- Ahead of the UK general election on May 7, VICE News explores voter apathy within the British Muslim community and finds out if issues such as the country's counterterrorism policy and Islamophobia are pushing young Muslims into disenfranchisement.
In the 2010 general election, a lower percentage of British Muslims voted than any other religious group. Despite being the fastest growing religion in the UK and boasting more young adherents than any other religion, it appears young Muslims are becoming more and more dissatisfied with the government.
VICE News speaks with Islamists who are rejecting voting and British society, those trying to get Muslims to vote, and those trying to win those votes. We meet with young Muslims to hear their opinions on the election and explore what influences them at a time when they are facing numerous challenges.

Muslims can call themselves whatever they want, but they aren't fully "appreciating" the ethics of Islam which is basically Hitler's Mein Kampf. There are things that Muslims exclusively do when in secular countries too. You find disenfranchised Muslims going fundamentalist and joining ISIS? What about the honor killings and forced marriage that happens in secular countries?
Islam is demonstrated to be at this time worse than all religions when 25% support suicide bombings and a bigger % support Shariah Law. Just look at any Muslim dominated country where Islam has free reign.

I'm against all religion but Islam should be under the most scrutiny for its current status, but instead these "Muslims" say the soundbyte Islam means peace, but it means submission. They also say it's an option to wear the hijab. They haven't read the thing at all and those who do read it are going to be led down a violent path.
The problem is immigrants mostly do seem more willing to integrate despite it being more difficult for a first generation immigrant-it's 2nd and 3rd generation Brits who have immigrants as parents and grandparents who are the ones who in the most part are distancing themselves and creating a bubble outside of integration and then often radical ideas begin to flourish. Did you notice practically every Muslim talking with extreme ideas were definitely not immigrants and were mostly younger and the ones who were either older or a first generation immigrant (like the Somali guy) talked sensibility about wanting to retain his culture but also understood that he needed to integrate to a certain degree. These 2nd 3rd generation extreme Muslims are bringing all Muslims into disrepute-if these Muslims who don't like democracy and who want sharia they should move to Pakistan or Saudi etc.....if your not willing to integrate in any form at all then get out and let us live in peace with decent hearted Muslims (the ones the extremists say aren't really Muslims). If they think Islam and democracy and man made laws aren't compatible they need to get on the first plane to somewhere closer to what they desire. But they won't because deep down they know they have it good here as far as healthcare and freedoms goes-they say they don't want freedom like ours but if that were true they wouldn't continue to live here. I'm glad you spoke out-I just wish more who think like you spoke out more and loudly to drown out these extremists

Steve Lee I understand fully that places like Saudi Arabia and the likes have very very bad practices and views-Wahhabism is such a cancerous threat to my liberal sensibilities and so ill never fail to call them out on it. However we are talking about immigrants who come here-and they often don't come here with that radical Wahhabi way of thinking,it's often one of the factors they want to get away from that extreme way of thinking, but they still want to practice their faith and when they are able to integrate and they don't feel the need to band together with other immigrants and can feel as though they can still be Muslim when being around those who aren't Muslim then there's mostly no problem at all. With 1st generation immigrants I think the biggest problem is when they feel they need to band together with other Muslims because they feel others always see them as suspicious and then they live in a echo chamber,can't integrate properly and pass on views to 2nd and 3rd generations which are not compatible with living in the West and those children take that thoughts to a bigger extreme. I didn't get much sleep last night so my explaining is probably a bit off but what I'm trying to say is calling out the likes of Saudi Arabia for their disgusting treatment of people is fine and the right thing to do, but if we view all Muslims who immigrated here with the view that they all think like that then we cause ourselves a bigger problem by isolating them. These guys in the vid are despicable for having views like that but by viewing every Muslim as the same we only push more 2nd 3rd etc....generations into the arms of extremist thought. Hope I've been at least a little clear there-I really need to get some sleep haha

Imagine there were a few hundred Christians in places like Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan who moved there as a way for a "better" life. But when they got there, they did not agree with the Islamic law, culture or views of the land. (First of all they would probably be killed) But then, imagine the next year a few hundred more came, a few thousand the year after, then a few hundred thousand, and over a million the year after. You think this would bode well for the natives in those countries? You think its fair for the Christians to demand their own way of life and laws to be respected? You think its ok for the Christians to have their own state withina state and multiply and expand until the natives are bred out? Neither do I. So why is it happening to us?

So it’s only just to follow His laws in all lands.

And Kazza is right that literally hundreds of millions of muslims are "extremist", in the sense that they support the stoning of adulterers and the killing of apostates.

Also I really do not care in any way what muslim scholars, moderate muslims or even the quran or Muhammad believe. What I care about is what kind of effect islam has on real life. And one of those effects is that hundreds of millions of people believe you deserve to be killed because they disagree with you. It also means that there are deadly attacks in the West on a monthly basis and on a daily basis in the muslim world with thousands dying every year.

As a internacional relations degree i Saw this comming years ago. It is with a great satisfaction that i see that Britains and not ONLY Britains are loosing their self shame and saying like it is. Just get out if you don't want to live with out beliefs. And do not give them vote.... For that to happened i would out a 25 year wait and the person hás to be perfectelly integrantes, wich muslims always have a problem with....
