These videos are so helpful and what a great teacher! I just broke my ankle and it certainly is a re- learning experience on how to function day to day.
@@EquipMeOT I was trying to figure out if it is worth the price of the pillow. Can a side sleeper use it? After recovery can it be used as a back rest? It looks very comfortable. Also, can the foot tent be used on a platform bed? You have been so helpful during this experience.
That is an interesting idea to sleep wearing the fracture boot to protect from the weight of the blanket. I had kept my foot sticking out from under the blanket but it was chilly. The hospital did not even show me how to use crutches so I had to look it up on youtube although for me crutches are painful to use.
I broke my ankle for the first time and sleeping with the boot is the hardest part for me. I’m only on day four but it’s killing me. I’m a side sleeper and the folded blanket between my legs helps so much. Thank you 🙏🙏🙏

Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been struggling to sleep with my cast and this helped a lot. I fractured my talus, tibia broke my fibula in a near death experience. I Really appreciate what I’ve learned from you! Have a nice Christmas!
I've been using a child-sized beanbag chair that i got years ago under my broken foot and it's great for elevating and support (as long as my leg is in a position where it won't slide around) :P. Also, lifting your trunk up with a triangular wedge pillow does wonders for back pain while your foot is elevated
Hi Lindsey! Thank you for this video. Is this applicable after surgery? Like theres a titanium inside my fibula and screw in malleolous? How do I make sure, these parts aren't moving? And if I move, how to ensure theyre in place? Can I rotate my ankle?
Very helpful thanks! One question; i just had surgery for a left ankle fracture and I'm a 100% side sleeper. Is it safe to sleep on the left side while using this same technique? I did last night and it didn't cause pain.
Absolutely! As a fellow side sleeper and ankle fracture survivor ;), I slept on my side as long as it wasn't causing increased pain or swelling. I did find initially the opposite side from my fracture was more comfortable, but inevitably would want to roll to my preferred side.
Thanks I really was searching for the sleeping position in this situation 😊i hv complete tear in my ankle ☹️i was struggling from so many nights n I couldn’t get help for this. Thank u , i think it will help me. God bless U
Uk….no pain relief prescribed told to buy some paracetamol , given crutches couldn’t even walk with them, couldn’t bear to put foot on the ground and no upper strength to use the crutches but sent on my way home from A&E, completely unhelpful and was feeling very sorry for myself with the acute pain I was in. These videos are really good and helpful, guess ‘healthcare’ in the UK doesn’t exist anymore….it’s ‘patch em up and get them out’ attitude. I will definitely buy the leg rest for nighttime when pain is at its worst.
Thank you soooo much! I didn't hurt my foot or my ankle tho, but i did tear my MCL playing soccer, so it my knee, but it still works and helps so thank you!
@EquipMeOT .. question regarding side sleeping. Im having mid foot fusion surgery Sept 10. Its my right foot. I sleep on my right side. The video shows the injured foot being the foot / leg on top. For my scenario the injured foot is the one on the bottom. What side position do you suggest. Thanx very much. Im enjoying watching your videos.
Thank you 🙏 I'm on day 2 of my fractured ankle. I tried sleeping on my side with no blankets or pillows now ima try it with sleeping with blankets. I have a boot and its so heavy.
I’m going through this now I hit a tree a week ago and broke my foot and have stitches all over my my left leg and ankle and heal of my foot 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I’m in soooo much pain on top of that I have a neck injury along with spinal cord injury and a blood clot on the back of my brain I this is the second time my injuring this leg last I was moving my king size bed by myself and it fell on me I had a big bruise on the back of my lower leg 🦵🏾😭😭😭😭😭😭 I recovered and hopefully will do the same thing again soon💜💜💜 thanks for sharing this video 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for the video! I fractured both sides of my right ankle. I fractued the fibula and Tibia (on the bottom of it) and its been most painfully sleeping at night. This aircast boot is making it worse. 😢 I'm having more pain in my knee and upper leg at night , im assuming its the muscles being sore ? I'm so confused .
Maybe one day someone can create an air walker boot that's comfortable without nuts & bolts that rub against injured foot. That hurts worse than the actual injury.
I had a foot surgery many years ago that included them breaking and straightening the foot. The one thing that drove me wild was trying to ice it. I could never get the cold from the ice packs to penetrate the thick plaster cast that I was in for 8 weeks, and I was really really swollen and in pain. Do you have any methods or equipment that would address this problem? I don't know if you covered something like this in another video, because I just found your channel.

I want to transition to side sleeping, can I do this with just the inner cushion of the boot and blankets/pillows like you demonstrate here or should I have the boot on? I am now in the PWB phase and FWB in two weeks (in the boot)

I have watched a couple of your videos as my girlfriend has fractured her foot (metatarsal). We are unsure, should she rest and elevate her foot with her weight offloading shoe on or off? Thank you
It's usually safe to rest with it off (and more comfortable), but that should be clarified by the orthopedic physician to ensure they are ok with removing the protective boot/shoe when resting.

Can you use the wedge to sleep on your side? I am having ankle/ Achilles tendon surgery next week. I got a similar wedge but it’s a single not a double. Can I use it to sleep on my side?
Could be from the stretched tendons. It's often more uncomfortable if you elevate with a straight knee. If you can elevate with a bent knee like in my video it might be more comfortable. If not, icing without elevation is the next best thing! Best wishes.
