  • This is the first of two videos where I make and produce a new chassis to convert 1:43 Die-Cast cars into slot cars. For more slot car stuff, please see my website Swift Sixteen, thank you.

    Another great video Rob, slotting up die cast cars is a whole new rabbit hole to go down then

    Strangely enough, I also have a couple sets of those old Carrera F1 axle and wheels sets to use on a 1/43 project one day. They’ve only been sitting around about 15 years so far 😂

      LOL, The bearings are a bit sloppy, but once the axles are shortened, I'm not sure if it's a problem. I guess it depends on how tight the tyres are in the arches? We'll find out in Part 2! I may end up making a set of rear bearings for a better fit. The axles are 2.2mm, not 2.38mm as 'normal'

    You can lightly tap the bearings on a metal plate to reduce their I.D. and then lightly ream for a better fit.

    Got the mind going, like I need another project!
    The chassis would make a good candidate for 3d printing too, could potentially save a little weight compared to the resin?

    • @SwiftSlots
      @SwiftSlots  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not sure printing is much lighter than the resin?

    Have you ever made a 1/43 slot work on a Ho track guide pin conversion
    Thanks can wait to see if you did that

    One question....once you have all appropriate measurements worked out would it not be easier to draw it up in 3d. And make print files which anyone could then buy from you and then just print up?

    • @SwiftSlots
      @SwiftSlots  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      From your point of view I guess that would work, but from my point of view I have no understanding of 3D printing and almost no ability to work a computer.

    Hi, i am about to order the 1/43 chassis on your web site but it's quit hard to find the carrera f1 axles in France... i was wondering if i can fit some of the NSR axles and if yes i need your advice on witch one i can ordre. Thanks. your chassis looks great by the way... genius 😄

      Hi, if you contact me through my website, I can send you links to all the parts you can use from Pendle Slot racing. They sell parts or Carrera axles. Thanks.

  • @SlotCar2021

    I was watching the video and when you got the Carerrea axles I immediately thought no. Cutting down the axle gluing the wheel on isn't ideal but without getting custom wheels and and axle I am not sure there is an easy option. The Carrera GO car looks insane, a 25k motor and NSR tyres I bet that shifts 😊. Are you planning on doing a HO option because in the UK we are crying out for HO offerings.

    • @SwiftSlots
      @SwiftSlots  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I used the Carrera F1 wheel set as the wheels themselves are 10mm, so fit the 1:43 cars very well. Once I have the tyres made to fit the wheels next week, you'll have a cheap and easy option for slot car 1:43 wheel/tyre combo. I bet you could find a good wheel in another brand at 10mm and I know Scalextric bearings also click into this chassis. I will go over some other options in part 2. This chassis is only meant as a starting point and can be finished in countless ways. I'm not going down to HO, although I do have a large collection ;-)

      @@SwiftSlots yeah I am sure there is an option maybe for other wheels. I have a Go track so maybe something to try, not the biggest fan of anything miller than 1/32 though. Good luck with your proxy race, when is it?

    • @SwiftSlots
      @SwiftSlots  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@SlotCar2021 The Proxy will be in about a week or so, I'm hoping it will be the next video after Part 2.

    I see you make the rubber mold by pouring the liquid rubber over the "oiginal".But, ho do you know where to open the cured rubber mold? Or is it obvious?

    It's hard enough to make resin cars handle nicely due to the weight, I would think die-cast cars would be much worse.

    Ouch, too much specialised work for a novice. Guess I'll have to stick to buying whatever I can find in stores
