my A1C is 4.7. It's tough because she is an emotional eater and had always been an overeater. Over two years and still working on changing her eating habits by limiting what you're of food is brought into the house. This year she started walking slowly for 20 - 60 minutes a day. I have cut almost all added sugar out of my diet and restricted fruits for pretty close to a year. I have also made other changes but believe fasting and no sugar are the two biggest reasons why I feel like a new person. My A1C went from 6.1 to 5.0. An interesting side-effect is that when I treat myself to an apple or strawberries on occasion, it tastes absolutely amazing and so much better then it used to. I have no desire to to eat a desert or something with a ton of sugar.

    Avoiding sugar and carbs (and I'm a sugarcane farmer's daughter) and intermitting fasting are giving me my life back. I'm healthier in every way. I realized I was a metabolic wreck and got myself to the appropriate doctor. I was diagnosed with Insulin Resistance. Keto and Intermittent Fasting, not medicines, are curing that and helping me lose weight, and both my mental acuity and physical fluidity are excellent. Thank you, Dr. Ekberg, for everything you do! Just went to Europe and walked 5 to 7.5 miles a day there and ate very little or no carbs. Black coffee, fruits and veggies, meats, (no orange or apple juice), and in small portions and plenty of water to stay hydrated, I lost 10 pounds. I got sick in Berlin (PM 2.5 too dense there), but recovered when we were in Scotland, breathing fresh, clean air north of Glasgow. Walked in castles there over 5 miles, felt great [also climbed 11 flights of stairs in the Neuschwannstein Castle.] Most I ever walked was during the funeral procession of Elizabeth II in London, 7.5 miles. I do notice the difference in many of the side effects. I am Type 2 diabetes, and not on medications, but manage to keep my levels under 300. Still not good. My chess game is good, not grandmaster level, around 1600. Today it's under 200 mg/dL. Thanks for the valuable information. Cutting my sugars out and exercise more, more fats and protein, go ketogenic. Used coconut oil in my coffee to put in MCT in my diet.

    Agreed, reducing the amounts of sugar in favour of healthy food in general keeps your sugar levels more stable. I have Type 1 Diabetes and when I was diagnosed at 28 years old, I spent almost 2 years without injecting insulin by just controlling the food. The problem is that I was avoiding carbohydrates and sugar at all costs to compensate for the lack of insulin, and I ended-up developing problems in one of my kidneys 😅. There is no perfect solution... so I'd say balance is the key and eating healthier is always a plus. Thanks for the video (btw, I was diagnosed during my time living in Lund, Sweden!)

      Not to pry, but why did avoiding carbs cause a problem in your kidney?

    • @SRGm8
      @SRGm8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@haileynichelle8343 No problem at all! It turns out that high-protein diets can cause problems to your kidneys over time. Keep in mind that I was avoiding carbs intake at all costs, eating mostly natural walnuts, chicken, and similar. This helped me avoid injecting insulin, but after two years, I started to have pain in my lower back and inside one of my legs. I was being studied at Karolinska at the time (not so many people with Type 1 Diabetes live fine without insulin) and they had already warned me about it, which was confirmed with a blood analysis. Since then, a bit of insulin, some carbs here and there whenever I want to, and healthy as a rock 🤙

      @Sergio RG If you eat a lot of protein you MUST also eat a lot of healthy fat (olive oil, butter, animal fats). THAT was definitely the mistake you made, eating only white low fat meat! And not that you gave up carbs. Lots of protein without fat makes sugar levels go way up. Together with fat it doesn't.
      I additionally recommend you watch the videos of Dr. Ken Berry and Dr. Eric Berg. Like Dr. Ekberg genius doctors.

      May I say from what you said it appears excessive protein intake caused kidney issues, not carb avoidance. Carbs are supposed to be replaced with fats, not proteins. Excessive protein is turned into carbs. Fats are insulin neutral.

    October, 12th : I would still call this day "without sugar" (5 days under my belt by now), but I made a mistake. Why? I had to go to the hospital because of renal calculus pain. I spent 24 hours there. When it was over, I needed some hydration, so I bought 1 qt. coconut water. I drank 250 ml meanwhile thinking it was a tad sweet. When I read the label, oops 15 grams of sugar per serving. So, I throw it away immediately. To soothe myself after the hospital, I went for a keto treat. Yes, no sugar but still the sweet taste. Reflecting on the experience, I think I should avoid sweet flavored treats because they will make me miss the sweet taste. I do not want constant reminders of sweetness. I prefer to cut that flavor out for good.

The key is to be able to eat it once in a while and not have a relapse. For a lot of people it is like being an alcoholic. If they have a little they go right back to binge drinking. If you can have it once a month without relapsing, you will be okay. 😄

I will serve scrambled eggs with a little shredded cheddar on top, bacon or sausage and apple slices this morning. I never “force” them to clean their plate and always emphasize the protein, telling them that’s what their body is made out of!! I believe in teaching them while they’re young instead of making them relearn everything the way I had to do! And I have curtailed all those snacks!! Thank you for your always wonderful videos!!!
