  • I found some great files on Thingiverse that will replace my current poster board crash walls. You can find them on thingiverse at the link below, but if you download them be sure to give a shout out the the creators: MrFlippant and 0X0_Cube.

    5-minute videos are perfect but definitely no longer than 10 minutes each. It helps when you come back to a how-to video after a few weeks when you need to look for a specific instruction. I have an Ender 5 S1 printer and I like it. I have printed stl files from thingiverse and they work great. However, I have been taking Autocad classes for 7 months and am going to create my own stl files later this month.

      Let me know how that goes. I have dabbled in Fusion 360 for modifying stl files and have done a few designs from scratch, but my experience is super basic. As far as future videos go: between 5 and 10 minutes is the sweet spot for me, so I am glad someone agrees!

    Great job! Personally, I’d like to see videos of each scenery piece. Maybe at some point I’ll take the dive, and get into 3d printing.

    Well Peter, I gave up on the crash wall prints. I printed about 40" of the wall. The tolerences are really tight. So much so that I had to sand the dovetails to open them up and even with that I still had to pound them together with a hammer. Not good. The clips had to be pounded it to the bottom which is good so they wouldnt come out. Then the trouble started. Trying to put the wall on the track resulted in me fumbling around enough to break the fragile articulating seams between the "pillars." The upper fence piece printed perfect except for having to sand the tabs down in order to get them in the slots in the wall. Guess my filament (Inland from Micro Center) or my printer or the guy that pushes the buttons is a little off. I appreciate the help and suggestions you gave. They were dead on. Keep it up, can't wait for the next videos.

      That is a bummer! I use Inland for the most part as well, so I don't think that is your issue. If you shoot me an email (address on channel page), I can share my slicer settings to compare notes. No promises, but I would hate for you to have to throw in the towel

      I looked for your email on the home page of the channel, but, no joy. That's okay though, I'll keep watching and print some other things like buildings. I might switch filament from the PLA Pro I have been using to the regular PLA. That might have something to do with it. I am going to try some other wall projects too.

      @philparker6576 The pit lane came out MUCH better than I had anticipated! I want to cover my 3D printed borders/shoulders next week, and then on to the REALLY cool stuff! The printer is going close to 24/7 right now, so there is PLENTY to cover!

    Great video! Thanks for posting. Your timing is good as I had printed Greg's wall last week after seeing you had printed them. I only have an Anycubic Kobra so printing is slow. The wall took 4 hrs 16 min. Ugh. Then I printed the clips which printed with supports because I printed as they were from the download and I didnt change orientation in Cura for slicing. I couldnt figure out how the clips worked because they were stuffed with supports. And they broke when I pulled the support material out. So, this video comes along and straightens me right out! I hadn't printed the fence yet so the tip about printing with no top and bottom was perfect. I may have to print the clips in PETG for strength. Currently using PLA . Question, did you use supports in the wall? I accidently left supports on and that has complicated the wall print. I did print with a brim. Thanks again.

    • @Show-MeSlotCars
      @Show-MeSlotCars  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I print in PLA always, and haven't had trouble. Just need to be conscious of the orientation of the layer lines. Amy stress perpendicular to the layers can cause them to fail. As far as the walls go, I decided to skip support since the holes are plenty deep enough even if the overhang droops a bit.

    Peter, how many clips do you use to attach the wall unit to the track?

    • @Show-MeSlotCars
      @Show-MeSlotCars  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I connect three of the wall pieces together in sections. For those sections, I typically use 5 clips spread out across the 3 sections. I add more for tighter curves and fewer for straights. The clips are small, quick to print, and do not use very much filament, so more the merrier.

    • @philparker6576
      @philparker6576 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm printing clips right now, oriented on their side as you suggested, but I'm printing at 100% infill, for strength. Just in case....

    • @Show-MeSlotCars
      @Show-MeSlotCars  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you are referring to the fence part, then all you have to do is find the setting that controls how many top and bottom layers you want. Just set both of those to zero.
