Thank you! This was extremely helpful, especially how you showed different chair examples.

I broke my heel and tore my Achilles tendon in two places right before Christmas. Not knowing my insurance would cover a scooter I went to Amazon and purchased the deluxe scooter with the thicker wheels. After trying it out numerous times and almost falling I stopped using it. I ended up going to medical supply store for another reason and they had on display a heavy duty scooter with the thin wheels. It was far more stable than the deluxe model. If you're able to definitely go check scooter out before buying.

Thank you for showing us! My Knee Rover just arrived & I'm trying to figure out efficient ways to get up & down. We have all hardwood or tile floors, so I'm locking the brakes when I get up & down. Appreciate you taking the time for us.

You make this look so easy. I just got my knee walker yesterday and I’m really struggling.

It is a bit of a learning curve. They definitely have a very wide turning radius so you almost have to slide the front end along the floor it's much easier if you don't have carpet. Somebody needs to make a knee scooter that has a good turning radius like a wheelchair.

Makes me more open to the surgery I need that will require 8 weeks (!) of no weight. Another scary part, my already weak sometimes really hurting knees will get worse, one from more weight being placed on it, another one from weight being placed in a bent condition🤷🏻‍♀️

Absolutely that is definitely something to think about and also your shin bone. So I would recommend that you not only have a knee scooter but a wheelchair and a walker. That way you can switch back and forth depending on what you need. But personally I am trying to limit my time in the knee scooter.

I have the same fear! My surgery will require 8 weeks of no weight being placed 🥺

I have in my house three different assistive devices to get around in different places. I have a wheelchair to do most things because I don't want to put my leg on the knee scooter because it hurts my shin. Doesn't matter how much padding I use inside of my boot outside of my boot. I have a walker that I use for going into tight places like my bathroom and my closet. And then I have my knee scooter that I tried to only use when I need to go out someplace. And even then I try to just only use it for short periods of time because it's just really has damaged my shin bone.

If you can use the knee scooter in the bathroom you can go in front ways and back out. Don't try to turn it around.

I broke my ankle on 6th June, 2024. I slipped on one of those office chair mats (just like in your office) but it was on vinyl flooring, not carpet. I took one step on it, then with the second step, the mat skid out from under me and I think I sat down on my ankle. Its still a blur. Now 6 weeks post op but have been non weight bearing and keeping it elevated. Sitting, sitting, sitting. I’m not sure I could kneel on my dodgy, arthritic knee to use a scooter….

Do you have to lock the break when you transfer to a chair?

No I don't and in fact I don't know that you can lock the brake

Did the scooter and your boot hurt your shin? Mine is terrible

My scooter was well padded so it helped keep the alignment of the foot while I was using it. I highly recommend the knee rover quad wheel all terrain scooter. Not all scooters work well in my experience.

@@limitlesswonderingrid this is the same scooter that I have. But I am having a real problem with it hurting my shin bone.
